Sobre esta propriedade
Spacious family home with garden in Haarlem: close to Amsterdam, beach & park.
The beautiful and majestic double fronted house in original state with red bricks and stained glass windows is perfectly located in the southern part of Haarlem in a beautiful neighborhood with characterful town villas and lots of greenery.
The house provides high speed 200 Mbps WIFI internet all throughout the house.
Our house was fully renovated to top standard 3 years ago with the purpose to leave all original details in a place and combine it with a modern clean look, that makes it a perfect home for a busy family with 2 young daughters and our 2 lovely cats.
Upon entering the house you will find yourself standing in a spacious entrance hall with an open staircase where you can see the top of the house, 2 floors up. Our lovely designer lamps (called Romeo and Julia) are a sure highlight in the house, matching the colors of the stained glass windows on the first floor.
Also in the entrance hall is a toilet with sink. Enter through the bottom to ceiling glass and black steel by on your left and you are standing in front of our spacious Bulthaup custom made kitchen, complete with 2 dishwashers, tall fridge, freezer, oven and microwave, an induction 4-pit cooker with an inbuilt Bora extractor fan, and 4 very comfy bar style chairs where we usually eat our breakfast.
The original sliding doors lead from the kitchen to the dining room, where there is room for at least 6 adults and 2 children (Tripp traps chairs). From the dining room you can open the doors into the garden which is fully equipped with an outside dining table and 6 chairs as well as a cozy corner with sofas to chill on hot summer days. For the kids there is a big trampoline and a treehouse complete with slide and swing and for the smallest there is a covered sand pit, a playhouse and a small slide. In the shed are more toys such as tennis rackets, scooters, crayons or little bikes for the kids.
From the dining room is a direct connection to the other side of the house which is a play room for the children with table and 4 chairs and lots of toys and board games. This playroom is separated from the living room by a wall of glass and black steel doors. The large living area is the heart of the house with an XL sofa (4 - 5 seater) and a chaise lunge for 2 to enjoy the fire place or a good movie on our 59-inch Sony TV. Netflix and Amazon Prime (Germany) is included.
From the living room leads another last glass and steel through back into the hallway. One flight of stairs and another 3 steps further you will be on the first floor, where the large master bedroom including dressing room, a newly built bathroom with double sink and walk in shower and a spacious children's bedroom is located.
The Master bedroom comes with a bed of 180x200m and a very comfy mattress (medium hard). One wall of the bedroom is decorated with the cherry blossom wallpaper famous from the Van Gogh painting. The bedroom has a very calming feel to it due to the color theme of beige, gray and white. The bedroom measures about 40 m2 with at the far end a spacious dressing room with full length mirror and sitting area. From the large window cove you have an amazing view towards the pond and the trees on the opposite side of our house.
The bathroom was completely newly built 3 years ago with a double sink, a toilet and a walk in shower (well pressured).
Next to the bathroom is a children's bedroom, with a cot bed or 140x70cm and a changing table, plenty of toys catered for the ages or 0-3 and 2 large windows looking over the garden (the windows come with blackout blinds and beautiful velvet curtains ). Here could be space for a double mattress depending on the amount of expected guests, this can be arranged if agreed before booking.
Another set of stairs and 3 steps up you are on the second floor where there is a second double bedroom with white wooden floors and colorful cushions and plaids give the room a very fresh holiday feel. The room has a double bed or 160x200 cm and a sitting area. There is a Velux window (with blackout blind) and a small window on the front of the room with curtains (not black out).
There is also a sofa that can be turned into a bed (120x190) in the room, quite hard to be honest though.
Next to this bedroom is the family bathroom, with shower, 2 sinks, a toilet and a bathtub. This room is a little bit different from the rest of the house in terms of style, we decided not to refurbish it even though it was not our style, but everything is in perfect working order and very clean and it reminds us how beautiful the rest of the house has become.
Next to the bathroom is the laundry room, 2 washing machines (Miele and Samsung) and a dryer (Bosch) and 2 drying racks (to hang up clothes that can't go in the dryer) which are at your disposal.
Next to the laundry room is the second children's bedroom, which again covers the whole depth of the house. There is a stylish white wooden bunk bed, 2 walk in closets, a velux window (with blackout blinds) and a big set of windows (with blackout blinds and velvet curtains). There is also a drum set (please don't play at night; o) and a lot of toys interesting for girls between 5 and 10 I would say. There are children books in Dutch, English and German.
The house was originally built in 1900 and only had 2 previous owners before we bought it. This means there are a lot of original details left - special custom made stained glass windows with the family arms of the first owner and the architect, the open staircase, a faucet and sink surrounded by the typical dutch white and blue tiles hand made a century ago to name but a few.
Our house is located adjacent to a little pond with ducks and some beautiful trees. Behind the house is the entrance to a big park (The Wood) where you can find a little petting farm (complete with free roaming goats and sheep, horses, alpacas and many other animals as well as a newly built playground. For a little break there is Tea House from which you can watch the deer roam freely in the deer park.
And 1 min away to the left is a little minigolf park where young and old can try their skills / luck.
After a 3 min walk to the east you can reach the river Spaarne and get on a little ferry that runs free of charge all day to the other side of the river from which you can walk 5 mins to an old windmill that has a little museum inside.
If you fancy a bit of shopping, Haarlem town center has been repeatedly voted as the best shopping town of the Netherlands, due to its charming cobbled streets around the old market squares with lots of funky clothes shops. Also the foodies under you will have nothing to worry about, Haarlem has hundreds of restaurants and bars, lots of cafes around market squares where you can sit and sip a cold Heineken or a warming fresh mint tea and watch the world go by. Also along the river Spaarne are plenty of cafes to watch the boats sail by. Why not hop on a river cruise - without the queues and manic rush of Amsterdam - this will be very much a tourist highlight of your trip. Also there are plenty of museums in Haarlem such as the oldest museum of the Netherlands: Teylers’s museum and Frans Hals museum worth your time. If you visit in the months between march and may, a trip to the world famous Keukenhof is a must, with millions of tulips and other flowers in full bloom. In 20 mins you can reach Amsterdam either by train from Haarlem central station or by car but be aware - parking is very expensive in Amsterdam. Amsterdam’s international airport Schiphol is also 20 minutes by taxi (or a bit longer and cheaper by bus).
15 mins by car in the other direction you will reach Zandvoort or Bloemendaal aan Zee with its long wide sandy beaches and its many beach restaurants, some of them specially catered to kids with playgrounds in the sand, some very trendy with wooden sun beds and chilled music, the Ibiza of the north sea…
From 2020 the famous Formula 1 will return to Zandvoort after 35 years, so make sure you book your trip early if you want a place to stay.
The house provides high speed 200 Mbps WIFI internet all throughout the house.
