We booked this property because the listing said “Entire Home.” When we arrived at 10:00 p.m. after a 15 hour drive, we discovered it was actually a shared property with an occupied basement unit. We never book shared units because we do not want to deal with noise from neighbors, so this was very disappointing. The unit was also cold when we arrived. The thermostat read 64 degrees and was set to “cool,” but there was a lock box on it so we could not adjust the temperature. It was in the 30s outside, so heat would have been appreciated. I messaged the owner and received no response. The noise was another major issue. We could clearly hear the downstairs guests laughing, yelling, and screaming until around 1:00 a.m., then woke up again to loud packing noises around 7:30 a.m. It honestly sounded like they were in the room with us.When the owner finally responded, he insisted the thermostat reading was the outside temperature (even though it was 63 inside and 38 outside) and he blamed me for not reading the listing carefully, claiming it clearly stated the property was shared. I had screenshots of the full listing showing it did not say that anywhere. When I asked for proof, he sent a screenshot from the owner editing page showing where he was actively changing the listing to add that it was shared. The property itself matched the photos, but because of the misleading listing, locked thermostat, noise, and rude owner, I would not stay here again.
