Why the Owner Chose Cotati
There are 3 main reasons we choose to buy our townhouse in Cotati. First it's easy to get to from San Francisco, just 45 miles North, off of Hwy 101. Secondly, is the central Sonoma Wine Country location. While not in a wine appellation proper we border the Russian River appellation and are 20-30 minutes from the 6 main wine regions in Sonoma County (great for doing day trips to different areas). Finally, it's central to so many services and other towns; Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Petaluma, Sebastopol and Sonoma State University are all our neighbors. Not only are guests staying at Villa Sonoma to enjoy wine country but also for family weddings/reunions and extended business trips.
The Unique Benefits at this Sonoma County Townhouse
The most frequent comment we receive from guests is how welcome, comfortable & calm they feel at Villa Sonoma. That's exactly how the place you escape to should feel! We've given it a tranquil ambiance so that it's a wonderful place to relax. You'll get a good nights sleep on a pillow-top mattress that is triple sheeted with a down blanket and high count sheets and then spend your day exploring sites and towns of Sonoma County. Also, the village of Cotati has all the services and conveniences you need: Oliver's Grocery, Starbucks, Walgreens, wine shop, post office, cafes and restaurants.
Local grocery, similar to Whole Foods. Deli, award winning bakery, lots of prepared foods. Casual eateries, Starbucks and other shoppes.
36-hole public golf course and large popular wedding/social venue.
In June their 7 acre lavender field blooms and is beautiful, like Provence France. (Great for photos.) They sell lavender products too. Bennett Valley is a small valley with a few wineries.
18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. 1990. Few trees and rolling fairways.
Santa Rosa's Old Town, restored Victorian buildings, speciality shoppes, Antique Row, cafes and restaurants. Very charming. Exit off Hwy 101 at Downtown Santa Rosa, turn left.
18 hole course, home of many PGA Nike Tour Events. Exit at Shilo Road off of Hwy 101, go West.
Numerous wineries line Hwy 12 north of downtown Sonoma. This is our favorite! Beautiful gardens, a small deli and extensive retail shop. The reserve wine tasting outside is excellent & educational.
Quaint shoppes, cafes & restaurants surround a town square/park. Great for a picnic, there is a deli in the Cheese Factory on the square for picnic foods. Several wineries just outside of town.
This is the southern edge of the Russian River Valley. Numerous wineries continue north & west from here.
805 acres of Redwoods, old growth and 2nd generation. Picnic areas, paved roadways and hiking trails.
Northern edge of Russian River Valley, numerous wineries south & west. Rodney Strong has great wines at entry level & higher end, a summer jazz concert series and very knowledgeable staff.
Chalk Hill Wine Appellation is one of the smallest, Chalk Hill Estate Vineyards is its premier grower. A beautiful stone tasting room, and other buildings are set in the rolling chalk hills.
Our favorite Sonoma Wine Country town! Picturesque with a town square surrounded by shoppes, tasting rooms, cafes and more. We also think the best collection of award winning restaurants.
Serviced by Horizon/Alaska Airlines from Seattle, Portland, LA and Vegas. Also major rental car companies.
The beginning of Alexander Valley with several wineries north & east. Simi is 125 years old and sits in a small Redwood Grove infront of a 100 year old stone cellar house.
We love this winery! Family owned and in the middle of nothing but vineyards. The tasting room in a white dutch barn adjacent to the wine making facilities. Outstanding wines, especially their reds.
Dry Creek Valley is renown for Zinfandels wines, there are numerous wineres northwest and southwest of here. Mazzocco has several labels of award winning Zinfandels.
The northern end of both Dry Creek Valley & Alexander Valley. A modern tasting room, very friendly staff, we especially love their white wines! We start wine tasting here and work our way back south.
In case you are looking for a casino. It's a good size, fairly new and not over the top 'Vegas Style', a little more modest. It's pretty popular.
Seaside village, seals are frequent visitors. The Links golf course: 18 holes, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. design and $1.2M reno. The drive north along the Sonoma County Coast is breath taking!
Amazing ocean views from a bluff as you drive down to the beach. This beach along with Bodega Bay and Armstrong Redwoods make for a great day trip that circles back to the townhouse.
60 outlet stores: Coach, Saks Off 5th, Gap, Nike, Bose, Banana Republic, Brook Brothers, Gymboree, Ann Taylor, Puma, Tommy Hilfiger.
Owner's Map of Cotati
Sonoma & Heaven, they seem like the same word to us! We have become Sonoma County Aficionados who love all Sonoma County has to offer. From the wineries and amazing restaurants in the wine country towns, to the rugged coastal vistas, beaches and redwood forest. It is truly an amazing California Coastal County!
Our weekend home is in the heart of Sonoma County and we drive up frequently from the city. We love to get out and about in both Sonoma and Napa Counties to see the sites and visit the numerous wineries, our favorites along with new ones. Also during the Summer and Harvest Seasons there are many winery events, food & wine festivals, concerts, barrel tastings and Farmers Markets.
Live well, laugh often & love always!
Larry & John
