Skansen offers proximity to all of the city's attractions, restaurants, bars, and vibrant city life. At the same time, you experience the street and the area as secluded and calm. A short 300-meter walk is all it takes to enjoy peace and romance in beautiful surroundings. The street's character is defined by classic Bergen wooden house architecture and beautiful buildings. In addition to finding bus stops and grocery stores nearby, you also have access to great hiking trails and park areas like Meyerparken.
Getting Around:
From the location, you can reach all of the city's attractions on foot. However, if you prefer, there are excellent bus connections just meters away from the house. In addition to buses and public transportation, electric scooters are a popular option for getting around the city while also doing some sightseeing along the way. You can find these available at several locations in the nearby streets. If you arrive at the location by car, you can park on the street outside the house. The price is 330 NOK per day. Otherwise, the regular hourly rate applies during the daytime. Parking is free at night and on Sundays.

The home is a 10 min walk from town up a significant hill. Most nights we took an uber home after a day of walking and sightseeing due to the steep grade. The unit had many issues including no working overhead lights in the main bedroom, no internet connection for multiple days, and very steeps stairs to the main living floor. In addition we couldn’t use the balcony because the neighbor who shares it had allowed their dog to poop all over. The most troubling items were the shower which flooded the bathroom each time you used it because the doors do not contact the floor. We had to stuff towels under the door frames to help limit the flooding. And there were ants on every floor of the unit.

The unit was clean, and could be ideal for young couples. It is advertised as sleeping up to 8, but it is very small and tight, and really only fit for 4-5 people. It lacks basic things like towel racks or hooks, and bedside lamps. The stairs are very steep with no railing. Older adults should be aware that it is located on the side of the hill overlooking Bergen. It is a lovely neighborhood, and fun to walk down to Sentrum in the mornings, but the hike uphill is quite steep and difficult if you want to access your place multiple times during the day. Do not try to bring a lot of luggage to this place. Travel light, or use Uber when you first arrive.Communication was good, but we were disappointed with a few things that were not as promised, or lacked follow through. We never met the owner, so we suspect it is being managed by a company, not the owner. Overall, we managed to enjoy our stay in Bergen, but I don't think i would attempt to stay in this unit again.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. I’m glad the unit was clean and that communication met your needs, and I apologize that several aspects fell short of expectations.
I heard your points about the advertised capacity — we will update the listing to better show the layout and a realistic comfortable occupancy (best suited for about 4–5 adults). We’ve scheduled installation of towel hooks and bedside lamps, and we’re adding brighter lighting and anti-slip treads on the stairs. A railing is also being planned to improve safety.
The hillside location does give the view but involves steep walks up to the unit; I’ll add clearer notes in the listing about the incline and luggage recommendations so future guests can plan accordingly. I’m also reviewing our pre-arrival checklist with the team to ensure promised items are completed before guest arrivals.
