Deer Hill is a classic, white clapboard, hilltop estate located two minutes from historic Glen Ellen and its restaurants, wineries, and gourmet market.
The house is a custom, two-story, New England-style farmhouse with high ceilings, tall windows, hardwood floors, and large slate-floored screen porch with brick hearth barbecue and rustic dining table. Large covered porches and open decks surround the house. Four bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs, sleeps up to ten guests.
The 26-acre grounds encompass extensive lawns, badminton court, and large porch-side reflecting pond. The 52-foot, gray-bottomed, swimming pool overlooking the valley is edged in large stone slabs and incorporates loveseats. A large deck with panoramic vistas and a six-person spa frame each end. The knee-deep reflecting pond is filtered and ideal for wading or lazy floating. Hiking trails on the grounds connect to friendly neighbors' trails.
Couples as well as families return to Deer Hill. In addition to deer, quail and diverse bird life are plentiful. Deer Hill is midway up the Valley of the Moon between Sonoma and Kenwood. After a day of hiking, biking, swimming, or shopping, a gentle afternoon Pacific Ocean breeze creates an ideal climate for pre-dinner contemplation on the covered octagonal porch, barbecue dinner on the screen porch overlooking the pond, and coffee around a fire in the porch's brick hearth.
