Located in the prestigious Ashgrove Country Park, once the pleasure grounds for Ashgrove Hall, you are surrounded by 40 acres of estate parkland with the development being dubbed as ‘the best kept secret in Calderdale’. Split over three levels, the lodge has an open plan living space on the top floor complete with bi-folding doors that can open out onto a small balcony with stunning views. Set between the Calderdale towns of Brighouse and Elland, and just 10 minutes from Halifax, you are surrounded by beautiful West Yorkshire countryside, yet within easy reach of shops, pubs and restaurants. A much sought-after lakeside bar and restaurant is just ½ mile down the road, and uniquely Elland is home to one of Britain’s oldest surviving purpose-built cinemas, as well as a popular and independent microbrewery. Brighouse is a vibrant yet traditional town with ample amenities, a weekly market and a reputation for hosting great festivals. It also has its own train station which provides connections to a variety of West Yorkshire towns and villages, including Hebden Bridge and Halifax, as well as offering direct services to the major tourist attractions of both Manchester and Leeds. Finally, the beautiful cobbled streets of Haworth, once home to the famous Brontë sisters, can be reached in around 30 minutes, and both the Yorkshire Dales and Peak District National Parks in under an hour. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

The place is stunning! Really is amazing! You need to visit yourself as the photos don't do it justice. The owners were lovely, we arrived to a bottle of wine, flowers, chocolate and a candle. Everything was very clean and tidy, I don't have any negative comments. I will be returning for a second stay for sure.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the lodge.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the lodge. We had read some of the previous reviews and all i’d say to anyone who was put off by the lower reviews is that there are a couple of things to be improved on given it is a new lodge but it certainly didn’t stop us having a great stay and I think a lot of it is not picking. There is no central heating - only portable electric heaters in the rooms. I think the owners do need to find a better way of heating the rooms, even just fixed electric heating, as the main issue was that on cold/wet days we couldn’t dry any clothes or towels and you definitely need that when you’re offering a hot tub. We also had two babies and I’d make a recommendation that the owners think about some kind of stair gate, and the electric heaters aren’t very safe to leave on when they’re asleep in the room. The fire in the main room is also within touching distance of babies and it gets very hot with no protection from it so we couldn’t use it. A fire guard would be useful. The door opening outside on our bedroom balcony also did not have a handle to open it. Those are all points just to improve things, we enjoyed it anyway and would definitely go back. The owner was very helpful and we got a complimentary package of food and drinks which was lovely. The kitchen is well appointed and the hot tub and communal area are very well set up to enjoy time with friends and family. The area is also beautiful with lovely walks all around and great restaurants. Thanks to the owner for such an enjoyable weekend!
