  • The way to experience Freeport

"I am comfortable recommending this condo. The location, ocean front, close to Port Lucaya and the bar next door make it the best location on Grand Bahama island. I have been coming to Freeport for 30 years and a few years ago, sold my condo. This place is my choice. I also rent a car when there, and there is ample parking and then you can see all the "things to see and do", and have easy access to the many excellent restaurants. I finally did Peterson's Cay and we felt it was one of the best snorkeling adventures we have ever done. Be sure to select a nice day, not excessively windy and do not go at low tide. Check the on line tide charts. Diana, the owner and Salandra, the office manager are always a pleasure to work with. One of the things that I particularly liked, was the fully stocked kitchen with the open wall to the dining area. The condo is as the pics show. Wonderful."

  • Amazing Vacation Rental!

"If we had known how much we were going to enjoy Freeport, we would have stayed longer! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and having such wonderful hosts make a world of difference. The home came with the use of a car – a Volvo station wagon. We ended up naming her Penelope – a great car that you'll enjoy driving on the wrong side of the road with :-) She's an older car, so be kind, but she'll take you everywhere you need to go, and then some. Gas is a little pricey in The Bahamas, but the freedom of being able to drive about and explore is priceless. (Note: some of the excursions on the island will charge you less if you drive yourself there and they don't pick you up.) Food is also a little more expensive in The Bahamas, so if you don't want to eat out all the time like us lazy people, the house has a great kitchen equipped with everything you'll need to make a meal. They even provide purified water for you, although tap water is harmful if you decide to drink it. If you're concerned that the owners live right next door, don't be. They won't intrude on your day as much as you won't be intruding on theirs. If you're concerned it doesn't have a pool, you're being silly. You're on Grand Bahama Island with gorgeous beaches. Highlights of what this home has to offer: * full sized, fully equipped kitchen * cable TV and reliable Internet! * washer and dryer * King-sized bed in the master bedroom with great pillows (we only used 1 room of 3) * Volvo station wagon (Penelope), and she has a couple of beach chairs and umbrellas in the back * silence – the nights were so quiet, and we had no issues with sleeping in either even though the sun was up around 6am * no tourists nearby, which is a huge bonus for us This is definitely the place to stay if you want to get away from it all, yet have all the comforts of home you're used to. We'll be saving to come back for another visit!"

  • Nice relaxing spot

"We had a great time staying at the Riviera Villas. The manager was very personable and helpful about where things are on the island, local events, etc. We didn't mind that we weren't on the beach because it took 3 seconds to walk there. It's closer to the quieter end of the beach, which we really liked. The condo is also very close to town. We did not rent a car since we were only there for 5 days and planned on staying in the area. It's a great walk along the beach to the Lucaya Market (also safe at night but watch out for the rising tide!) The condo itself was clean, quiet and comfortable. Wifi is available which is really nice for looking things up (although they do provide a map). The owner was very helpful as well and prompt with her email responses and following up. There are a couple of things that I would say were less than favorable. We were told we may have to buy paper products for the condo (as in TP and what-have-you). We didn't have to since there were two rolls, but I wasn't thrilled about the idea that I would have to stock the condo with essentials like that. I'm not sure if it would have even been feasible that first day - that would have been VERY inconvenient. There also wasn't any dish soap. There was a bottle under the sink of very watered down soap - someone was clearly trying to make it stretch. Again, I just feel that things like that should be provided. Great place to stay overall and would highly recommend for a beautiful relaxing vacation."

  • Fabulous Place!

"Wow. I hardly know where to even begin with this review! We loved everything about our stay at Old Bahama Bay! Our unit was perfect for our needs, super clean with perfect access to the water. We counted 47 steps from our porch to the beach! We enjoyed snorkeling, kayaking, swimming in the pool, riding bikes around the property, playing shuffleboard, relaxing in the hammock or lawn chair on the beach. Harold at the activity hut is probably the most delightful person I have ever met. So warm, enthusiastic, helpful, and simply charming in every way! We also were able to meet owners Steve and Ellen, and they too are wonderful folks. Steve and I exchanged multiple emails from the time we decided to stay here until the time we arrived, and he answered my endless questions with great patience and a sweet attitude. (Usually within minutes!). The food at the Teasers, the Tiki Bar was very good, especially the coconut french toast, though they close early during the week. The food at the marina was quite disappointing, and the service extremely slow, so bypass that choice for an early dinner at Teasers, or grill something yourself on one of the multiple grills on the property. I highly recommend renting a car so that you can see a bit of the rest of the Island. DO NOT MISS the Gold Rock beach, part of the Lucayan National Park. It is simply breathtaking, though does require a bit of a walk to get to. While this vacation was our first trip to the Bahamas, it certainly will not be our last!"
