  • Great home for 5 adults

"This is a great home in a lovely neighborhood. The home is small, but everything is well done. The backyard is very nice. The kitchen is very well equipped and laid out. I cooked dinner one night and had everything I needed. The house is a short walk to Lake Mendota. Do not miss The Original Pancake House for breakfast. Excellent! Mid Town Pub was very good too."

  • Perfect family lake retreat!

"We had 8 adults and 4 kids under 4 years of age. There is a "den" that has a futon where one couple/baby slept. It would be great if there was an actual bed in that room, but it worked. The sofas in the living room are also futons. The kitchen is fully furnished, but bring extra paper towels. One roll barely lasted us a day. We had just enough towels. I slept in the master and it was very comfortable. The kids loved playing at the beach (just outside the condo or down 50 yards where there is a beach with a trampoline in the water!) and walking across the "street" to the pool. They had a great kids pool. We didn't play much sand volleyball, but that's right there as well. We rented a pontoon for an afternoon from the resort (call the tiki bar to order it). It was perfect and the highlight of the vacation. We walked down to the tiki bar one night to listen to the band. Castle Rock lake is huge! It was pretty and just outside our window. None of us had even been here before. It didn't disappoint. Oh - get a fishing license online before you go. There isn't any place to get one conveniently. The guys enjoyed fishing. Everyone else caught fish.. we did not. We had fun creating memories with our grandchildren. Would recommend staying here! Only negatives: The dishwasher isn't "anchored" and I worried we'd break it. The was a hair dryer in the master, but not in the other bathroom. We didn't have16 resort bracelets and I was afraid Stacy would charge us for any missing. She didn't, but just an FYI for the next people that stay here. Maybe another roll or two of paper towels? There isn't a store very close, but we needed ice anyway... so we just picked some up then. Remember to bring your beach towels and coffee...and just enjoy. It really was a ton of fun!"

  • Welcoming, charming, clean and consumately confortable!

"Seven retired women on a golf trip in the New Glarus area struck gold with a stay at this property. On a quiet street in New Glarus, Wisconsin, the 1914 brick home with geranium-filled window boxes on the corner of quiet streets beckoned us inside. We were cordially welcomed by Jane, the owner, and given an informative and historical tour. Original oak and hardwoods throughout the house lead you from room to room. Our stay here was like staying at home -- because it was so comfortably appointed and decorated. We found the three bathrooms with showers more than adequate for all of us women. The kitchen had more appliances, utensils and dishes than most of our own kitchens -- we lacked nothing. Everything in the house worked -- no frustrations of any kind in that regard. The house was clean, had no lingering odors and offered comfortable, clean beds with crisp linens. Satellite TV and WiFi posed no problems and worked well. We never ran out of hot water even if all three showers were running at once along with the dishwasher. The large farmhouse-style kitchen table was a great gathering place for our meals and of course adult beverages and cards and story-telling in the evenings. From the Duerst house, it's a short walk to the shops in New Glarus. Jane was accessible by phone and "on call" in the event we would need something. We chose the house because we wanted to visit the New Glarus area and nearby Mt. Horeb along with Monroe 27 miles to the south. We golfed, shopped, went to the New Glarus Brewery (with a charming reproduction of a German beer garden) and made it to the Duluth Trading Supply outlet store in nearby Belleville and the Duluth Trading Supply store in Mt. Horeb. And, of course other shops in all of these areas. Lunch at the very authentic Poncho and Lefty's on the square in Monroe is not to be missed. Don't let the storefront or your first steps into the place scare you. The food is amazing! And reasonable. Bikers and business people and tourists in this small place while we were there. We will return to this property for sure -- maybe with our families, perhaps for a family reunion or maybe for another golf trip."

  • Great place

"The unit was very clean, well furnished, and had great amenities. We had the 2 bedroom. It was just the right size, had all of the kitchen equipment we needed, plenty of towels, quiet, and cozy. The location was perfect. We were right on the lake, with indoor and outdoor pools, a hot tub and sauna. We rented movies from the office for the rainy day and all the equipment worked right. It got a little warm at night, so turn the AC up high when sleeping. Overall, a great place and we would definitely stay there again. And, I left my prescription glasses behind and they are going to mail them to me. What better service is there."
