  • Peaceful unique house in wonderful location

"We have stayed in this house 3 times now - in spring, summer and fall - and each time has been wonderful. The house has a lot of character and feels loved and lived in, but it is very comfortable with good heating, nice beds and linens etc. It has large dining tables both inside and on the porch, perfect for big long meals. It also has a really well equipped kitchen with a big 5 burner gas cooktop, double electric oven, espresso maker, lots of great pans etc. The porch has a nice view with the garden stepping down. There is a fireplace in the living room, and nice wood floors, and a beautiful grand piano. It is so quiet, you will only see one or two cars pass in the whole day, and barely an airplane in the sky. The air is wonderful, and stars very visible at night as there is no light pollution around. You can walk to Bear Hill which has a fantastic view, in about 20 minutes, and to Cragsmoor library and the beautiful Stone Church. We also hiked in Minnewaska state park, to the waterfall, to Lake Awosting and at Sam's point. Easy to book and the house was open and clean when we arrived, and Kathleen was helpful with information about the area. Definitely would recommend this place!"

  • Love this cozy place!

"I stayed here with 10 of my friends over a 3 day weekend and it was magical. Fighting back to the cold NY weather in front of a fireplace and with a hot tub can't be beaten. The house is also lovely with a ton of personality (record player! piano! books everywhere!), comfortable beds and a living room and dining room big enough to hold all of us. Everyone had a bed; the 4 couples had a full, queen or king and our 2 single friends had twins. Love this place, definitely coming back in summer - great hiking nearby when the weather is good enough."

  • Loved this place!

"We just used this home for our family reunion and can recommend it heartily. It was spacious, clean, comfortable and charming. The cousins never got bored, between taking the paddle boat or canoe out, playing air hockey, billiards, swimming in the pool or playing hide and go seek all over the house. The kitchen is spacious and well stocked. We had J&J Gourmet from Red Hook cater our evening meals...they were helpful, timely, responsive, reasonably priced and the meals were quite delicious and varied. We all agreed that we'd look forward to using them again in the future!"

  • Even better than the pictures

"We rented the house for a long girls weekend. We are a bunch of friends who went to college together over 50 years ago. Four of us stayed at the house and others came over for food and visits. As soon as we arrived at the house, we knew we had really lucked out. Our hostess, Elizabeth, was there to greet us and show us around. She could not have been more gracious. The house is nothing short of spectacular. Everything was spotless and everything worked. The house is incredibly spacious and when there were 20 of us there we still had plenty of extra everything including very comfortable seating. In fact, as beautiful as the living room is, we never used it. The views and sunsets were fantastic -- not to be missed. Elizabeth gets an A+++ in decorating. She has cornered the market on charm and comfort. There were fresh flowers in every room and next to every bed a note pad and pencil -- in other words, she thought of everything. Like the house, the grounds are beautiful. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!"
