  • Great Last Minute Getaway!!

"We booked The Den a few days before we left for West Virginia and it couldn't have been a better experience. The owner responded right away to my request and we booked the condo within hours. The owner was a pleasure to deal with and took the time to answer my questions. The Den is a lovely, cozy, condo with great amenities. We enjoyed the pool and tennis courts and our boys loved fishing in the pond. We also enjoyed exploring the surrounding attractions - Canaan Valley Resort, Blackwater Falls, Smoke Hole Caverns and Seneca Park. There is a great "swimming hole" in Seneca that our boys enjoyed. West Virginia is beautiful. We were impressed with the lush green mountains and wildflowers. The towns of Davis and Thomas were quaint and we enjoyed the shops. Hellbenders, Siriani's Pizza and the ice cream shop across the street from Siriani's were very good. Davis, West Virginia was unknown to us until I came upon it on VRBO. If you enjoy fishing, hiking, sightseeing, kayaking, biking, antiquing and staying in a "home away from home" , The Den is the place for you."

  • Great comfortable family house

"Bob was super nice to work with us and provided extensive information prior to our departure. As new visitors to Canaan Valley and the surrounding area, the wealth of information was very much appreciated and helped us to plan our trip. The house is very comfortable and well-equipped for cooking for a family. Don't expect anything fancy. I don't mean that in a negative way. Very comfortable and enjoyed our stay immensely. We appreciated that Bob allows pets (there is an extra fee) and we felt that past visitors had tried, as we did, to leave no signs that our pets had stayed with us. Everything was quite clean, although the furniture shows a little wear. The house could probably use a coat of fresh paint as well, but as I mentioned before the state not bother us or affect our vacation. The house is within a few steps of ski slopes at Timberline (it is actually situated inside that resort) and also very close to Blackwater Falls, Canaan Valley resort and other attractions like White Grass. Were there in December and hoped for snow, but apparently this year is the warmest anyone remembers. Nevertheless, we were able to hike and enjoy the scenery every day. We sincerely enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone."
