  • Cabin Rental

"Gorgeous cabin, with lots of great upgrades. The kitchen is wonderful and newly updated, very spacious. Lots of sleeping space and room to move around with a couple of families staying at this cabin. Negatives: water entry is marshy/see weedy on renters side of the pier, poor docking for watercrafts, swimming area on renters side is poor due to "mucky" water. Able to swim on cabin owners side if they are not out but not ideal to time with relaxation if they are out or not. This past summer when we rented for two weeks, had the inconvienance of cabin owners showing this cabin to prospective buyers of the property. This was not at all listed in the renters contract that the cabin would have to be available for showings during our rental time. We were there on vacation and our personal space felt very invaded by having complete strangers walk through the cabin with our stuff in there. Along with being asked to wait outside while the prospective buyers looked at the cabin. One of these times we had company up and it was a cool misty/rainy day. Luckily it wasn't a down pour at the time. The realtor said to us if it started raining we could wait in the garage! Are you kidding me!"

  • Beach Getaway

"We just returned from a weekend staying at this lovely rental. This beach property is right on the beach and photos here do not do it justice. This rental is part of a cluster of rentals (studio, 1 bdm, 2 bdm, 3 bdm, and 4 bdm (which is up on a higher dune)). One of the nights we had a beach camp fire with other rentals of their properties, had great conversations with new friends, and made s'mores for the kids. Also, the sunsets were beautiful. First, the beach. You are right on the beach. You walk down a few steps to the beach - which is private. The beach area in front of house and the surrounding houses is private for the community. It wasn't that crowded and the sand is clean. Second, property amenities. The owners to have 2 kayaks you can use, as well as some chairs and umbrellas. I would bring my own beach chairs and umbrellas - which we did. If you have kids, they do have sand toys to use, but you share with their other rentals. Third, the rental. The rental we stayed in is very bright, clean and airy. There is A/C in case you are there when it is very warm and humid. It sleeps five. They had all the utensils needed to cook. Besides bringing your bathing suits and food for cooking (and paper towel), you are set for the beach life. We woke up in the morning and had coffee on our private sand dune overlooking lake michigan. Since we are early risers the beach was empty except for those getting their morning walks. Because we made some great friends with the other rentals we were able to see the other rentals. Be advised that the rentals are two houses that were divided into rental units. All have their own private entrances and private decks/sitting areas attached to their rental. But unless you want to be friendly you really wouldn't know there were other people on this property. The beach is big and private enough that you don't have to share space. The Dunes. Yes you park up on top of the dunes and do have approx 50 stairs to walk down. The reason for this is that the house is on the beach and there is no way to get to the house except to come down the dune. As much as I dreaded this trip back up, I packed so that I used many handled bags to carry food and such to make is easier to come down in one trip. You are able to walk down to the Indiana Dunes State Park (5 minute walk) and have access to their trails and dunes. We plan on booking a fall weekend at this place for a quick weekend getaway."

  • Location, Location, Location!

"Our large family visited Santa Claus, IN, in July 2014 and what a little gem! We had such a wonderful time at Holiday World, golfing, and sightseeing and we were so happy to have rented such a unique house. Really only minutes from the park and golf - this is the place to stay if you have a large group. We had 4 children and six adults and we all had plenty of room. The pictures are true but don't capture the homey feel - we couldn't have had more fun. We didn't eat out - utilized that outdoor grill and kitchen, but of course, had to visit the Candy Shop for that frozen hot chocolate! The nearby grocery store filled our need for items we weren't able to bring, but it was nice having some stuff in the cabinets and refrigerator that we didn't have to buy. The owner was so helpful and such a delight to work with. The only drawback to the house is - the upstairs bedrooms can be very warm at night - you might want to bring extra fans or portable air conditioners. Thank goodness, we had great cooler weather the week we were there. We would definitely stay here again to visit Holiday World - the cleanest, friendliest waterpark and amusement park in the states! Thanks for a memorable vacation!"

  • Very nice rental house!

"We had a three-family gathering at this nice rental house for 2 nights! The kitchen is very well equipped! There are plenty of plates, bowls, and utensils for our use. We used the outdoor gas grill for all of our meals! There was an extra propane tank for the grill and we never ran out of fuel for our meal preparations. We did not have to dine out at all during our stay! The kids enjoyed the toys, tv, and the porches! Too bad it was 30 degrees during our stay, but we still walked to the beach and the kids had fun playing sand and playing basketball at the basketball court! The four bedrooms are very nice and the three full baths splitted up morning duties pretty well! The house is well insulated and was warm! Trash and recycling was steps away in the backyard and was very easy! The firepit was nice! The house is located in a community of resort properties and we felt safe during our stay! Overall, we all had a great, great time!"
