Overall the amenities are good and the check-in process was quick and painless. Our issue is with the overall condition and cleanliness of the property. While we understand that there could still be damaged from the hurricane 11 months ago that is plenty of time to update the listing to reflect it's current state as other listings have done. The condo overall is lacking from standard upkeep though with pielling paint in the bathroom ceilings and other items. On the outlets was completely missing a cover which I am pretty sure is against code. All of the liens were dirty as well, perhaps they just need a new cleaning service for the fee they charge. I know it states that beach chairs are not included, but be aware that they are 40 dollars a day so if another listing includes them fro around the same cost it might be worth an additional 10-15 a night. We stayed at this resort in June of this year in another condo with no issues.
Great Family Location
We had a wonderful time and look forward to staying at the property again. The restaurant on site by the pool has great food and it's cheaper than some of the nearby choices. You are just steps from the beach and the multiple pool areas are filled with plenty of chairs.
Not bad, but a little work would go a long ways
Overall a decent place. Owner was quick to respond during check-in process and friendly.
The place wasn't terribly clean, the floors felt a bit dirty, there was sand in the beds, master shower had black mold in some areas. This is likely related to the cleaning crew, not so much the owner.
There were two coffee makers, one turned on but didn't heat up, the other had mold growing in it. My wife cleaned it and used it because coffee is more important than a little bit of mold I guess. The master shower was adjustable... or used to be. It was broken and basically sprayed you in your stomach the entire time. The master bedroom ceiling fan didn't turn on, but I'm not sure if that was the fan or the 10 different variations of possible switch/knob combos, none of which seemed to work. Dishes and glasses had an odd film on them, maybe just a cheap detergent, but maybe the cleaning crew should use better detergent? No dish soap to hand wash anything, but there was cheap detergent that I could use to likely just recreate the film that was already on the dishes.
All of these were not major, but they're very simple to resolve and with minimal value associated with them.
Room Pros: Place was accurately depicted in the photos other than a few areas of wall damage, nothing that hurt our stay in any way. Furniture was fine and so forth. 7th floor is a good floor for observing the beach and such.
Resort Cons: These are not related to the owner of this room, these are solely issues with the resort. The elevators are a nightmare depending on what time of day. Multiple times we had to wait 20-30 minutes. We eventually decided to catch the elevator going up so we could get on, to which we would then get to go back down and see multiple floors of people frustrated and waiting.
The "water park" is freezing. Even on a 90+ day, it's completely shaded and the water is not heated.
Lastly, they align their chairs/umbrellas on as much beach space as possible, but very few people utilize them. Now those who don't use their chairs and crammed together while their chairs/umbrellas just take up space.
Resort Pros: Kids enjoyed the arcade, pools are pretty good and the walk down to the beach is pretty short. I have no idea how they can improve the elevator fiasco though.
Thanks for a detailed response! We will work on resolving these before next season..
Have stayed at Splash Resort in the past and will continue to vacation there...great place for kids!
Met our needs with just a few aesthetic issues.
The size of the condo was great for our family of 4 with a great balcony view. Could have used more silverware so we didn’t have to wash dishes every day though. The front exterior wall of the condo must have had some water damage because the lower half of the whole front side of the condo was bare, replaced drywall. One recliner we was broken and the other didn’t work great. Furniture and bedding could use upgrading, but the king size bed was super comfortable. Bathrooms were great aside from the ceiling peeling in the master bath over the shower. The owner provided a couple of boogie boards and beach chairs, which was very nice and extremely helpful. The resort itself needs to work on the elevator situation, as we had to wait extremely long periods of time just to get on one. We waited almost 30 minutes the day we had to check out and ended up having to use the stairs. And there was an outfall located on the beach right beside ours where they drained a swamp or something across the street. One morning the sand had given way and black water and debris was pouring out of this outfall/culvert pipe onto the beach and ocean right where our tent sat the day before. Smelled horrible and the remaining brown water lingered for days. But the pools, lazy river and splash pad were essential in the happiness of our boys. Between that and the beach, they had a blast.
Thanks for the detailed review, Kim. We certainly appreciate the feedback and will work on the issues you noted above.
Great Place and Great Experience
We got to the property after a long drive and it was just what we needed. It was a cute room and we loved how it was decorated. It had everything we needed and more than we expected. We had trouble with the door keypad at check in and called the owner and he answered right away to help us get in. We also left something in the room after we checked out and he was great trying to help us get what we’d left back. I was super impressed! I will definitely stay here again when we come back to Panama City.
