ACCESSIBILITY

The apartment is located in a strategic position in Menaggio, within an ancient village. To reach the entrance of the property, you must go through the village and climb 50 steps.

Menaggio is a charming town situated on the picturesque shores of Lake Como. One of its highlights is the beautiful lakeside promenade offering breathtaking views. Take a leisurely stroll along the promenade and immerse yourself in the lake\'s tranquility. Outdoor enthusiasts will find a haven in Menaggio. The surrounding area offers a multitude of activities, from hiking and mountain biking in the nearby mountains to water sports such as sailing, kayaking, and paddleboarding on the lake. Nature lovers will also appreciate the abundance of hiking trails leading to stunning panoramic viewpoints, allowing you to fully appreciate the natural beauty of Lake Como. Menaggio is also a perfect starting point for exploring other towns and villages around the lake. You can easily take a ferry to visit Bellagio, Varenna, or Tremezzo, each with its own charm and attractions.

GETTING AROUND

For convenience, we recommend that guests reach the apartment by car. It is less convenient by public transportation, although there is a bus service, the ASF C10 line, connecting Como to Menaggio. From the center of Menaggio, a transfer to the ASF C14 line is needed to reach the area where the apartment is located.

In Menaggio, you will also find a pier where local ferries can take you to Como, Bellagio, Varenna, and other towns on the lake. Please note that during peak season, there may be long queues at the ticket office. Tickets can also be purchased online from the Navigazione Laghi website. A ferry for cars is also available. From the Como San Giovanni train station, regular trains depart to Milan Centrale and Switzerland (Lugano, Bellinzona, Locarno). From Como Nord Lago, there is a train connection to Milan Cadorna. The nearest airports are Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, and Orio al Serio in Bergamo. A direct shuttle service to and from the airport can be arranged at an additional cost. TIPS

We recommend dedicating a day to visit the wonderful towns around the lake. The city of Como is the urban center of the area, but the smaller towns are gems with beautiful lakeside villas.

To move around and walk by Lake Como, especially in the smaller towns, comfortable shoes are essential.

There are many public drinking fountains in the area, and the water is safe to drink unless otherwise indicated. Tap water is also potable. You can bring your refillable bottle!

If you’re looking for a relatively easy hike in the area and still want to enjoy mountain views, the Greenway del Lago di Como is an easy-to-follow trail connecting the lakeside towns from Colonno to Griante and does not require strenuous climbs. A bus can take you to the starting point in Colonno.

Look for traditional restaurants to taste local food, such as dishes based on Lake Como fish.

In Italy, many shops (especially small ones) and services close in the middle of the day, so plan your shopping accordingly.

Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are prohibited in many areas and can be dangerous. For those who wish to swim, however, there are some options. There is a beach (lido) in Menaggio. Locals and visitors also enjoy going to Nesso, where the more daring swimmers can jump into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall.

The Lido di Bellagio and the pebbly beach of San Giovanni await those who want to travel and explore the beautiful town of Bellagio, located at the center of the two branches of the lake.

Lake Como is located in a mountainous region. The surrounding Prealps may not seem very high, but the climate is still influenced by the nearby mountains, and temperatures can change quickly. Pay particular attention to the weather conditions during hikes and bring warm, waterproof clothing!
