  • Sandy Toes is an adorable place. Very well equipped to ensure a nice comfortable stay. We loved it!

"We planned a mother daughter getaway and found this place to be ideal. The owner had a chilled bottle of wine waiting for us! The condo has lots of games and movie videos which we took advantage of each night. We spent most of our time on the wonderful balcony overlooking the ocean. We walked over to the Beach Club one afternoon and decided we would definitely come back in the summer to use those facilities. This place was an excellent choice for our little getaway. Thank you Kim!"

  • A spacious and comfortable sea-side retreat

"The house is spacious, quiet, and comfortable. It offers a good view of the Gulf. The nearby beach was clean and virtually empty. I don't feel that our experience there was really representative. We gambled a bit when we reserved the house for early January. The day we arrived was mild and we enjoyed a walk with our dog along the beach. That night a very strong cold front blew in and temperatures plummeted. The next day was cloudy, cold and rainy. During our second night the temperature dropped into the low 20's and by morning the water pipes had frozen and the central heat couldn't cope with the low temperatures. However, the owner was quite gracious and refunded our money for the scheduled third night's stay. In milder weather, I think the house and location would be great. There was a new stove and refrigerator (ice maker was not hooked up). TV and internet were available and the bed was comfortable. It is about a 30 minute drive into the heart of Galveston."

  • All the amenities in one place!

"We just got back from our 2 night stay on this lovely cottage in Pointe West. I would definitely encourage you to come stay here if you are looking to get to the beach and don't want to be with the crowds. The house is just a short walk away from the water and they have all the amenities that you will ever need. Everything from cleaning products to towels/sheets to pots and pans. Seriously everything you need is there and the only thing you need to do is bring your own food. There is even a pizza place close by that will deliver. There is plenty of places to sleep - We had 11 people there and didn't feel like we were on top of each other. Having 4 bathrooms was an added plus!! 2 balconies and lots of play area below the house. It was clean and smelled good as soon as we walked in. You can tell the owners take care of the place! Don't hesitate to rent this cottage. You will be happy that you did!"

  • This condo is the best place for winter birding on Galveston Island

"This condo overlooks the Galveston Bay, and from its balcony we watched egrets, herons, coots, sanderlings, pelicans -- = and the occasional spoonbill flying by. There are many great places for birding on Galveston Island, but this February none were consistently better than what we had outside our balcony. We used Lisa and Ken's kayaks to explore the waterline of the bay eastward and to get closer to feeding flocks of birds. We also visited Brazoria National Wildlife Refuse, about 35 minutes away, where there is a free 8-mile audio tour of birding spots. (The ibis alone are worth the trip.) On the route we also found an excellent restaurant, the Red Snapper Inn, and a free state-run fish hatchery, which stocks red fish and sea trout. The condo itself is as described, an upscale, attractively furnished apartment with tile floors, up-to-date appliances and an abundant supply of the basics (towels, kitchen gadgets, etc.) Everything was clean. The condo comes with free membership in the nearby beach club, which as a fitness gym and pool. A second club location has several additional pools and a hot tub. The gym equipment was in good repair; the hot tub a delight in mid-February. Lisa and Ken Arthur also provide a golf cart, which is handy, but not essential, for getting around the condo development. The condo's location, on the west end of the island, is perfect for those who love nature. Not only is the bay outside your balcony, but in 10 minutes you can walk across the narrow island to the Gulf of Mexico, where there is a wide seashore beach. The tourist attractions of the island, and the city of Galveston itself, is on the opposite end of the island, the east side, about 15 - 20 miles away. We drove there many times to see the Bishop's Palace, Oil Rig Museum, tree sculptures and other attractions, and to eat at the town's many good restaurants. Winter is not often thought of as great birding weather. April is the crazy birding season here. But we enjoyed the birds that winter in the bay and the scarcity of people. There were many days when we had the marshes and the beach to ourselves, nothing but sand and water for as far as the eye could see. We'd definitely recommend the Arthur's condos for those who love nature but enjoy a bit of touring as well."
