Unit #1 is called Maggie's Retreat: three bedrooms featuring two queen beds and two twins, plus a comfortable sleeper sofa, furnished kitchen w/microwave, gas stove, DW, and a long farmer's table for gatherings, lots of windows and natural light, hardwood floors, two stories, washer and dryer with laundry chute, two TV's with DirecTV, and cable internet (summer only). Deck and porch go with Maggie's Retreat.
Unit Two is called Surfer Joe: two bedrooms featuring two queen beds, furnished kitchen, FUN decor that inspires a light heart, TV with cable, cozy outdoor bistro style area with lantern lights and grill. Absolutely charming and private.
The Studio Cottage is Sheila's Shack, and it's an adorable and comfortable carriage house. It fits 2 people (only) and features a t.v.,dvd player, mini kitchen with coffee maker, refrigerator and toaster oven. It has a 3/4 bathroom/dressing room as well.
Garage has bikes, Burley, kayaks and beach toys for your enjoyment.

Why the Owner Chose South Haven
This is my childhood home! Although we haven't lived here in many years, we only decided in 2005 to make it into a vacation rental since it truly is in a wonderful location, and the property itself is ideal for large families wishing to stay together, yet seperate, between the three units. The 3 block walk to the beach is lovely and you are also only 2 blocks from charming downtown South Haven. Our guests come back again and again, letting us know that we are doing something right! We have tried to provide everything WE would want in a vacation home. Choose Three by the Sea for your large family gathering. We feel sure you'll want to come back!
The Unique Benefits at this House
Aside from a wonderful location, we have a garage stocked with a whole fleet of bicycles for nearly all ages, kayaks, gas AND charcoal grills, beach toys, a Burley to wheel everything to the beach, and more! There are plenty of outdoor areas to relax or play: we have a hammock, a deck, and a porch; we have a basketball court, a picnic table, and a tree chair swing that the kids love. Indoors we have comfy beds, a two large kitchens, two washers/dryers, games, books, and an open floor plan for games, t.v., and more.
This is a public beach, well-suited for all ages. This is the beach you always see in the postcards of South Haven, not just because of its sandy beauty, but because of the pier located on the South
A 32 mile rails-to-trails bike path that goes between South Haven and Kalamazoo. Beautiful trail for running or cycling! X-C skiing in winter.

This place was truly perfect for our families. We rented out all three units and there were 15 of us altogether (7 adults, 8 kids). We had a great time. Overall, this place is clean and practical, but certainly not luxurious. Most things at the house were in good working order, but it isn't the Four Seasons. Here are a few quick pros and cons: PROS * Location -- very close to both the beach (South Beach) and the town. It was an easy five minute walk to both. When we went in late June, the beach was not crowded. * Space -- the house was laid out nicely for a weeklong beach vacation. * Bikes -- There are probably like 7-10 bikes in the garage. All the bikes worked, but you won't be riding in the Tour de France. They will get you to the beach and back just fine. * Kayaks -- There are three kayaks for use. We used one and had a blast. * Yard Space -- there is a great side yard with a basketball court. The kids spent tons of time playing in the yard space. * Wi-fi -- This is not advertised, but I was glad to have wi-fi that worked well. CONS * Not luxurious. Clean and functional for sure, but not luxurious. For example, some of the windows did not stay open. * Outdoor eating space was a bit scant. * The coach house is really only a sleeping quarters.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.

We had a family reunion with people at three by the sea and four by the shore. We had a wonderful time at the beach and in town. The homes were comfortable and well-equipped, especially with the large inventory of bikes. We had one great day of surfing on Lake Michigan after a storm. I recommend reading "Bel Canto" from the library in the hammock.

We've stayed at three by the sea for three years now. The location in South Haven is unbeatable. Two blocks from downtown and two blocks from the stairs leading to South Beach. I enjoy dozing in the hammock on the wrap around porch while my kids play basketball. We hit the shops, the great restaurants, and enjoy walks around the harbor area. The accomodations are quite comfortable, and their is plenty of room inside the house for dining and relaxation as well. I would highly recommend this vacation property for anyone wanting to get away from it all and relax for a week in the summer!

This rental property has a very cute, yellow Cape Cod exterior appearance, and a neat side deck and back patio complete with flowers and a garden. There's a nicely stocked garage complete with a new and clean BBQ and lots of bicycles/cruisers, which are a wonderful way to explore the nearby town and coffee shops. Beach is about 8 blocks away, and a nice bike ride. Town is quaint and can be thoroughly explored in a day or two. This home is spacious and inviting; albeit simply appointed. It's perfect for a trip with extended family b/c of the attached yet separate other 2 residences...all in all, there is the Maggie's Retreat, Joe's Surf Hut (name?) and Sheila's Shack. That way, in-laws are close and yet so far...perfect!
