Accommodations:  Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-5)

Keywords:  Apartment

Our Southbank apartment, in the new heart of London, is 100 yards from The Thames behind The OXO Tower between Waterloo Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge.

Our apartment is on the first and second floors of a small, modern block of 16 apartments. The first floor comprises of a double bedroom, shower room, living room with sofa bed and full kitchen. There are patio doors onto a beautiful, planted deck with a table and chairs for al fresco dining. On the second floor is an en suite master bedroom overlooking the garden deck. There is an elevator.

We are very close to the cultural heart of London including The National Theatre, Hayward Gallery, Royal Festival Hall, National Film Theatre, and Tate Modern. They are all within a five to ten minutes walk along the river bank. A little further and you would reach The London Eye, The Houses of Parliament, St Paul's Cathedral and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.

We do a walk that takes about an hour and a half and the only road we have to go on is to cross Tower Bridge.

If you cross Waterloo Bridge, Covent Garden is two minutes away.

If you don't want to walk, our local bus stops outside our door and runs along The River from Covent Garden to The Tower and there are plenty of passing taxis.

We are ten minutes from two tube stops (Waterloo and Blackfriars), which have 5 lines between them as well as British Rail services. For the most picturesque walk along The River, we use Embankment Station, which takes 15 to 20 minutes depending on how many photos you take!

We have plenty of places nearby to eat including four very good restaurants in The OXO Tower, which have great views. There are lots of less expensive restaurants within a short distance, many overlooking The River, and a couple of pubs on The River that serve food and drink throughout the day.

It truly is the best location in London!

Meet and greet services may be available.

We look forward to greeting you.

David and Julia

Great Location!! Great Accommodation!!

Guest: Big H... (Canada)
Date of Stay: 08/02/09 Review Submitted: 08/17/09

This location is ideally suited to visiting all the main attractions in Central London. It is literally two minutes away from the Thames and about a 5 minute walk to the London Eye! (Just to give you a location perspective.) You cannot ask for better than that! The accommodation itself was also ideal. We were a family of three but can also easily accommodate four adults. The flat was very clean and the owner provided excellent service. He provided valuable pre-trip information and was at the flat to greet us when we arrived. He spent the minimal time with instructions since they were all provided in written form and he was off so that we could settle in and start exploring and enjoying beautiful London. I would highly recommend this flat to you and will definitely use it again on our next viisit to London. Thanks so much David for all your kindness in allowing your flat to be used by Homeaway clients.

Owner response:Thank you so much for the review Harvey and look forward to seeing you again.

Perfect and Comfortable London Location

Guest: Heidi (Seattle, WA)
Date of Stay: 11/26/11 Review Submitted: 12/24/11

My mom and I stayed at David and Julia's lovely flat for an early Christmas holiday. The welcome groceries were very much appreciated after a long day of travel. The flat was ideally located for all of our sightseeing activities and it was so nice to come back to after a long day out. The flat is comfortable and very well stocked with everything one might need in a home away from home. We very much enjoyed our most recent visit to London and hope to stay in David and Julia's flat next time.

Owner response:Thanks so much for the review Heidi. Hope to see you both again. Best wishes for 2012 David and Julia

My husband and I and another couple stayed at this apartment for two weeks in August. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by David, Julia and Sebastian and were made to feel at home. The fridge was stocked with breakfast items and we were given a tour of the apartment. The amenities are all anyone would require during a sight-seeing holiday and the terrace is out of this world. It was so pleasant having this outdoor space available to us during our two weeks in London; the photographs don't do it justice. In my opinion, the apartment is perfectly located for sightseeing since it is central to almost everything, our favourite place being the promenade along the Thames, with the lovely views and many restaurants and pubs. When we had questions, David was only an email away. I would certainly recommend this property and hope to stay there again in the future.

Owner response:Thanks so much for the reveiew Lina and we hope to see you again. Best wishes David, Julia and Sebastian

Superbly located London apartment

Guest: Louise H. (Glasgow)
Date of Stay: 04/02/11 Review Submitted: 04/10/11

Superbly located apartment a stone's throw from the London Eye, with many of London's top attractions within walking distance. We never had to travel more than 6 tube stops to go anywhere that we wanted to go, including the O2, which we went to via a sunny boat trip on a Thames Clipper, and returned via the underground. We were there on a sunny week, and the patio garden was greatly appreciated, as was the piano, which our 12 year old son loved. There are lots of good local restaurants within 10 minutes, and Borough Market on Thursday, Friday and Saturday is fabulous for picnic fodder, fruit, cheese and mouthwatering cakes. Apartment is well equipped and clean, with everything that we needed for our week's stay. Welcome groceries were much appreciated. We will definitely book this again for our next trip to London.

