To ensure complete privacy and peaceful environment, each villa is surrounded by naturally crafted stone walls and various kinds of flowers, aromatic herbs, olive trees, lemon trees and apricot trees. Our villas have all you need and more to enjoy a self catering holiday. Adding to the sense of space, there are wooden cathedral ceilings throughout the villas. The villas have state of the art windows and doors that open vertically and horizontally. All windows and doors, including slide doors, contain screens. Wonderful hosts very friendly and helpful and made us two delicious cakes. Fantastic large pool. Beautiful views of the sea, mountains and olive trees from the balcony.Lovely bbq. Ample parking. All cooking and equipment provided that you could need. Fresh sheets and towels for the second week.Many great day trips to a huge variety of lovely beaches, lake kournas swimming with turtles, Rethmynon and Chania are well worth a visit.Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

Relaxing escape in paradise

Helen and Mike were amazing hosts, if not the best hosts we have ever stayed with. The villa was serene, the amount of greenery surrounding the house brought us away from the busy city life. The location was perfect, a 15 min drive from chania city centre and perfect drives from all beaches. They were very responsive and helpful, and Helen prepared a delicious orange cake upon our arrival. The pool was cleaned often and we were taken care of. Would 100% return.

This was a great place to stay: beautiful view, very quiet and not far away from Chania. There was everything needed in the house, big swimming pool and clean. We were two familys and we each had our floor which was useful. Helen was a great host, any issue/questions we had, were answered in the following hour as they live nearby

Very comfortable bed, well equipped quiet property, ideally placed to enjoy this breath taking area and the weather was glorious....what more could we want! My only wish would be somewhere to put my early morning cup of tea on my side of the bed.

Peaceful, convenient location and warm welcome

We've enjoyed the House and the location. The house is very comfortable and The swimming pool was perfect. The place is very calm. We have appreciated the warm welcome of the owners and the home-made chocolate cake with the wine and the olive oil. And it was lovely to have dinner on the Terrace and breakfast in the morning with the wonderful view. Very convenient with a car to mix the quietness and go quickly to shops, town and beaches. Would strongly recommand this place.

Paradise in Crete

If you want peace and tranquillity then this is the property for you. Upon arrival we were met by a very friendly Helen with a gorgeous cake......which was consumed rather too quickly :-) The villa was exactly as described. It was lovely and quiet, not overlooked and was fitted out well. Any questions we had were quickly answered by Helen. The location has a gorgeous sea view and was close enough to the local beaches and places of interest. I would definitely stay here again......

Lovely villa, with excellent views and very accommodating hosts

Very warm welcome with hosts meeting us late at night at the closest highway exit and leading us to the villa. Owner had prepared some food for our arrival, which was very kind and much appreciated . During our stay we were also given fruit and vegetables by the hosts. Villa is well presented and spacious, with quality air conditioning in all the rooms. Pool was maintained/cleaned every 2/3 days: a lovely area to relax in. Villa well located for tourist attractions, beaches, water sports, restaurants etc, however car is essential. Villa met all our requirements, we enjoyed the tranquility of its setting and we would highly recommend and happily stay again.

Two Weeks of Total Relaxation

If you are looking for a Villa where the facilities are good and the owner is both hospitable and doesn't interfere when you are there then look no further thah Villa Michael. Helen was extremely helpful in meeting us when we arrived and taking us straight to the Villa--and we were welcomed with home made cakes, wine, olive oil and Raki, as well as being able to pick fresh lemons and apricots from the trees in the garden. A really relaxing and pleasant two weeks and we would certainly recommend this to others who want peaceful surroundings but somewhere that is close to Chania and a not too long a drive from Rethymnon. Thanks Helen for making it a really good two weeks.

Quiet location with superb views

This was our second visit to the villas and it was even better than the first. We have not slept or relaxed as much for a long time on holiday. The villas all have outstanding views, we enjoyed the privacy of your own pool. Chania only 15 mins away, although the local shops and supermarket 5 mins away, a car is essential. Helen and Mike are very discreet but on hand to help with anything. They provide the most amazing olive oil, cake, bread, vegetables and we even had a lemon tree in our graden. Their kindness and generosity knows no bounds and we will not hesitate to visit their special place in Crete again.

The place to be for relaxation near Chania

Helen and Mike are very welcoming people and we have appreciated the home made orange cake, wine, olive oil and Raki for our arrival. Thank you Helen for the meeting at the exit of the highway to help us to find the villa.The villa is wonderfully located, spacious, quiet and very comfortable. The pool is very nice and maintened 3x/week. Ideally located, you are about 1 hour from all the interesting visits: the beaches of Elafonissi, Paleochora and Sougia on the sea of Libya, the Samaria Gorge, Rethymnon and 20' from Kolimbari, 15' from Chania, etc. The supermarkets are 10' away. If you are looking for a very good restaurant (the best in the area for us), don't hesitate to go to "Taverna Elia" in Galatas (5 'from the villa by car). It's delicious (Cretan food) and really cheap. This is the 4th time we come in Crete and this villa is definitely the one we will choose if we come back.

Excellent villa with view of the sea near Chania

This was an excellent holiday and Villa Michael a lovely place to stay. The villa was well-presented and just as advertised on the website. It has a super view from its rural location, both down to the sea and up to the Lefka Ori mountains, both beautiful and seen from all around the property, not least from the balcony dining table. The private pool and area surrounding it are fabulous - in many holidays to villas, including several with HomeAway, this was one of the best. Helen and Mike are great hosts. Helen and another family member came out to meet us off the highway, even though it was late at night, and make our approach straightforward. This was much appreciated, as were the welcome gifts including a delicious orange cake. The villa and the pool were both regularly, but unobtrusively, cleaned, whilst Helen's level of contact was just right, and included some great suggestions for wonderful local restaurants. Along with some of the exciting local places to visit, this was an excellent holiday all round and highly recommended! Mark, Veronica and Chris, Derby U.K.

