it has a huge living room with large windows on two sides, two velvet sofas, lots of cozy lighting and a large TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime.

The main bedroom has a king-size brass bed, a wicker chair and lots of cupboard space.
The second bedroom has twin single beds with velvet headboards that can also be set up as a king-size bed, making it perfect for children, singles, or a couple.
The spacious full bathroom has a large free-standing bathtub and a huge stand-in shower with a luxurious rainfall shower head.
Book today to enjoy this spirited seaside neighborhood just steps away from the gorgeous Eastern Esplanade. Here, you can enjoy breathtaking ocean views, leisurely strolls to clear your mind after work, sampling some fresh seafood, or reading a good book over a beverage at a quirky beachside cafe.
Guest Access:
You’ll have exclusive access to the entire apartment. Guest access is via the shared front door and up a large internal staircase two floors. There is also a small lift, but the flat is not really suitable for anyone with access issues.
The Neighborhood:
Located just above Walpole Bay, this lovely flat has stunning coastal views from every room. Walpole Bay is famous for its sandy beach and fabulous tidal pool, with wild swimming year-round if you are brave enough. The kids absolutely love it in the summertime when the pool comes alive with paddle boarding, blow-up floats and crabbing.
The iconic Walpole Bay Hotel is over the road, perfect for a traditional cream tea on their colourful veranda.
It is just 5 minutes up the road to Northdown Road, boasting many unique small businesses for which Cliftonville is famed. Tescos is at the end of the road, so shopping is super easy.
It is 5 minutes along the coast to the Tom Thumb Theatre, the Albion Rooms and the Oval Bandstand.
Brilliantly positioned for walkers who want to explore the Viking Coastal Trail.
Getting Around:
The nearest major international airport is London Gatwick (LGW). From Gatwick Airport, you can travel to Margate by train, bus, or car. The journey by car or train typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic and the specific route taken. It is easy to take a cab from the station to Walpole Bay Views.
Most places are within an easy stroll, or the Thanet Loop bus will take you further afield.
There is a bus stop on Northdown Road, a 5-minute walk up the road.
Other Things to Note:
Please review this information before booking to ensure a pleasant stay. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Guest access is via the shared front door and up a large internal staircase that you’ll take up two floors. There is also a small lift, but the flat is not really suitable for anyone with mobility issues.
Please, note that there is currently temporary scaffolding erected near our front door and around parts of our building, impacting the view. It also means there could potentially be workmen outside the windows during the daytime until further notice.
This flat is in a residential block and therefore not suitable for noisy groups. It's best for families or respectful adults who want to wild swim and/or walk the coast. It's brilliantly placed to walk into Margate Old Town to enjoy art galleries, vintage shopping and good meals.
There can be absolutely no late-night noisy drunken returns, and no parties, events, or illegal activities are permitted. No excessive noise after 9 pm. Please only book if you plan to be respectful of our neighbours.
We provide luxury liquid soaps, bath gels, shampoos, conditioners and toilet paper in all bathrooms to get you started. These items are not replenished during your stay. If you need anything else, you’ll have to purchase it. As for the luxury toiletries in the pump dispensers, we ask that you please leave what you don't use for the next guests.
The two single beds can be arranged as a king-size bed if you prefer. They are arranged as singles by default so please let us know if you would like kings well in advance. We do not have a cot at this property but you are welcome to bring your own. There is plenty of space to put it up in the main bedroom.
House Rules:
- You must be at least 25 years of age or older to book.
- Guests will be asked to sign a Rental Agreement upon booking confirmation.
- Guests might be required to present an official ID at check-in or during the stay.

- Guests agree to cover any charge related to damages that occurred during their stay or extra-cleaning charges if needed after their stay.

Alojamento gerido por Amelia Gregory

I’m a single mum, creative, and lover of trees! I moved from Brick Lane, London to Margate 3 years ago , where I live in a flat overlooking Walpole Bay with my two small children.
I bought Ballarat House to renovate as a holiday home to provide an income for my family, and to support my creative and community endeavours. It has taken two years to bring this beautiful derelict property back to life, and has been the one of the hardest but most rewarding things I’ve ever done.
Every single aspect of the renovation has been lovingly considered and designed to create a unique and vibrant space so that groups of friends and families can enjoy a brilliant holiday in our quirky seaside town.
I trained as a printed textile designer, and designed all the patterned curtains inside the house, inspired by local wildlife on the beaches and in our fields and hedges.
Prior to my move I created the arts publication Amelia’s Magazine and a series of illustration books. Over the past two years I have cofounded two local community groups; Thanet Trees to protect, plant and promote trees in Thanet, and Friends of Cliftonville Coastline, to protect the heritage of our coastline for our community and visitors such as yourselves. Look out for our newly planted flowerbeds when you walk along the coast!
I love taking photos, getting outside, camping, being with my kids, making things, cooking, writing, gardening, being a community activist, discovering new creatives and sharing my finds with others via Amelia’s Magazine (soon to be relaunched) and on social media.
Having spent two years planning and creating my holiday home, I am really excited to finally open the doors of Ballarat House to guests. I live close by and whilst I cannot welcome you in person (being a single mum somewhat limits my availability) I am available at any time to answer your queries and help make your guest experience the best it can be.
