About this property

Nordlandshus on historic farm site on Vega

This authentic log cabin has a charm that few other places can match. The Nordland house was dismantled and moved here log by log, then rebuilt on the very spot where the host’s great-great-grandfather once lived. Here you’ll encounter the history and craftsmanship of a bygone era, combined with modern comforts such as a heat pump, smart TV, and comfortable beds.

Inside, you’ll find a style featuring furniture and details from thrift stores that give the house its unique character. There’s plenty of space and comfortable seating areas, and the shower is modern and inviting. As soon as you step inside, your shoulders relax and a sense of calm washes over you. Children are welcome, but please note that there is no child gate at the top of the stairs.

Outside, you can enjoy your morning coffee on your own terrace overlooking the fields, where there’s abundant birdlife and deer often wander by. In the afternoon and evening, there are also seating areas next to the house with a partial ocean view. Sheep graze peacefully in the landscape around you.

From there, it’s just a 5–10-minute walk down to the docks and the sea. In the summer, there’s a cozy café serving homemade pancakes, and you can rent SUP boards, kayaks, and bicycles here. Explore chalk-white sandy beaches and hundreds of islets, islands, and skerries. Visit the Eider Duck Museum in the old, authentic pier, or the World Heritage Center with its museum and café just 2 km away.

The host lives right next to the cabin, so if you need anything, help is just around the corner. Of course, guests’ privacy is a top priority, and you’ll have plenty of it here.
