This lovely and very comfortable cottage is situated in an idyllic location on the banks of the Tay. Kingfisher Cottage is one of three picturesque cottages newly restored to a very high standard. Located between the Logierait Bridge and the Upper Kinnaird Fishing Hut, the cottage has lawns leading right down to the water’s edge and offers an up-close encounter with nature, and is named after one of the many birds you may spot from your front door. However due to the proximity to the river, the cottage is not suitable for small children. Set over two levels, the cottage sleeps two guests. Downstairs you will find an open plan kitchen and living room with wood burner and Smart television. Fully equipped kitchen with electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer, the kitchen also has a dinning table to seat four. There is a separate downstairs toilet and a washer/dryer should you need to wash any clothes. Upstairs there is a bright and spacious double bedroom overlooking the river, en-suite with shower and free-standing bath.
There are some lovely walks in the local area, as well as birdwatching or just relaxing and enjoying the peace and tranquillity while surrounded by spectacular scenery. By prior arrangement with the estate, guests are able to fish for salmon in season (at cost) on one of the most highly regarded beats on the River Tay; loch fishing is also available at Two Hill Loch. The estate has a long history dating back to the early 1600s when it was owned by the Stewart family. Over the centuries many famous people have been known to have lived or stayed here including several leading Scottish literary figures including James Hogg, Sir Walter Scott’s poet friend and protégé.
For guests who enjoy being out in the great outdoors, this area of Perthshire provides walking, cycling and hill walking to suit all abilities. Various water sports can be enjoyed on Loch Tay, with kayaking and white water rafting nearby. There are several local golf courses in the area and the championship Gleneagles course is within an hour’s drive.
