"We rented Casa de Luz y Sombra with another family. We were 4 adults & 4 young children total and all fit very comfortably in this house. The house itself is lovely, clean and comfortable. We had fans in each room and all slept well each night. The house is tucked right into the rainforest, and we were amazed with the location--we even saw two bright green & black poison dart frogs hopping in our yard upon our arrival! We also saw peccaries, lots of Blue Morphos, Opossums and Howler Monkeys from the spacious outdoor porch! We ate together outside on the deck, and it was a nice size--the kitchen had everything we needed to make meals in. The main part of the house is upstairs, but very child-friendly with gated stairways. Playa Chiquita and surrounding stunning beaches are not far away, and the town of Puerto Viejo is about a 5 minute drive away. Great spot! We all had a great time, and hope to come back!"

It is indeed a beachfront Location beyond the jungle :)
"We stayed for 5 nights. The humidity in this area was unexpected even though we are from Houston, TX. It rained every night and every morning during our stay so the humidity never went away. We had difficulty drying our wet towels, clothes and shoes by hanging it outdoors. They dried better indoors with the help of the ceiling fan. There is laundry facilities in the house by hiring the housekeeper to do it. There is also a gardener in the property named Milton and he was very friendly. He does looks intimidating because he carries around a big sharp machete for his work. He was so kind to give us Pipas (young coconuts) to drink and eat which grows in the property. It was refreshing to drink Pipas in this humid environment. Taking a swim at the beach in front of the property was another refreshing thing to do to cool off from the weather. The beach area is very interesting, its practically jungle meets the sea. We swam rain or shine and the beach is just to ourselves. With all the rain pouring comes all the mosquitos so definitely bring bug spray with Deet. The house windows can be closed during the night time to keep mosquitos out and the ceiling fans keep the air in the bedrooms circulating. It gets chilly in the middle of the night that you end up using the flat sheets for cover. We bought mosquito coils at the supermarket to use out on the patios at night so we can hang out and drink cacique (Costa Rican rum) and imperial beer without the mosquito's biting us. We cooked our breakfast in the kitchen every day and use the coffeemaker to brew the local Costa Rican coffee we bought at the supermarket. As for things to do in the area, Gregory (the property manager & who is also the son of the property owner) recommended plenty of things to do. We did chocolate tour with choco art, we booked excursions with Terra Ventura (zipline & river rafting) & we went horse back riding on the beach (we encountered monkeys, howler monkeys, and sloth in the riding trail). We spent a morning in the Manzanillo exploring the Refugio Nacional beach area. Unfortunately, the ocean was turbulent on most days we were there so we could do any water activities other than swimming. This property is tranquil and serene because it is surrounded with trees and lush greenery and a jungle area. You hear the howler monkeys. There was a bird nest in the patio area and we enjoyed watching mama bird feeding the babies. We had a great time! We definitely plan to come back :)"

"Casa Bella was the perfect house for me to settle for six weeks this winter. Casa Bella is located in the wonderful town of Playa Chiquita, offering all you need within walking distance. I rented a bike and headed out most days to explore the many beaches and communities along the coast. It was wonderful to live without needing a car! Living in this lush jungle environment, soaking in salt water, eating local fresh food, daily outdoor living, I have never felt healthier. Erinn and Darren have very high standards of property maintenance and care for their guests with utmost attention. I loved the property, the environment, the amazing and constant flow of wildlife, the adventure opportunities, and the mix of people from all over. My first Canadian Snowbird experience gets five stars!!!!"
