Sylvie in the Silent Stones ancient mansion from the 1300s
In the medieval village of Nerola, just 40 km from Rome, stands an ancient 14th-century residence that has been tastefully restored to bring to light the beauty of the architecture of that era in the Roman Sabina region. If you’re looking for a place to stay immersed in tranquility while still enjoying the conveniences of the city center, “Le pietre silenti”—a place where the old and the new come together in harmony—is the ideal location for your stay, where you can relax and rediscover the joy of life’s simple pleasures.

“Silvye” Apartment
: This apartment in the town’s historic center is located across from Orsini Castle, with a private entrance. After descending a few steps, you’ll be welcomed by an outdoor courtyard with a covered patio—perfect for a relaxing breakfast. The old walls keep it quiet and cool in the summer. In winter, however, natural gas heating with radiators makes it cozy and comfortable. The apartment features a bedroom with a French-style four-poster bed, a small relaxation area, and a small pantry with a refrigerator and a spot for coffee or tea, as well as a large, spacious bathroom. The apartment’s window overlooks the valley with a panoramic view.
Guest access
Access to the apartment is on foot, down a few steps. You can reach it by car, and with a little luck, park right in front of the entrance. The town is small and very compact; shops and services are all within easy reach—from the grocery store to the bakery with traditional pastries, a café, a pizzeria, a traditional trattoria, a tobacco shop, and an ATM. The medieval village of Nerola is built around the Orsini Castle and is entirely accessible on foot; in just a short time, you’ll come across old wine cellars, painting studios, and small bric-a-brac artisans. In the surrounding area, there are mountain trails for short but invigorating walks in the open air, where you can discover old fountains and farmhouses and purchase locally sourced products such as cheeses, tomatoes, and the fabulous extra virgin olive oil from Sabina.
Other things to keep in mind
“Pietre silenti” is located in Nerola (Rome).