Owner response:Thanks for the review, Louise. It was a pleasure to have you and your family stay in our apartment. Best wishes David + Julia

This apartment was a great spot for visiting London. We visited with my two children, ages 5 and 7, and my mother, and found the apartment to be a perfect location to walk to all the sights, even with little ones! We especially enjoyed the proximity to food, pubs, and the sights of Gabriel's Wharf. A great spot!

Owner response:Thanks Sarah. Hope to see you and your family again. Best wishes, David and Julia

Excellent Location

Guest: Barbara L. (Brooklyn, NY, USA)
Date of Stay: 03/03/11 Review Submitted: 03/15/11

March 2011. We have stayed in different locations and apartments around London and this was by far the best. Almost everything is within walking distance and Waterloo Station has 3 very convenient tube lines. The flat was very clean and comfortable. There is not much room to hang out in the living room. However, if the weather is nice, the outdoor space is plentiful. David was very responsive to emails and inquiries. He allowed us to check in early which was much appreciated. There are some provisions (spices, etc) in the kitchen if you want to do a bit of home cooking. Appliances are a bit tricky if you are from the US (at least for me)...symbols are not that intuitive. I would stay in the flat again and have already recommended it to friends.

Owner response:Thanks for your review Barbara and hope to see you again soon. Best wishes David

Great location in London

Guest: Sadie (England)
Date of Stay: 02/24/11 Review Submitted: 03/08/11

This appartment is in an ideal location and is very comfortable. It's great for walking along the river to Westminster or lunch in the Oxo building. The property was very clean and homely and we really appreciated the supplies when we arrived. The appartment is well equipped and is a home from home. We welcomed the wifi access. The outside patio is pleasant although it was too rainy to fully appreciate it. We did feel, however, that the sofa in the living room needs replacing as it is uncomfortable and looks at little tired. The owner welcomed us on arrival and allowed us to book in early, giving us a tour around the flat.. He responded quickly to our emails. We would use the appartment again.

Owner response:New sofa bed for the lounge is being delivered on Friday, 11 March 2011

Our Family Stay

Guest: Perthites (Perth, Western Australia)
Date of Stay: 12/22/10 Review Submitted: 01/20/11

A very comfortably, warm and well situated and secure apartment. The location was excellent within easy walking distance to the very heart of London. However, the only downside was that with 5 people, two adults and three teenagers, we found that the living area became a little cramped. If the weather had been better, we may have extended the living arrangements to the beautiful deck area. On the whole a lovely and well appointed apartment; I would not hesitate to recommend the apartment to others.

Great Location and Property

Guest: Julie (Kelmscott Western Australia)
Date of Stay: 08/30/10 Review Submitted: 10/25/10

We are 2 couples from Perth Western Australia, in our late 40's who rented Davids flat 30th August to 3rd September 2010. The location of the flat is within walking distance of Waterloo Station, London Eye, Thames and many restaurants and perfect for everything we needed. The photos are very accurate and the flat was perfect for our needs. David met us on our arrival and was very helpful with information on the area and answered any questions we had. David also stocked the fridge for our arrival, which was very kind of him. There are many restaurants in the area and the local pub on the corner (Stamford Arms), a bus passes the front door and the tubes and trains are only a couple of minutes walk at Waterloo. Kitchen was very well equipped including dishwasher and washer/dryer which came in very handy. Bedrooms were very spacious and plenty of storage space, it was also very convienient having the 2 bathrooms. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone wishing to visit London and would be perfect for any age group Thanks once again David for you kind hospitality.

Owner response:Thanks so much Julie and hope to see you again soon.

Wonderful stay on the South Bank

Guest: lilheathen (New Mexico)
Date of Stay: 05/26/10 Review Submitted: 06/09/10

The flat was exactly as discribed. My husband, three children (19, 13, and 7 years old) found the flat to be large enough to accomodate our entire family. My husband and I stayed in the upper bedroom with an en suite bath, while two of the children shared the lower bedroom and another slept on the pull-out couch. There are stairs that are internal to the flat between the levels as well as an elevator and a separate entrace for the two levels should more privacy be wanted. David met us at the flat exactly on time and did a wonderful job greeting us! David provided welcoming groceries for the kitchen which was wonderful. There are several groceries within a few minutes walk so we were able to eat quite a few of our meals in. The flat is a one minute walk from the south bank prominade that has many restaurants, places for entertainment (London Eye and aquarium only a 5-7 minute walk away). We also walked the 7 minutes to the Globe Theater to watch a play. I would definately recommend this centerally located flat for other travelers! The garden area was beautiful!