Very nice place

First, I think it would have been difficult for us to find the house by ourselves but no problem Helen was waiting for us when we left the main road. The house is among the olive trees on the hill with wonderful views on the sea and on the mountains, from the terrace and the pool. The garden is very well maintained. The flowers are beautiful The house is very quiet as there is no traffic in the street. Helen gave us all the information, and advices for visits, supermarket, restaurant. Except for the ones who would want only to stay at the villa and around the pool, a car is needed. We could find all what we needed in the supermarket 10 minutes drive from home. The house is clean, comfortable and has a little dish washing machine and a washing machine. The beds are good. The description on the site is faithful. The owners are very nice people. A cake was waiting for us when we arrived in the villa with wine and olive oil they product. Michael brought us some vegetables from his garden. We could not find better place to stay and we strongly hope we will be able to come back there soon.

Peace and Tranquility with a Personal Touch

We first discovered Old Fountain Villas in the autumn of 2014 and have just completed our third stay. Set in the Galatas hills overlooking the distant sea, we find the four-bedroomed villa quiet and peaceful. Surrounded by olive trees and orange groves we hear the twitter of birds and can see raptors flying over the valley. If you like to be away from it all, yet within easy reach of the local village, and about ten to fifteen minutes from the local beaches adjacent "the strip", there is no better place. Helen and Mike directed us to the taverna in Galatas village, run by a local family who offer a variety of delicious Cretan dishes. If you fancy a change there are ample tavernas along the "strip" and we found some particularly good food off the main street just up the hillside. There are also two very large supermarkets within easy reach which Helen and Mike again told us how to find. The villa has very comfortable beds, three bathrooms and plenty of alternative seating areas. Eating out on the upper terrace which is well shaded, is a treat. There is a large unheated swimming pool with a spacious area for sun-loungers. If you fancy a day out we prefer the beach at Gorgona, down "the strip", turning right immediately before the traffic lights and Sylk Oil garage on the left. There are ample sun loungers on the beach for hire, beach restaurant serving excellent food and a children's play area if the youngsters like to do something different. Chania town also provides a good day out with a wealth of restaurants and shops to keep you occupied. In Helen and Mike we have found hosts who are so kind and friendly. They give us space yet are so attentive keeping us supplied with olive oil, eggs if the chickens are laying well and vegetables from the garden depending on the season. We can say they are the best hosts we have encountered in 25 years of hiring villas in Western Europe. This last year we were accompanied by our two daughters and their respective partners and two grandchildren. Such was the good time had by all we received an immediate request to book again for 2017. The dates are already in Helen's diary.

Der Aufenthalt im Ferienhaus von Helen und Mike war für uns sehr angenehm und wir fühlten uns sehr willkommen. Dazu trug auch ein Willkommenskuchen bei, den Helen uns gebacken hatte und der sehr gut schmeckte. Wir waren im Oktober die einzigen Gäste, es gibt noch zwei weitere Häuser. Die Aufteilung des Ferienhauses ist sehr familienfreundlich, ein Kinder- und ein Elternschlafzimmer, die jeweils ein Badezimmer besitzen, eins mit Dusche und eins mit Wanne. Wlan funktionierte auf Anhieb und war sehr leistungsstark. Die Warmwasserbereitung war etwas kompliziert in Gang zu setzen, aber funktionierte dann aber auch einwandfrei. Die Kommunikation mit den Vermietern war sehr angenehm und freundlich via SMS bzw. bei Ankunft auch persönlich. Die Küche für Selbstkocher ist ausreichend ausgestattet, es gibt scharfe Messer, Gurkenreibe und Co. An Töpfen herrscht für 3-4 Personen kein Mangel. Die Badezimmer benötigen ein wenig Aufmerksamkeit nach sicherlich vielen Jahren der Nutzung, sowohl die zu kleinen und lockeren Toilettenbrillen und die Armatur in der Wanne, wie der Duschkopf in der recht engen Dusche müssten erneuert werden.Die sehr dezentrale Lage erlaubt keine fußläufigen Wege in die Ortschaft, aber dafür ist es schön ruhig. In wenigen Minuten ist man mit dem Auto auf der Schnellstraße und in 7 Km in Chania. Wir können das Ferienhaus sehr empfehlen und haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Erholungsurlaub in ruhiger Lage.

Sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Gastgeber. Wir wurden von den Gastgebern an der Autobahnausfahrt abgeholt und zu dem Objekt gelotst. Dort erwartete uns frisch gebackener Kuchen, Wasser, Olivenöl, Wein und Raki. Dreimal pro Woche wurde der Pool gereinigt, und der Poolboy reinigte sogar den am Tag zuvor von uns benutzten Außengrill. Bei Fragen standen Helen und Mike jederzeit zur Verfügung. Es war ein sehr entspannter und ruhiger Urlaub. Der Strand, die Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und auch die Tavernen waren jedoch ohne Auto schlecht zu erreichen, ein Fußweg wäre zu lang gewesen. Vielen Dank nochmal an Helen und Mike für die Gastfreundschaft und den Aufenthalt in Ihrem schönen Haus.
