  Our family enjoyed our time at Backsplash. We appreciated the beach chairs and umbrellas, however a couple were not in good shape, also, there were 3, not 4, bikes. However, this did not hinder our having a pleasant experience. We would hope to come back next Memorial Day week-end. The owner was very accomodating, and we definitely would refer this property to others.

  We got there and the sheets were not on the beds, the kids in the bunk room slept on dirty sheets the first night. The cleaning crew came the second day, placed folded clean sheets on the bunks, but did not make the beds up. Along with that they went through many of our bags.. not sure what they were looking for but luckily nothing was noticed missing. The owner came later that day and was extremely rude, as if we were not welcome in his house.. Despite the fact we were paying him several thousand dollars to stay there. He claimed we had stained his "very expensive rug" which in reality was a old, dingy, dirty area rug from walmart. There is no stain.. the whole rug was a giant stain. On top of that the next day the A/C stopped working.. it stayed this way for the remainder of our stay. We were lucky the windows opened. Though it is a decently pretty house with a nice pool deck, in the middle of beautiful blue mountain beach, I know there are hundreds of better places to stay in that area.. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOUSE/OWNER.

  Owner response: This reservation was placed by a mother of a teenager who decided NOT to come with her child (as told to us), nor provide any adult supervision at all for these group of young boys. They arrived early and the house was not cleaned and ready for them to check in but they moved in anyway and claimed the house must have been cleaned by the previous guests. We offered to provide them with clean towels and sheets to replace those in the wash (obviously the house was not ready). When my houskeeping crew went in the house to remove the used towels, they found drugs wrapped in a towel. NO ONE WENT thru anyone's luggage. We should have reported this to the police, but didn't. When we checked on the property the following day, since we were conceerned that something was not "right,", we found out that there wasn't any supervision on these kids, they had already trashed the kitchen and den areas and made a huge mess on the pool decking...within 24 hours. We contacted one of the other boy's mother who agreed to come stay with this group of boys or they would be kicked out for violating our rental agreement. She came and the group was fine for the rest of the trip, although they did leave a hole in the sheetrock. There was no air conditioning problem with this property either. I beleive we went out of our way, NOT to evict a group who, lead by thier mother, thought it was ok to rent a property for kids under the age of 25, without supervision. This is totally forbidden by our rental agreement. Please read all the TRUE reviews of this great beach house to get the real feel for it.

  We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation at this property. The house exceeded our expectations and the large heated pool was wonderful! We were impressed with the friendly and helpful owner/assistant as well. We have vacationed for several years in the Blue Mountain Beach area and would definitely return to this home. Thank you!

  From first sight at arrival to last second before pulling out of the drive, our time at Backlash was greately enjoyed. The house was clean, beautifully decorated, the pool was magnificent and the beach access was exactly a 2-3 minute walk. It was enough space for 4 separate families to stay comfortably.

  The house was great. Fit 3 families in without any difficulty. Great location - a short walk to the great beach. The pool is large and roomy for everyone to swim and the pool deck is sizeable with ample room for everyone. House well equipped. Only suggestion would be a few more pots & pans and cooking utensils. A great house overall. Would stay again!

  A group of us traveled together for a friend's wedding in Seaside. This house was not too far away. We had a great time! We loved the house and pool! Some of us rented bikes right down the street and had fun adventures taking them out during the day. Overall, a very fun experience! Only negatives: we had some issues with the Master bathroom's toilet and were afraid to use it the entire trip. I also would not recommend this to older people that may have trouble with stairs. With the main kitchen being on the top floor, we were up and down a lot.

  Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

  this house was perfect for our 4 couples and 6 kids ages 7-14. the house was super clean and the kitchen was stocked with so much stuff it was great! the kitchen and living room was on 3rd level which we didn't mind-nice to get the extra exercise(cause we always eat more on vacation:). the best part was the HUGE pool and outside area! we rent every year and this has been the best house for us and our kids after our rental last year being a disaster we were a bit nervous. the cul de sac was great we could let the kids ride their bikes while we sat and watched from porch! if we needed anything it was done immediately!! we had great vacation thanks to karen!!

  great house! pool area/size was the best! the only down fall for this house was the stairs. none of my family had issues but it could be a problem if you had someone with mobility issues.

  We enjoyed a wonderful week at BackSplash. The house was very comfortable for our group (7 adults and three toddlers). We had planned the vacation for over a year and then the terrible oil disaster occurred. We debated whether we should cancel our vacation, but decided to go and are very glad we did. We would walk to the beach each morning and spend the afternoon in the beautiful pool. The pictures and description are very accurate. We played golf at near by courses and had a good experience there. We ate out and also purchased local seafood and cooked at the house. The location is good, the house well maintained and comfortable. I would recommend this house to anyone.
