This 6300 Sq Ft "piece of paradise" is one of Big Canoe's most popular rentals for family reunions, weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties, golf outings, business meetings, retreats and church or club gatherings.
The two great rooms [on separate floors] allow fantastic "flow" for family activities yet separation for those in your party wanting to relax in a serene, tranquil mountain ambiance. Both great rooms have huge wood burning fireplaces. One has media center with a 150+ library of VHS/DVD movies for all ages in addition to pool and Ping Pong tables. The upstairs great room has wet bar and adjacent sunroom to enjoy the pristine beauty of nature at its finest.
The oversized kitchen actually seats 13 informally and has ample stemware, flatware and cookware. It has been remodeled with all new appliances and a Sub Zero "fridge". However, it is rivaled by the outdoor kitchen that any chef will love. You can prepare dinner on the deck while enjoying spectacular sunsets that you just have to see to believe.
By stepping off the deck and walking through the two garden patios, you arrive at the canoe launch complete with a 16' Oldtown fiberglass canoe at no extra charge. And pontoon boat rental is in the very next cove. You can pick up the pontoon boat and be loading the group from our back yard within minutes. Island exploring, mountain viewing, lunch/dinner cruises and fishing junkets are just a few of the amenities only steps from the back door of "our piece of paradise."

What a joy it was to be able "live" here for 10 days! The house had something for everyone in our group. The canoes were wonderful! We had cookouts almost every night on the deck overlooking the lake. We played games and watched movies! It was a fabulous. The house is wonderfully decorated and so spacious. We saw deer and geese and ducks and even a bear over at the neighbor's house. We rented a pontoon boat on several occasions - the marina is just the next cove over, you can load the boat in the back yard; we fished and bird watched. This house is a must rent if you have lots of people coming in and out. The owners are wonderful and the house is beautiful. You will find yourself just wondering around in awe. I particularly loved the chandeliers and cow skin rugs. Each room is different and unique.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, pet owners, families with young children.

We stayed at this home resort with our whole gang and had a wonderful time. It was very spacious and the whole family is still talking about the great time they had. We did run into a little trouble with the kitchen fridge but other than that it was great! Hope to get here again for another vacation. The owner was great. Gave us all the info we needed and was very friendly.

I think that it's important for potential renters to know that one of the "terrace level" queen bed bedrooms is very small and has *no* windows, and now has very squeaky kid-size twin beds, not a queen. It was very disappointing to travel a long distance to a "luxurious" home and find ourselves sleeping in what felt like the servant's quarters from a Victorian novel (though this room does have a very small bath - with no towel racks, so we had to hand wet towels around this small, very dark room).

We had a very precious time in Big Canoe. Staying in "Paradise" lives up to the name. Your home was perfect for our family and also on Sunday when we hosted an after the wedding brunch. The rain on Saturday was timed perfectly and made the special day a bit dreamy and the golfers got in 0 holes in sunshine. Thank you for sharing your blessings with others.

Once again, you have provided a perfect venue for our family. We all hope to return again next year, God willing. Mom's almost 92 and starting to slow, but loves it here and the gift of a week with all five kids and their kids is the highlight of her year. We are so grateful for a spot that can accomodate us and where the beauty of these mountains is so breath taking. Until next year.

We had a fantastic time in your beautiful home. Plenty of room for all and no tripping over each other.The view was so relaxing we couldn't stay off the decks! The amenities of Big Canoe had something for everyone- great golf course, swimming lake with all the activities and the parks/playground area [great for kickball].

I was invited to a retreat last year at this lake house. It was with 20 people. We had the time of or life so I decided to do it all over again this year with my friends. They heard me talk about this house all year so they are very excited to see it for there self.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, sightseeing, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway, families with young children.

First of all, the pictures don't do it justice. There is a definite WOW factor upon entering the home, and then again when encountering the view for the first time. We had a group of 19 staying at the home for a mini family reunion. The bed was more comfy than my bed at home! The kitchen easily accomodated our group for 3 meals a day (loved the separate ice maker!). The whole family unanimously agreed that it was an ideal place for a large group to gather. Would have liked more canoes, and a heads up on renting pontoon boats in advance, but overall no complaints. We never felt crowded at all. The amenities of Big Canoe had something for everyone--challenging golf courses, a GREAT swim lake with lots of activities. We found a field for family kickball games each evening. The foothills shopping center was convenient for odds and ends we required (jumper cables from Ace Hardware). Dwight & Karen have a truly wonderful piece of paradise and we will keep it in mind for the next time! It was a truly remarkable place for a memorable reunion.

My family selected this location to celebrate my 50th birthday. The setting was perfect and the house was a dream come true! The rooms, furnishings and amenities were superb. A large group convened for the celebratory dinner and there were plenty of serving pieces and place settings for all....there can never be enough coffee mugs in my estimations, but there were here!!!!! Perfect location for a family get together!
