Recent French Quarter reviews

  • Awesome!

"I very rarely write reviews for anything on the web but I felt compelled after our recent stay. Brent and Bobby have an amazing property! Bobby was the contact for the booking and I spoke to Brent when it got closer to the date of arrival. Brent showed us around the property when we arrived and did a great job of explaining the area and making us feel at home. Prime location as you are only a couple of blocks away from Bourbon Street at this location. We also felt very safe during our stay. Highly highly recommend this property! Perfect place for a bachelor or bachelorette party. I would not recommend to families but I also wouldn’t recommend New Orleans for families (go to Disney instead)."

  • Best accessibility to Frenchman Street and French Quarter sites

"The condo was a great home base for our three night stay. You can't beat the location. It was close to many French Quarter sites and restaurants. But best of all, it was close to Frenchman street which we loved. It's all the things you like about French Quarter in just a couple of streets (e.g. great music and food options). Condo is also easy access to the streetcar that runs along the Mississippi. The goods on the condo: 1. LOCATION (per above) 2. Noise level is low. You will get the occasional late night person coming into the building and will hear hardwood door slamming and feet stomping on hardwood stairs. Plus people whooping outside. Overall, we were able to sleep very well especially since the room gets very dark at night. 3. Nicely decorated. However, I wish we had a rug like in the pictures. It's all hardwood in there and would have been nice for the cold mornings. 4. Bed is comfy yet firm. 5. Kitchen is in a small room so you can close the door if you make any food. We didn't, but it was nice to close the door when the fridge would cycle. Wish these were better: 1. It was cold. This is not the condo's fault but if you visit, you will want to know this. The weather was very cold in New Orleans (upper 30's to low 50's). Luckily there were two heaters to warm up the place. There are at least 12' ceilings so it took a while to warm up. 2. No hand soap. There's a soap pump but no soap. You have to buy your own which I found strange but necessary as the owner was away. 3. Need more hooks in the bathroom. It's small but having a few hooks (next to the shower and on the door) would have been helpful for towels and clothes. The shelving is also not the best but manageable if you put a towel down so your stuff doesn't slip through into the toilet. My recommendations for travelers: 1. Ruby Slipper Cafe - Breakfast (it's in an old bank and 4 blocks away near Frenchman) 2. Horn - Breakfast (2 1/2 blocks away) 3. Walk down Royal street and see amazing antiques and art 4. Walk to Frenchman street (3 blocks away) and listen to amazing jazz and impromptu brass bands 5. Cafe Beignet on Royal - great beignets without the wait in a way quainter atmosphere 6. Praline Connection - Fried Chicken 7. Commander's Palace - Friday lunch (if you have the cash) 8. Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop - Oldest bar in NO with strong drinks. The hurricanes were made with fresh juice! 9. Acme Oyster House - You have to get the chargrilled oysters"

  • Can't go wrong

"My husband and I went with 2 other couples for my 40th birthday. The house was perfect. Clean, classy, comfortable, just far enough away from the noise to sleep. We will definitely be coming back here to stay. And the court yard is breath taking."

  • Quaint, romantic, perfect location, comfortable. Will be "our place" from now on!

"We go to NOLA each year for our anniversary. We usually stay in hotels but thought we were ready to truly experience what it would be like to be. "Local". Searched vrbo and found this little gem. Let me start with the ease of booking this perfect home away. The owners couldn't be more pleasant and accommodating. He had such a pleasant personality when talking with him on the phone. His responses were timely. He suggested places to go, etc. Next let me talk about Regina. This beauty was adorable and helpful from the first text. As soon as we arrived, she was there with her warmth and pretty smile to let us in and give us her instructions. She was so accommodating and full of suggestions. Now onto the unit. It is charming, clean, beautifully updated, perfectly located, tempature was perfect, romantic and on and on. The kitchen is stocked with your necessities. Bring your own spices, oil, etc. We made eggs Benedict with bloody Mary's one morning, omelette the next. We made filet mignon, sautéed shrimp for dinner. Everything I needed was there. Bring some ziplock bags and foil, too, you may need them. The adjacent den has a flat screen tv and comfie couches. Perfect for watching our Alabama football game. The bedroom is quaint and romantic with its very comfortable rod iron bed and brick wall. We didn't realize until we were packing up that there was a tv above the closet. Whoops. The bathroom is perfect size. Jetted garden tub was to die for after walking all day. Shower was very comfortable with its rain shower head. The courtyard is where we spent a ton of time. We ate our meals out there, enjoyed our cocktails and conversations. It is quaint with its brickwork, plants, patio furniture and lights. There is even a stereo in the laundry shed that we plugged our iPod up to and enjoyed playing jazz. We saw another person once for about 10 seconds. Otherwise, it felt like we were the only ones there the entire time. We never heard any noise from anywhere. Not from the bar next door, the street, nothing! Little chinese restaurant on the corner has the most amazing lo mien and sweet and sour chicken I have ever had. Rouses corner market was about 4 blocks away. That is where we picked up our filets. We went to the French Market for the first time and picked up oysters and fresh shrimp for dinner. We parked our car and didn't use it again until we left. Everything is too convenient not to walk. Just perfect"
