In the morning, breakfast on your lanai in the dappled sunshine filtering through the palm fronds and watch the colorful tropical birds or perhaps walk to Lulu's famous $5 breakfast just down the road. Then go exploring! Soak up the sun and the exotic Hawaiian atmosphere as you stroll down Ali'i Drive, the beach road that winds its way along the interesting shops of the historic village of Kailua-Kona. Along the way, enjoy a cup of world famous Kona coffee which is grown right on the slope above Kailua-Kona. You will discover the Kona Farmer's Market less than a block away for fresh fruit and vegetables, exotic flowers and authentic Hawaiian souvenirs and gifts. Dine at one of the 150 different restaurants every night. Check out the clubs and bars then simply stroll back to your condo. NELHA - National Energy Labs Hawaii (by the Kona airport), take the on-site free tour! King Kamehameha Palace - a tour within easy walking distance from your condo! Central to the famous Ironman Triathlon World Competition first half of October. The farmer's market for fresh fruit, produce, exotic flowers, Kona coffee and authentic Hawaiian-made souvenirs is just a half-block away, all at very reasonable prices. Luau's and hula shows nearby. Wyland Art Gallery is next door. For only a couple dollars each way you can take an open-air trolley, The Honu Express along Ali'i Drive through town between shopping malls, stopping at different beaches and shops en-route. You can see the sights in town while doing some shopping or getting out to do some snorkeling at one of the many bays! It's a fun way to get around! Great condo, great location!
I spent three weeks in the condo. There was everything I needed to live and work. I hooked the TV up to my laptop to make a giant monitor for it. The wifi was a bit spotty, but I understand it has been updated since then. The location is great - only a few minutes from everything in Kona including the market and the library. By the way you can get a three month library card for $10 at the library. It is good anywhere in the state of Hawaii.

Owner response: Thanks for selecting condo #216 for your 2012 stay. The WiFi signal from the lobby is weak due to usage by other guests in the lobby. So Sharon and I installed our own private in-condo high-speed internet router with coverage extending out to the pool, hot tub and BBQ areas. This private signal allows Skype and Viber to work great too! I recently stayed for a week in this condo, which is a privately owned condo and I loved it. I found their place to be clean and comfortable with nice furnishings, well equipped kitchenette, very comfy bed, and a fantastic pool view lit up with tiki torches at night. Their condo is in the perfect location in Kailua Kona with lots to do and within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and beaches. The pool was clean and inviting and I would return to this condo in the Kona Islander without hesitation and recommend it to family and friends...

My husband & I stayed for a week and the small but clean condo in a great location worked well for us. I like to cook; so it I were staying longer, it would have been less convenient with the limited kitchen. But the folks at Islander Inn were great; and the place clean and well maintained. We were there for the tsunami evacuation; the staff were very capable and made the evacuation process as easy as possible.

"Myself & my girlfirend stayed in the condo for the Hawaii Ironman in October 2012. The location is absolutely perfect, being so close to all the action of downtown Kona and supermarkets further up Palani Road. Being in between Alii Drive and the Kuakini highway means you have both a busy street on 1 side or a quiet option the other. The Kona Islander Inn, despite being in the thick of the action, is very quiet. The complex grounds and garden are very well kept and the staff helpful. Additionally there was never a wait for either the laundry room or shared bar-b-qs. The condo itself was very clean, spacious and had more than enough facilities for cooking. There was also a tv but this was never turned on by us as Kona is too beautiful to spend time watching tv! I will miss having meals on the balcony, with the smell of the bar-b-q down below". It was such a welcoming pleasure to arrive at your condo after a long evening flight. Your condo was very clean upon arrival and had such a warm welcoming feel. We felt very much at home. Your kitchen was so cute and with the large fridge it was so great to be able to go shopping at the market & costco and be able to buy food for more than a day or so use. Your microwave, deep electric frying pan and steamer were well used and was just great for cooking everything. Your kitchen is very well equipped and 3 people were able to work (co-ordinately) in it. Your bathroom is also very nice and was very clean.. We really liked the condo layout and your bed and pull out bed were very comfortable. We enjoyed our coffee and breakfast in the morning on your lani looking out to the wonderful plumeria trees and the pool area. The grounds are maintained so well and are so beautiful. Our dinners were so peaceful and we enjoyed sitting out on the lani at night watching the tiki torches being lit and watching the sun set.. we were in paridise for sure. You have all the things we needed for the beach. We really appreciated the beach chairs and other goodies and the cooler too. Your flat screen TV was also watched lots, with the games in London, we would come home after an awesome day at the beach or shopping and then get caught up on the games. (from the livingroom area or the lani) It is so nice to see modern upgrades in the condo. All in all I would and will recommend your condo to my friends and family and others reading these comments. I hope to be back soon and stay in your condo. We all had a super time.

We had a fantastic time staying at the popular seaside Kona Islander Condominiums right in town a number of years ago when we visited historic Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. You can't help but fall in love with the Hawaiian culture and Aloha spirit. We've always thought that someday we would like to own our own piece of paradise. We chose this condo at this complex because there are no condos situated better than this one! We've vacationed in the other Hawaiian islands. Exploring the Big Island of Hawaii and using our comfortable condo in its beautiful setting and very convenient location, we've concluded that it can't be beat. With all the shopping and restaurants nearby there is no need to rent a car if you choose not to. We love it here and so do our children and grandchildren. You will too!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
South-facing, our pool-view condo's unique position affords us viewing both sunrise and sunset. Our second floor condo is more private and secure than any ground floor condos. Dappled sunshine filtering through the shade tree off our lanai allows a leisurely breakfast on the lanai without the heat and glare of the tropical sun. Around 10 a.m. the lanai is bathed in sunshine until it's time for lunch around 2 p.m. when the shade returns. The third floor condos generally do not have the benefit of the shade from the trees. We enjoy having a drink at sunset while overlooking the beautiful tiki torch lit pool from our own private second floor lanai. It is especially romantic when the golden moon rises into a star-studded obsidian sky. In the still of the morning, the sunrise is majestic! Colourful tropical birds make for spectacular bird watching from our lanai as we enjoy our breakfast. We are well situated to catch the gentle tropical sea breeze which flows like silk from the lanai through our condo. Later, we may see how the bananas are ripening on the banana trees planted outside our condo's entry door or, perhaps, check if any ripe fruit has fallen from the tall papaya trees or indeed, any of the many different types of tropical fruit trees scattered around the complex grounds. When you zoom in using the hybrid satellite map below, our condo is directly up and across the blue oval pool from the green marker. You will notice that our condo building backs onto a treed, grassy area. It is the only one of the resort's 7 plantation-style buildings which does not back onto the various parking lots nor does it back onto any roads like the others do.
