The Wiseman Cottage is a 2 story, 4 bedroom house built in 1930 and completely renovated in the last 4 years. It is the 4th vacation rental in Fayetteville owned and managed by Bill and Sally Wells under the Mountain Vacation Properties Banner. We pride ourselves in providing the best combination of location, luxury accommodations and price for our guests and you can see our guest reviews on our other properties #452740, #563229 and #707475 The house was the home of Doc Wiseman who was a prominent resident of Fayetteville and owner of a pharmacy and soda fountain that was located across the street from the courthouse. Wiseman Avenue, where the house is located was named after Doc Wiseman's father. The house has many beautiful architectural features like hardwood floors, built in cabinets and beveled glass doors. The recent renovations included complete remodeling of the kitchen and bathrooms. The house can accommodate up to 11 people. Bedroom #1 is located on the ground floor and contains a full size bed and a twin bed. The remaining bedrooms are located on the second floor. Bedroom #2 has a full size bed. Bedroom #3 has two twin beds and Bedroom #4 has a queen size bed and a master bath. The other full bathroom is also located on the second floor. There is a half bath on the first floor. The back yard is fenced in and the house is pet friendly. Parking is available in the driveway for up to 6 vehicles. No parking is allowed on the street. The house directly behind the Wiseman Cottage is one of our other vacation rentals (The McGrath House #707475). If you have a larger group, you can rent both houses. The McGrath House is a 4 bedroom house and sleeps up to 12. The Wiseman Cottage is 1.5 blocks from the center of downtown Fayetteville and is close to parks, shopping, restaurants and hiking/biking trails. The old Fayetteville Elementary School is immediately across the street and it has a large fenced in front yard that is now been converted to the town's dog park. The school also has a football field. Most of Fayetteville's unique shops and restaurants are within easy walking distance (1 to 3 blocks). My wife Sally grew up in Fayetteville. I (Bill) am from Pittsburgh and got here as soon as I could. I am a mining engineer and recently semi-retired where I work 2 days per week. Sally spends much of her time looking after our vacation rental properties. We started out in the vacation rental business in 2013 when we bought and renovated Sally's parents home where she grew up. We love Fayetteville and the surrounding area and we enjoy many of the outdoor recreation opportunities here like hiking, rafting, biking and cross country skiing. I am also the President of the New River Gorge Trail Alliance, a 501C3 non profit organization that is dedicated to creating a long distance trail network in the six counties surrounding the New River Gorge.

Why they chose this property

The Wiseman Cottage is located in a great neighborhood in downtown Fayetteville. It has beautiful architectural features and was well built, well maintained and recently renovated. Sally knew the Wisemans and always loved the house. It is located directly behind one of our other vacation rental properties, the McGrath House (#707475), and groups with up to 23 people can reserve both properties. Fayetteville has many unique restaurants, bars and shops and this house is within easy walking distance (1 to 3 blocks) to most of them. It is also close to the local trails, playgrounds, town parks and the New River Gorge National Park. The New River Gorge Trail Alliance regional trail network passes directly in front of the house. The former Fayetteville Elementary School dog park and football field are directly across the street. The 200 acre Gaines Property is a two minute walk from the house and the New River Gorge Town Park trailhead is only 1/2 mile away. The New River Gorge Bridge itself is 1.5 miles from the house and all of the outdoor adventure outfitters are located between 4 and 7 miles away.

What makes this property unique

The Wiseman Cottage offers the best combination of luxury, well maintained accomodations, convenient location and affordability in the New River Gorge Area.
