Very Disappointed!!!
Not what we expected from VRBO. After the money was taken out of our account, we heard nothing. We arrived in Lucca at what we thought was the entrance, rang the bell, but no response. Eventually texted a contact who sent us a picture and a code for the lock box. It took time to arrive and after another what’s app call to host, we eventually got in through the front door, expecting that to be the entrance hall, but no it was the apartment. First thing we noticed was a musty smell and then we looked for the air conditioning, which now we know there was none. The small tower fan in the corner did not work. Looking round the apartment, there were gaps in the door so you could see the road outside, there was mould around the shower tray and when the toilet was flushed, there was some blowback in the shower tray. There was lots of small insects in the toilet bowl and they couldn’t be shifted by flushing. At this point we decided that this was not the place for us and began a search for a hotel. Fortunately we managed that and immediately moved out. Once settled I rang the host to tell her we would not be staying and I would put the key back in the box. She apologised and was sad that we weren’t staying. Sadly the photos on your website, DO IT JUSTICE, but after travelling for a long time, survived high temperatures and arriving in what we perceived to be unsuitable accommodation for our needs, this is not what we expected from a company like VRBO, who we have used in the past.
