Relaxing stay
A lovely relaxing stay in this delightful cottage ..the hot tub with stunning views is a bonus . I would love to visit again.
We had a week at Springfield Linny
The views and the cottage we’re superb
very quiet and peaceful
(Except for the cows mooing at the crack of dawn)
Everything was as described
the owner was very quick to respond and sort out any problems
Unfortunately as we were there in June we had a problem with flies invading the cottage and couldn’t open the doors or windows which was a shame

Great family holiday
We had a great stay at Spingfield Linney. Weather was mixed so we spent a few evenings at the house and the kids loved the hot tub. The views are incredible and so amazing to wake up to every morning.
Perfect size for the 4 of us and was a great location for Braunton and Saunton Sands.
We had a great week at Springfield Linney. The weather was stunning, the accommodation clean & modern, with everything finished to a high standard, an air fryer was an added bonus. The main patio is a real sun trap all day, in the evening the hot tub & back patio are perfect for unwinding & watching the sunset. The garden space was great for our dog, there were cows in the adjacent field just for the final evening but otherwise livestock was far enough away to be unobtrusive. Barnstaple is close by for shopping & Saunton Sands was a great day out. The owner Richard was friendly without intruding, would definitely recommend.

Lovely property
Great location, close to Barnstaple but also rural. Easy access to the beaches. Amazing views. Well equipped. We stayed in March and our weather was pretty wet so couldn’t use the outside facilities which would be fabulous on a summer’s day.

A haven with a view
We absolutley loved our family weekend break at this property. We has a friendly welcome on site and shown how to use the hottub. The property was very clean and we had a small welcome package, which was appreciated. The property pretty much has everything we needed (salt, pepper, hadnwash, dishsoap, laund/dish tabs, towels, firewood. A well needed peaceful break with the kids, we even used the BBQ. Sunsets in the hottub was a hightlight of our break. Hopefuly will return next year!

Well converted farm building
A well converted farm building. Big beds, very comfortable. Could do with storage space for empty cases during the holiday. Prompt response to hot water problems.

Very relaxing
Beautiful quiet spot and handy for the great beaches in the area. Lovely holiday home for four people. Great living space, well equipped kitchen and comfy beds.
Some internal and external steps so need to be able to negotiate these. Helpful hosts who did not intrude and large enclosed gardens and walks from the door if you are bringing a dog. Plenty of places to eat nearby and a large Tesco about four miles away.
Peaceful location with beautiful views from the patio across the estuary and out to sea. Comfortable beds, great living space, well equipped kitchen and two bathrooms. Perfect.
Lovely pub at Muddiford. Less than two miles pleasant walk along the lanes or a short drive. Richard the owner was very helpful and walks from the door for our dog as well as a large enclosed garden. Thank you

Stunning views, beautiful cottage! We will be back!
We had a wonderful stay at Springfield Linney. The views were spectacular. The cottage was very comfortable (two super king beds, one which can be two singles), modern, thoughtfully renovated and well equipped (including travel cot and high chair). We loved the hot tub with sea views! The hosts were very friendly and helpful. There was a lovely garden for enjoying a cup of tea or glass of wine. A great place for two couples (with two bathrooms) or a couple and one or two children. Only 15-20 minutes by car from Saunton Sands and lots of other wonderful beaches and activities. We would love to come back soon. Thank you!

Fabulous!
Springfield Linney is in immaculate condition and is well fitted with all the gadgets one could require, including an air fryer. It is situated in a quiet corner of Devon but within a few minutes' drive of the large town of Barnstaple. At the end of a short cul-de-sac lane, itself off a very quiet country lane, it has views across the countryside and, distantly, to the sea. Animals in the fields around and just peace - a wonderful place to sit in the hot tub and contemplate life. We found several walks off from the cottage, and the hedges were just coming into life, with primroses, violets, and a few early bluebells, the background sound of early lambs bleating made for a perfect country walk. Highly recommended.

Disappointed
Property needed thorough clean. Not value for money. Very over-looked by neighbouring property. So over-looked, had to keep blinds down all the time. Some windows had no blinds at all. Windows very dirty inside and out. Cobwebs everywhere.
Response from VrboOwner on 22 Jul, 2024
We are very sorry that you were disappointed by your stay at Springfield Linney, this as you will see from our previous reviews is one our most popular and well loved, so we were surprised to see your comments. The cottage does have a neighbour, however, the owners have made sure this does not impact guests staying at Springfield Linney, especially as it is not to the side of the cottage that enjoys the views or where the hot tub is located; there is also a high fence and driveway between the properties, which can be seen in the images. In regards to the cleaning, we wish you had let the owners or ourselves know earlier so we could have investigated, especially as you spoke to the owners mid-way through your stay to discuss some of the outdoor furniture, which was replaced the very next day.

Lovely cottage in a rural location in Devon
This cottage provided us with a lovely stay for a week’s break. It is comfortable and well equipped. Comfy beds, lovely hot tub, fab walks in the area and a well equipped kitchen. Fantastic view from the hot tub, out over the estuary. A thoughtful selection of goodies were left by the owners which was a lovely touch.
A couple of minor niggles only: The curtains in the bedrooms did not block all the light, however this did not bother us in winter. Also one of the bedrooms has a moderately loud noise from a water tank and pump housed in the loft space adjacent to the room which is disturbing if someone else runs water or you leave the dishwasher on in the night. Had trouble getting in to the property as the lock seems to have an issue with it, but host was responsive to help us immediately.
All in all a great stay and would return.

Lovely cottage with superb views
Had a wonderful week’s stay at this lovely converted barn with superb views across to the sea. We stayed over the Christmas week and the weather was dreadful but the cottage was cosy and very comfortable. It doesn’t mention this in the details, but there is a cafetière and an air fryer. It would be more helpful if there were a few more clothes and trouser hangers in the bedrooms and a second tea towel. Also, some extra food waste bags as only one supplied. Apart from that, everything was great! Regarding the hot tub, the winds were so strong that the lid blew off a couple of times and we managed to secure it with a strap that we found in the garden. We did manage to use the hot tub on one day and it was a real treat.

Modern barn conversion with hot tub and breathtaking views
Springfield Linney is a modern barn conversion on a hill above Barnstaple in beautiful Devon with the most wonderful views. The house has been built a few years ago and everything is in good condition and clean. The hot tub (jacuzzi) outside is a definite plus.
Two bedrooms with decent beds and room for some hangers, but not a lot of storage. One bathroom with bath, another with shower. good hot temperature and excellent water pressure.
Parking next to the entry of the house, with about 5 steps down.
Spingfiled Linney have decent privacy but there is another house adjacent to the holiday home on one side. The other side, with the hot tub and magnificent views, is completely private.
The kitchen has all the basic equipment, including a washing machine. We received a basket with cider and the best apple juice we ever tasted. However, a bit more pratical things such as a kitchen towel, sugar, spices and oil would have been appreciated.
Did we mention the spectacular views yet?
