Tuusula is 20 min. away by train from Helsinki and 18 km from the airport. Tuusula is well known about the outside activities and cultural attractions that it has to offer. It has beautiful restaurants by the lake Gustavelund, Krapihovi, a summertheater, a golf course etc. Also good shopping opportunities are quite near (see the links at the end).

The natural beauty of Lake Tuusula attracted many masters of art, music and literature, and it is this, which makes the area one of a kind in Finland. The golden age of Finnish art is brought to life at home museums, which take the visitor back to the heyday of the Finnish National Romantic era at the turn of the 20th century. In addition to historical cultural sights, events and exhibitions, the area offers museums for those interested in military history.


The homes of the artists who lived here take you back to the heyday of the Finnish National Romantic era at the turn of the 20th century. It has also been home to many famous Finns; Jean Sibelius, Juhani Aho and Venny Soldan-Brofeldt, J.H. Erkko, Eino Leino, Eero Järnefelt, Pekka Halonen and the Sibelius Academy’s Kallio-Kuninkala College.


The lake and its surrounding area offer great experiences for both summer and winter activities. In summertime there is a Visit Lake Tuusula -buss going around the attractions. Also cycling around Lake Tuusula is a very popular activity. Beautiful scenery, historical sights and safe cycle paths attract both locals and visitors alike to cycle this circular 26 km / 16 mile route. In addition, the lake is ideal for swimming, fishing and rowing, paddling, sailing, ice-skating, ice fishing (we can borrow you some equipment) and skiing. You can also find walking paths in the forests nearby or you can go to see the beautiful Finnish lake scenery from the campfire place high at the Sarvikallio.
We can advise where you can rent bikes, boats, canoes, SUP boards etc.


There are several nature reserve areas and national parks within 30 km from the house. The nearest paths are only 1-2 km away. You can also use public transportation to reach a couple of these places.


The nearest crosscountryski area is 1 km away and the nearest downhillskiing (slalom, snowboarding) area is 8 km away.


Tuusula Golfclub is only a few hundred meters from our house if you wish to spend a day at the greens.

There are also nice restaurants by the lake like Gustavelund and Krapihovi and a summer theatre.


The cities of Kerava and Järvenpää with own popular attractions are just beside Tuusula and you can easily reach them by buss.


The huge shopping mall Jumbo in Vantaa (14 km) is reachable by bus in 30-40 minutes and by car in 15-20 minutes from the house. It is offering a great variety of shops and restaurants and an amazing waterpark and a quiet spa Flamingo.


The brand new Helsinki Outlet is the only Outlet Village in the Greater Helsinki area. Here you can find top fashion, outdoor and lifestyle brands at 30-70% off the recommended retail price. This is located 19 km from the house.


The Finnish science center, an attractions for kids and adults, Heureka is 5 minutes train ride away in Vantaa.


Helsinki with all its attractions and activities is reachable in 20 minutes by train or car and you can easily return to the house by train even late in the evening.
