Location & View
View the gorgeous Sandia Mountains. ('Sandia' means watermelon in Spanish, and is popularly believed to be a reference to the red color of the mountains at sunset. Also, when viewed from the west, the profile of the mountains is a long ridge, with a thin zone of green conifers near the top, suggesting the "rind" of the watermelon. However, Robert Julyan notes in The Place Names of New Mexico, "the most likely explanation is the one believed by the Sandia Indians: the Spaniards, when they encountered the Pueblo in 1540, called it Sandia, because they thought the squash growing there were watermelons, and the name Sandia soon was transferred to the mountains east of the pueblo." He also notes that the Sandia Pueblo Indians call the mountain Bien Mur, "big mountain."...moreless

Great choice in Albuquerque!
Great choice in Albuquerque!
The condo was perfect for Grandma & Grandpa, Mom & Dad, 4 y/o girl & 6 y/o boy. Plenty of room to spread out. We appreciated the many amenities furnished and it was well maintained. Property owner was so helpful and as a bonus, one morning we woke early to find right next to our condo, in full view - at least 25 balloons in various stages of inflating (actual Balloon Fest was at least one month away). Location was close (within 5-10 min) to everything we needed. The mountains are breathtaking. A great choice & hope it's available next visit.

ABQ Balloon Fiesta
ABQ Balloon Fiesta
My family of 4 adults crew for a hot air balloon team and used this property as a base of operation for 12 days during the 2012 ABQ Balloon Fiesta. The condo is perfectly situated for quick access to the balloon field as well as shopping, dinning, and city touring. The property is adjacent to a balloon target/landing field, so balloon were passing directly overhead. The three bedrooms gave us room to spread our gear out, watch TV as a group, and wash clothes as needed. The kitchen was completely outfitted, but we did not cook. Our mornings started at 05:00am and we were out until 10:00pm on many evenings. I highly recommend this property when visiting Albuquerque. High points: central location, easy access, and property security.

Our family of 5 stayed for a week and the condo was just wonderful. The size was perfect with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, for 3 kids and 2 adults. The condo looks even better than the great pictures - it is beautifully decorated, so comfortable, new and clean. Everything you need is provided, from kitchen to bath to laundry. Hostess also went out of her way to make our girls feel special and helped with local restaurants. Safe, quiet and very convenient location. Thanks for making our visit to New Mexico so great - it was definitely our home away from home.

This is a lovely home in a safe community. The hostess went above and beyond our expectations to make our visit comfortable. We were travelling with an infant and a toddler and found the home a perfect solution for our weeklong visit to Albuquerque. We were truly impressed with the accomodations.

About the owner: I got the idea of a vacation rental when visiting San Diego, CA and staying at one. I was so pleased with the amenities, that I wanted to provide something similar in my hometown (which I love) in Albuquerque! Another influence (and most important) is my Grandfather, actually known as my Dad by most (since he raised me)- Ignacio Cordova, known as "IGGY" by those he knows. He is a retired CMSgt. The Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force (CMSAF) is a unique non-commissioned rank in the United States Air Force. The holder of this rank and post represents the highest enlisted level of leadership in the Air Force, and as such, provides direction for the enlisted corps and represents their interests, as appropriate, to the American public, and to those in all levels of government. He also directed and lead his family. What I love about my Grandpa, is not only did he teach and discipline me...he provided me with a "home" not just a house. Most people that know him, recognize his saying "Mi Casa Es Su Casa" (My house is your house). I hope that I can make my Vacation Rental feel like that for all my guests. Mi Casa Es su Casa....
Why the Owner Chose Albuquerque:
I chose the ABQ Condo for many reasons. The location: it's close to freeway access, the International Balloon Fiesta, and centrally located to access most interests in Albuquerque with ease. Another Reason is that the condo is in a gated community: many of my guests like the idea of the security of a gated community. Also, there are two pools (opened seasonally) which is an amenity many families with children look for when vacationing.
