A perfect home base for the area. Well stocked kitchen with comfy beds. Gwyneth was willing to help us out if we needed anything. Stunning views from this adorable accommodation. We loved our visit to this area. Thanks Gwyneth!

We had the most amazing stay at the Brown Hen. From the warm welcome from Gwyneth to the location which is rural and very very peaceful to the real home from home feel of the cottage. It was spotlessly clean and so well equipped, we had everything we needed. We spent 5 nights here and we would happily have stayed much longer. If you are in the area, be sure to stay here.

This is a lovely, quaint home outside of Cork. You will need a car if you want to go into Cork and the surrounding areas but parking is not an issue. It has a full kitchen and bathroom supplies. Gwyneth, the host, is very kind and knowledgeable about the area. Highly recommend!

Gwyneth is outstanding! Very nice lady. Very nice cottage. Cows out the back door to greet you in the morning (behind a berm of course). Wonderful country setting. Very tranquil. Conveto Kinsale, Cobh and Cork.

Great property, great location, great hosts

Our family stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed our time. The property is located within a peaceful country scene but is still close to Kinsale and Cork. It was nice having 3 beds plus a bathtub. Our hosts lived next door and were very friendly. Would recommend highly!

A wonderful, peaceful cottage

We had a wonderful three days at the Brown Hen cottage. It is a lovely location adjacent to the host's working farm. The cottage is well appointed and we felt very relaxed while there. Gwyneth could not have been a more gracious and helpful host. You'll love staying here!

The brown hen is locatedin a beautiful country setting, literally on a farm. The property was spotless and well equipped, and the hostess, Gwyneth, was warm and helpful. We absolutely hit the jackpot, selecting the Brown Hen.

Wonderful accommodation and location

Accommodation for 4 adults was very comfortable. Easy check in and owner was very responsive to any questions or inquiries we had as well as offering good suggestions on restaurants in the area. Easy driving distance to Bandon, Cork, Kinsale, Cobh and Blarney Castle. Very quiet countryside location and easy parking. We all enjoyed the amenities in the kitchen and comfortable seating areas, thank you for a great experience.

Perfect getaway!

We really enjoyed our three night stay at the Brown Hen. Gwyneth is very quick to respond to communication and is a seasoned host! Linens were crisp and clean, beds were comfy for all of us and lots of space to hang out and settle in. The area around the property is beautiful, close enough to larger cities but out of the way so it feels like a real country experience. We felt very safe here. Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful place to stay

A wonderful place with brilliant views, surrounded by ample countryside. Gwyneth was the best host one could ask for, very friendly and helpful throughout my stay and indeed for both settling in and heading out. The place was lovely to stay in, featuring every utility you could desire, and felt very welcoming and comfortable as almost a home away from home. My only wish is that I could have stayed longer! For any undecided, The Brown Hen is definitely worth a stay.

Superb

Enjoyed our stay very much. Gwyneth is a lovely lady and very helpful. Location is peaceful and very quiet. Property very comfortable and clean, the washing machine was faulty but Gwyneth offered to do any laundry for us which was very kind of her. Definitely need transport as it is quite remote, but that adds to the ambience of the surroundings

Séjour parfait à proximité de Cork!

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour du côté de Bandon à proximité de Cork et autres perles du comté : châteaux, jardins, ports,… L’emplacement est idéal : très belle vue sur la campagne vallonnée irlandaise et très calme. Le cottage est parfait : décoration soignée et propreté/confort impeccables. Un grand merci enfin à Gwyneth pour l’accueil chaleureux! Nous reviendrons sans hésiter si l’occasion se présente.

Beautiful, cozy spot

The cottage was the perfect spot for us to explore the Irish countryside and coast. It had all the amenities we needed and more. Gwyneth was a fabulous hostess and checked in to be sure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend the Brown Hen if you are visiting Cork County!

Perfect for us

Warm welcome from Gwyneth upon our arrival. The location and cabin were perfect for our needs and was warm and comfortable when we returned after a day out. Gwyneth and Merv were great hosts and nothing was too much trouble. We really enjoyed our stay.

A Nest of Peace and True Quiet

The Brown Hen was the highlight of our Ireland visit. The house is charming and fully equipped, well-suited to our party of 2. Gwyneth made us feel welcome and guided us to sightseeing we would have overlooked - Beara Peninsula and Mizen Head were highlights! The location is perfect for exploring southwest Ireland and was a haven after each day's drive. The Brown Hen has a relaxing sense of isolation while the town and its services are a short drive away. The accommodation is lovely but it is Gwyneth's attention to detail and her care for her guests that makes it special.

Fun on the Farm!

We are so happy we stayed here! We took several trips to nearby places and discovered things we wouldn’t have had we stayed in the city. Gwyneth is a gracious hostess, and we loved the fresh bread and eggs! And the cows provided a little bit of entertainment for us too.
