Charming Norfolk brick and flint cottage, with modern, cosy interiors.
Jasmine Cottage is located on The Street, Syderstone, a picturesque typical North Norfolk village, located near Fakenham and near to the coast.
It is a charming traditional 1850’s brick and flint cottage. It has been beautifully renovated by its’ owners and is now modern and yet cosy, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a well-equipped contemporary kitchen.
It is a semi-detached property with a private garden, with table and chairs, which is perfect for relaxing and socialising. The garden has established planting, and we love that it is a haven for bees, butterflies, hummingbird moths, frogs and all sorts of birds. There is a cherry tree and buddleia that give shady cover on very sunny days.
This cottage is a well-loved and a cosy holiday home. The kitchen is well-equipped and has been kitted out to suit a keen cook. It is bright and airy with a roof light and triple aspect windows looking onto the garden and it open onto a snug dining area. The main bathroom and utility area can also be accessed from the dining area. The bathroom has modern fittings, with a bath and shower with great water pressure. The Utility area has a separate washer and dryer.
The lounge is bright and cool during the summer and snug and warm during the winter. There is plenty of comfortable seating for all guests and a new smart TV. The cupboard houses family games and puzzles and there is a variety of books to suit adults and children on the shelves.
Heading upstairs, there are two bedrooms. The master bedroom is spacious, with a double bed, small sofa and chair for relaxing and plenty of storage with a free-standing wardrobe and chest of drawers. There is a small cloakroom style bathroom (sink and loo) and airing cupboard. And finally, the second bedroom has a triple sleeper bunk bed (small double on the bottom and single up top). All bedrooms have curtains and/or blinds. The bedding is hypoallergenic and has summer/winter duvets and quality bed linens.
There are lots of local fantastic beaches nearby to explore – special mention is Brancaster, Old Hunstanton, Holkham, and Wells-Next-The-Sea. The nearest beach to Syderstone is Brancaster, which is approx. 9.5 miles and takes about 15 minutes to drive there.
Other local attractions for nature lovers are the Syderstone Common (part of the Norfolk Wildlife Trust), RSPB bird reserve at Titchwell, the nature reserve at Holme Dunes (also NWT) and the coastal path walk from Thornham.
The nearest shops are the ‘village’ shop – Andy’s General Store at Four Winds Estate (to be found on the Kings Lynn Road). Andy and his team are very welcoming, and they have a great selection of food and wines and good prices – including local cheeses and localwines. Open 7 days a week, 7-7pm) There is good a café next door (they do amazing sandwiches!)
There is also a Spar store in Docking, approximately 5 miles away, again open 7 days a week, open 7-10pm. Good selection of everyday items and has the bonus of a post office counter.
Burnham Market is approximately 6 miles away and takes about 15 minutes to drive there – it is the quaintest of larger villages in the area, with a great choice of independent stores such as Ffarr, Satchell’s Wine shop, Gurneys Fish shop and Humble Pie Deli. The post office also has a great bookshop. There are also great places to eat such as 29 and Socius (you would need to book this in advance however). Also in Burnham is a petrol station, which has The Mermaid Fish and Chips and Greedy Panda Chinese Takeaway.
Fakenham is the nearest town – during the week there is a couple of daily buses from the village. However, it takes only takes 10-15 minutes to drive there. Fakenham is a small town centre with a combination of independent retailers and high street offers. It has great supermarkets (Aldi, Lidl, Morrisons, Tesco) and two petrol stations. One of the best things about Fakenham is Central Cinema. Independently run, its inexpensive and always has a great choice of films to see – perfect for an evening or a rainy day’s activity.
Not far from Fakenham is Pensthorpe – perfect for a days activity for families. Or if you prefer a cultural day trip, Houghton Hall, Holkham Hall and Sandringham are all a short drive away.

Why they chose this property
Having spent childhood holidays in Norfolk, we were keen to have a place to go with our own family. We found the cottage in Syderstone and were charmed by the quiet village and proximity to the coastline.
