Artisan-crafted Magic on Lake Superior

WoodSong is nestled along the bank of Lake Superior`s rugged coastline at the end of Cascade Beach Road and the edge of Cascade River State Park. Completely rebuilt, this artisan-crafted cabin was spared no expense in its attention to detail. From the overall design to the hand-forged forged ironwork, painstaking care was given to every square inch. The result is something more akin to a crafted wood sculpture than a mere dwelling.

A spacious main room is built around the granite-faced wood-burning fireplace with French doors that open directly out to the Big Lake. Each of its 2 bedrooms has its own, private spa-like bath, complete with deep soaking tub. This cabin can comfortably sleep 4 adults.

Outside, the charm is in full force … Not only is WoodSong`s patio a stone`s throw from Lake Superior`s lapping waves, but it also has a lake-side covered porch. Repurposed from an original, historic North Shore fish house — one of the few that remain standing from that bygone era — time with coffee, wine, and friends is about as close to North Shore ecstasy as it gets! As idyllic as WoodSong is, the cabin itself is only the beginning …

WoodSong is situated in the heart of the most legendary and spectacular section of the entire North Shore. Hundreds of miles of Sawtooth Mountains trails (hiking in the summer, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter) are accessible right out the front door of the cabin. Cascade Lodge Restaurant & Pub is an easy 1/2-mile walk and features great food, drinks, and frequent live music. A trail leading to Cascade Falls is only 1 mile from WoodSong`s door. And within a 30-minute drive, everything the North Shore is known for is accessible: world-class hiking, fishing, kayaking, biking trails, skiing, galleries, restaurants, NorthHouse Folk School, and a vibrant live music scene. After all, WoodSong sits in the heart of Cook County and Grand Marais, which was named by Travel & Leisure magazine as `America`s Best Small Lake Town` in 2023!

NorthLight Lodging is a family-operated, boutique hospitality operation consisting of several guest cabins along Lake Superior’s North Shore in northern Minnesota. Ranging in size from 1 to 4+ bedrooms — and all sitting along the easternmost stretch of coveted Cascade Beach Road — NorthLight`s properties are located halfway between the grandeur and skiing of the Lutsen Mountains and the charming harbor town of Grand Marais. Each cabin is nestled right along the lakeshore and has been curated with painstaking attention to detail. Our goal in designing, crafting, and appointing our cabins is to embody all the subtle enchantment of the North Shore region we so love. We aspire to offer incomparably welcoming spaces — cared for with meticulous attention to detail — that foster inspiration, connection, and wonder for all who visit.

WoodSong is uniquely perched on one of the most stunning stretches along the North Shore! It has captured our imaginations since the first time we stumbled upon it — and still does today!

WoodSong is located on Cascade Beach Road, a quiet, lightly traveled eight-mile gravel road that usually sees more walkers and cyclists than it does cars. There is no parking on Cascade Beach Road, but the private drive offers plenty of parking for guests.

OTHER CABINS NEARBY FOR RENT: We have four other properties, Cedarwood Hollow (airbnb.com/h/cedarwoodhollow), Painted Rock (airbnb.com/h/paintedrock), SweetWater Cottage (airbnb.com/h/sweetwatercottage), and Tarnmoor (airbnb.com/h/tarnmoor) located nearby that can be combined to allow multiple families or friend groups to stay close in close proximity.
DEPARTURE:
Premises must be vacated on or before the Reservation Period ends. Guest acknowledges that if Premises has not been vacated on or before Check-Out, a $500 fee will be assessed and an additional $100/hour will be charged for each hour occupied after Reservation Period ends. Please respect our need to prepare for the next Guest by ensuring an on-time departure.

EARLY CHECK-IN OR LATE CHECKOUT:
When available, the Reservation Period can be extended for an additional fee of $50 per hour. This option must be arranged in advance in writing. Guest should inquire if interested and Brushpoint will do its best to accommodate the request if possible.
