Beautiful NEW Large Lakefront Home, 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, 3000+ sq ft. This house was designed and built for entertaining and family vacations in mind. This is our personal home and due to family health reasons, we are not able to occupy full-time and thus offering to share our home with other families. We are not a commercial enterprise nor a property managed group. The main floor features a large open floor plan with wide “antiqued” pine wood flooring throughout. The kitchen is equipped with custom maple cabinets, commercial series SS Kitchen-Aid appliances (double oven/MW, 6 burner gas stove top, pot-filler, dishwasher, 2 door refrigerator w/ lower freezer) farmhouse style granite double sink, and a large workable Island with seating. The Great Room has high vaulted ceilings, massive stone gas fireplace with thermostat and auto features, leather couch, loveseat, chaise and matching auxiliary chairs. An armoire houses a 42” LCD TV, DVD, and Satellite receiver. The dining has table/chairs for 8. Guest half bath with custom vanity, bowl sink, granite top, and oil-rubbed bronze facets. The Master suite has large queen sleigh bed with special emphasis on the master bath, including heated natural slate tile floors, custom tile shower, free-standing contemporary tub with telephone style facet/handheld shower and custom vanity with bowl sink and oil-rubbed bronze faucets...a PERFECT spot to end the day! Makes an excellent Romantic getaway! Adjoining the master bath is entrance to the laundry, equipped with Samsung front loading Steam Washer/Dryer. Thick treaded, logged railed staircase leads to the second level loft with a Day bed and Trundle, including a full-bath. #2 bedroom with queen canopy bed & # 3 bedroom with full bed. The basement includes bedroom #4, full bath and a entertainment room with 55' LCD TV, Blue Ray DVD, and 7.1 stereo surround for the gamer or family movie! A slide out patio door leads to the backyard for outside 'covered' sitting with table/4 chairs and a rocker .
Sleeping: We have 2 queen beds, 1 full bed, 2 twin beds, day bed with trundle, and sofa sleeper. We also have air-up mattresses (w/ pump) available. Rates are for up to 10 guests, there is a $10/night charge for guests exceeding 10.

The house was immaculate and luxurious. The kitchen has every amenity needed. The owners were very flexible and easy to work with. Will definitely come back again for a longer visit next time.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

This place is absolutely stunning. This was the second straight year we have stayed in this cabin and it was just as wonderful as I remembered it. It is impeccably decorated and somehow strikes the perfect balance between spacious yet cozy. We had 11 people staying and had plenty of room for everyone. The men of our group loved playing corn hole outside and exploring down by the water. The beds were all very comfortable and we all felt well rested when we awoke in the morning. I would recommend this place for anyone.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We found this cabin to be above our expectations...we cooked most of the weekend at the cabin it was clean, nice equipped kitchen and big gas grill, movies, games. we loved meeting the homeowner and his son while we stayed there and the pictures of how they built the log cabin themselves. We will definitely recommend and return.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

The house was beautiful and very roomy. We had a problem with the heat pump warming the house but the fire place took the chill out of the air. The heated master bathroom floor was not on so the stones were quite cold when walking in there barefoot. The backyard was a great place to play corn hole and throw the football. Beware of the next door neighbors tho, the football went into their yard once, my attorney son in law ran over to get it and the owner yelled at him, telling him if he stepped one foot into his yard again he was going to call the police!! All adults were staying there so its not like we had kept them up all night with a loud party!! All in all we had a great mini reunion and will keep this property in mind for next year!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Our family so enjoyed our stay at this gorgeous cabin. It certainly lived up to the pictures on the VRBO site. It was large, warm, comfortable, cozy and so inviting. The home was so well decorated and immaculate, which we so appreciated. The beautiful kitchen was well stocked. The master bath was "state of the art". The backyard was large and a great place for the kids to romp. Great selection of board games & DVDs. We did wish that the lake would have been more visible and accessible from the cabin, but all the other advantages to this home certainly made our stay memorable. The owner was very kind and accessible.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Excellent facilities! Very clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything needed. Gorgeous furnishings with a rustic cabin feel. Lakefront was low due to drought so we were disappointed in the water level. Otherwise everything was excellent. Highly recommended....check on lakefront level before booking if that is an important amenity to you.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway.

The house is beautiful. We had a total of 14 and it was a bit tight but workable. The house is perfect for a group with a big TV in the basement where our kids hung out and a nice sized TV in the great room. The owners have supplied a wonderful selection of DVD's and games. The yard is nice and big and we spent a lot of time on the deck which overlooks the backyard and woods down to the lack. The grill is amazing. We grilled every night. The lake was very low so we could not swim off the dock but we did fish every night and that was perfect. Pretty much every time we tossed a line in we caught a fish. We spent a lot of time boating. The lake is very clean and we had it to ourselves. We were able to get a pontoon boat up to the dock without any problem. The owners are very nice people and easy to work with. All in all a great place to vacation.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

First off the house is beautiful with lots of outdoor "play" room. We sent most of our time out front on the porch or out back. -For a VRBO the owners need to add more cooking pots/pans (most were cast iron) cookie sheets, -There were NO hand towels in the bathrooms (?not sure why) -The upstairs mattresses were horrible, my husband swore that they were 2 sets of box springs stacked on each other. Something must be done about this, either a plush topper or a new high quality mattress. -Lastly... lakefront, I guess that depends on your idea of lakefront. The lake is not visible from the house at least this time of year. It is a walk down a path. Not sure what happened to the dock/stairs... the stairs and dock no longer meet... I would guess that the lake is low? The said "lake" that is behind the house has more weeds than water at this point. There was not going to be any swimming or boating from this location. So aside from these disappointments we had a fantastic time. There is plenty of space for a multi family gathering. If you are traveling from out of town.... remember that this county is dry, so get your booze or beer before arriving here!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

My sister and I met with the kids for a relaxing weekend together. The house was immaculate and spacious. Plenty of beds for everyone to sleep comfortably. Kitchen was well stocked and the outdoor grill was a dream. Kids played football and tag in the huge grassy yard. The dock was great for fishing and everyone enjoyed the paddle boat. Mammoth Cave was an easy 20 minute drive from the cabin and we loved our cave tour there one afternoon. We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our time together.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

About the owner: We work in the healthcare field. We are very much outdoors/lake people. We love entertaining and feel we have built an excellent home to do so. We work in Louisville (100 miles away) and due to family reasons, have decided to share our home with other like-minded families, reunions, or retreats on the lake when we are absent. This location fits that purpose. We love our home and all the amenities it provides along with the nearby activities.
Why the Owner Chose Barren River Lake:
We are currently unable to use our home as planned. We are offering our home to those who can enjoy it as we do. This place creates very special memories. The house itself allows for full entertainment, romantic getaways, large yard offers activities and the easily accessible dock makes the lake very enjoyable, whether just dock fishing or the complete activities one can enjoy.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Fishing, kayaking, and swimming in the cove are some of our favorite things to do. We also enjoy taking a boat out tubing and just hanging out. The house is certainly equipped to hold large gatherings for cook outs (we've had entire volleyball teams over). My wife and I have also enjoyed having the home to ourselves for a nice romantic weekend. Very enjoyable.
