  • Absolutely Awesome!

"Had an absolutely fabulous time staying at Casa Ceiba. House was great and help from Kelly (conceirge) and Emilce's cooking were outstanding. Staying here was one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica having close access to variety of activities from zip-lining to ATV to horseback riding. Lilander's Appalosa stables and horseback riding excursion to "secret" waterfall will be something we will never forget and would highly recommend. Views from home and variety of flowers and wildlife were truly beautiful. Thank you!"

  • Highly recommend

"We had a fabulous week in this beautiful home and setting! It is perfect for 2 couples. The views and gardens on the property are amazing. We enjoyed picking limes from the orchard. The location is central giving you the option for many day trips or many days to lounge by the pool and enjoy the property. Carol is so helpful and Diane, the local manager is just a phone call away and made sure we had everything we needed. I also recommend you stop in to the Los Barillos Super Mercado just down the road. Our new friend Ariam works there, speaks good English and will help you with anything as well! Don't hesitate to book this place-it exceeded our expectations!"

  • Breathtaking Views - Beautiful Home Away from Home!

"We could not have been happier at our stay here! We have never been to Costa Rica and were excited to stay in a home that would serve as our base camp to sightsee and explore this beautiful country. Quinta Colina Paula was perfect! From the beautiful furnishings and decoration, to the impeccable cleanliness, to the helpful property managers, to the amazing pool and outdoor living space, this house has it all!! We wanted for nothing during our stay, except for a car which we rented a couple days into the trip because things were farther away than we anticipated. Even the pathway into the house from the gate is long, winding, and steep, which is great for viewing and privacy but can be strenuous for some. We loved the little town of Atenas with its friendliness and rural feel. Aad and Marian were fantastic property managers/tour guides/informants! We felt cared for by both of them, and we learned so much from them! We suggest you have them pick you up at the airport and take you to town because they can share with you a lot of information and help you get your bearings. We also stopped at the local supermercado to get food and drinks during our pick up. A great day trip is the El Toledo Organic Coffee plantation tour with lunch at a Tican house prepared by a Tia of the coffee plantation - real authentic experience is priceless. Poas and LaPaz were awesome and relatively close. Jaco is enjoyed by the teenagers and surfers. We cannot wait to come back and stay at Quinta Colina again - as it was the perfect place to just get lost and relaxed for a day and then walk to Guanacaste restaurant or the Ceviche shop just up the road a few houses; while at the same time, the central location made it perfect to explore. The weather was perfect too! New Year's Eve was so special as we watched the fireworks light up the night sky over San Jose from the Quinta. Con mucho gusto we write this review! You'll love it!"

  • Wonderful jungle house

"My extended family group of four persons stayed at this beautiful house for two nights. The house is located in an enclosed compound in the jungle a few miles from town. There are several fruit trees surrounding the house. We were awakended both mornings by a howler monkey and other jungle sounds. The pool was great. During our stay the washing machine was broken. Only two of the bedrooms are air conditioned. The pictures of the house do not do it justice. The house is great! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there."

Vacations in Costa Rica Delve into the Past

The history of Costa Rica dates as far back as the pre-Columbian era. The area was inhabited by natives, even when the Spanish settlers found the land in 1650. Though there were small uprisings, the natives of Costa Rica were very welcoming to settlers sharing their lands. Religious uprisings did occur when Monsignor don Esteban Lorenzo de Tristan wanted to erect a parish. Your vacations in Costa Rica will allow you to see this parish along with other churches from the past. A good idea is to plan out your trip to the churches while having breakfast at Alajuela resorts.
