  • Wonderful Property

"My wife and I joined our good friends Joe and Connie for several days at this wonderful farmhouse. The views were outstanding, the setting was in the farm country outside of Todi and was just perfect. The kitchen was first class, the patio was ideal for cocktails and wine after a "hard day" of touring Umbria and Tuscany, the dining room got good use, the bedrooms were nicely appointed and we enjoyed every evening with the windows open and a cool breeze. We had a great time heating the outside stone oven and making pizza from scratch. This is a wonderful home and we plan to visit again."

  • A fairytale come true!

"We were an extended family visiting Spoleto for 5 days. From the moment we made our reservation Michael was extremely helpful and knowledgable about the area. We arrived late in the day on Saturday and were welcomed as friends. The property, home, and views were amazing. Everyday we awoke we thought we were in a dream. We were comfortable, had plenty of room, and enjoyed every moment. We would not hesitate to return! I agree with previous reviews. The steps to the home are steep and would not recommend it for people with difficulty walking. This may be the only drawback for a few people. Regardless, this home is in great proximity to many Umbrian towns, good food, and wonderful adventures, but you can experience the countryside by staying here. La Dolce Vita best describes our stay at fairytale house. We can not wait to return"

  • Would Visit again in a heartbeat.

"My wife and two lady friends spent a week in this lovely home. From our first contact with the manager, Katia, we had all arrangements taken care of with the finest details. The home is comfortable, spacious, nicely decorated, and has amazing views from the top terrace. The kitchen was very well equipped and had everything to prepare a lovely dinner. If you prefer, dining out is just steps away from your front door. The home was warm, welcoming, quiet and charming. If you need ANYTHING for your stay, just call or ask Katia. The WiFi was excellent. I would love to live in this village!!!!"

  • The perfect Umbrian Villa!

"We have recently returned from a gorgeous 16 day stay at Casa del Gelso with our 16 month old daughter. The stay could not be faulted - from the perfect location, gorgeous views & spotless/beautifully equipped villa..we could not be happier! Todi itself is a beautiful town and is situated in an ideal location for exploring Umbria & Tuscany. My parents rented the upstairs apartment which was ideal - whilst all living together we had the privacy of our own places coupled with shared grounds in which to enjoy! I would not hesitate to recommend this villa to my best friend!"

Umbria Travel Tips

The Green Heart of Italy--Umbria

Famous for its wonderful wines and sumptuous olives, Umbria Italy villas are perfect choices for visitors wanting to explore the real Italy. Located next to its more famous neighbor of Tuscany, this landlocked region boasts so many ancient towns and cities that it is impossible to describe each one. The weather ranges from mild winters to warm dry summers.

Getting into the Heart of Italy is Well Worth the Effort

To get to Umbria, fly to Rome and choose either the high-speed railway or rent a car to fully explore this historic area. Airlines such as Al Italia and Delta provide flights from most U.S. international airports to Rome. Another option is to fly to London and then to Perugia in Umbria. The main towns of Umbria include the regional capital, Perugia and Assisi, Citta di Castello, Bastia Umbria, Terni, Gubbio, and Foligno. These towns and many others possess a unique charm and character all its own. You'll find even more unique character in Umbria Italy vacation rentals.

From Buzzing with Life to Peace and Tranquility

Visitors to Umbria Italy vacation rentals will discover a beautiful region--an unspoiled jewel dating from medieval days. With so much on offer, visitors may wonder where to start. A good place may be at Assisi, at the Basilica de San Francesco. This monument to St. Francis is one of Italy’s most famous Renaissance churches. The views over the valley below and mountain backdrop make this a "not to be missed" part of any trip.

In Gubbio, with lovely pink houses with terracotta roofs, visitors discover a determinedly medieval city which prides itself on its history. The regional capital of Perugia is a buzzing town with wonderful restaurants and nightlife. While here, visitors may want to explore Lake Trasimeno for a swim, windsurfing or some sailing.

This region is steeped in history. When planning a sightseeing trip, visitors should consider the Rocca Maggiore castle, the Church of San Pierto, dedicated to Saint Benedict, dating back to the 10th century. The Palazzo dei Priori (Priori Palace) is a medieval palace that is a must-see.

When planning a trip here, allocate some culture time and take in some of the variety of museums. With so many, no matter where your chosen Umbria Italy villa is located, you are bound to find several close by. The National Gallery at Perugia includes several famous masterpieces and the National Archaeological Museum of Umbria is another not to be overlooked. For more up-to-date culture, try the Gallery of Contemporary Art at Spoleto or the Civic Museum at Gubbio to see the famous Eugubine tables, seven bronze plates dating from the 2nd century BC.

Do not be fooled into thinking these beautiful, historic towns and villages have nothing to offer after the darkness falls. Whether it is romantic dining al fresco by candlelight in a medieval square followed by a quiet stroll through ancient streets or dancing the night away, you will find it here. Theater-lovers will enjoy discovering the Communal Theater Todio, the Lyric Theater, Sant Eufemia, or one of the large selection of theaters around the area.

Shop till You Drop near Umbria Italy Accommodations

Two major local products in the region are excellent wine and scrumptious chocolate. For wine, why not buy direct from the Tenuta Poggio el Lupo Winery, near Orvieto? For chocolate-lovers, head to historic Perugia lodging. If you are planning a trip in October, the "Euro-Chocolate" festival will be a chocoholic's dream! For mementos and gifts, explore the many markets. In Spoleto, the monthly market provides great gifts or the Bastia, Piazza Mazzini market sells everything from Italian ceramics to wonderful antique jewelry.

Why Choose an Umbria Italy Villa

The freedom afforded by renting a home rather than being tied to the restrictions of hotels provides travelers the space to relax after a wonderful day of sightseeing, shopping, and exploring the region. These villas come equipped with everything necessary to make a comfortable and home-like environment and the opportunity to live an Italian lifestyle for your vacation. What more could anyone want?
