About Carrie Kozubal

We are Sonoma County locals who love to celebrate living in one of the most spectacular places on the planet with our three young children. Though we are not able to spend nearly as much time at the coast as we would like to, we are happy to share this little piece of paradise with our guests.

Carrie Kozubal purchased this cottage in 2003

Why Carrie Kozubal chose Sonoma County

We both love being near the ocean, and knew that we would live at the coast 'someday.' We were not in the market for a house, much less a vacation home, when Carrie visited this home with a friend and fell in love with it. When we found out a short time later that it would be available to purchase, we jumped at the opportunity. We were just in the right place at the right time.

What makes this cottage unique

The most special part of The Haven to us is the spirit/mojo/vibe of the place. The home was designed and built by an architect who had owned this land for many years before building the house as his own retreat, so it was built with an incredible awareness of/sensitivity to the surroundings. It is private, intimate, relaxing, and invigorating.

We love sitting in the hot-tub at night (especially in the rain), and listening to the waves crashing and the stream rushing by. We love having breakfast in the morning and wine and cheese in the afternoon with the hummingbirds.

We love that this is a place that our dogs and kids enjoy as much as we do!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Blessings to you and to this beautiful space. Today is my birthday and I am so grateful for this sanctuary to realign myself in divine rebirth. This is truly a magical spot on the planet. I was happy to see QuanYin here--infinate mother of compassion--and the hummingbirds--eternal messangers of true love and joy--they are my constant companions of comfort. Thank you for the warm water and fresh air. You hold a sacred place here.

Perfect place to relax and unwind

  • 5 of 5

Our weekend stay at the Haven was wonderful and relaxing. The front deck is an amazing place to sit and read, watch the squirrels play in the trees and listen to the creek run down below. The house is perfect for two and the owners have thoughtfully provided just about everything you will need. We would love to stay here again sometime.

Nice, quiet, scenic, romantic

  • 4 of 5

Great place for couples to get away for a quiet, romantic experience in a beautiful setting. The place is well-equipped and comfortable. No internet so it's a good opportunity to practice being present and in the moment.

Birthday R/R

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful view from the wrap around deck, where below you find the privacy spot for the hot tub. The cabin itself was very cozy with the fireplace and private setting. We had a wonderful time, would stay there again.

Thanks,

Randy and Cindy

Great stay at the Haven at Jenner!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I along with our two labs loved our time there. It was a great spot to tour the wine country as well as the coast. The location was beautiful and the house very cozy! The perfect get away. We would definitely stay there again.

Rustic Getaway for 2

  • 5 of 5

This rustic and simple cabin is great for a couple wanting to get away from it all. We enjoyed the location being close to the ocean, with a peek out to the water, and to other destinations. Our dog felt right at home by the fireplace or out on the deck. It is nicely decorated and the kitchen is equipped for the casual cook wanting to make occasional meals. The porch was inviting and a great place to watch the birds and relax with coffee and a book.

A few things I would consider if you rent this nest in the woods........I know it says a small child can sleep in the loft, but it is a steep climb up the stairs, we didn't have children with us but I can't imagine a small child coming up and down there safely. Just my thoughts. Also, know that this is a snug fit....My husband and I had to walk sideways to get into bed and there are some tight quarters in the bathroom.......lastly, the steps outside the home are something to contend with....it was raining during our trip part of the time and I was a bit nervous using the rock steps with minimal lighting in the backyard, and I consider myself fairly athletic and steady...and my husband actually fell off the front step in the rain because it was slippery. If I were an older couple or someone not very coordinated or surefooted, this would make me leary. I'm a nurse, so perhaps I'm a bit paranoid...but I think its worth noting as its not in the photos. These are not criticisms per say, just things I would have liked to have known and hope might help someone else.

This is a cute spot for folks looking for a simple place in a great location.
