OMG...Clean...Clean

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful stay while staying at this very clean cottage. Enjoyed waking up each morning to see the lake and all it's activity. Very close to Bemus Point and just a short drive to Jamestown. You couldn't find any nicer people than the owners, Dana and Tom, and they were very accommodating in every way possible.

Great size place for a getaway for my wife & I

  • 5 of 5

Exactly what my wife & I needed in regards to space and the calm nature of the lake. The cottage was very clean and just right for us. My wife had been to Lake Chautauqua years ago when she was younger with her now deceased parents who I never had the pleasure to meet. I thought it would be a good place to visit and as I didn't know where she had stayed, I figured we would hit every aspect of the lake and surrounding areas in hopes to cross paths with her past. We smiled, laughed, and cried a bit too! Our journey continues!

Really enjoyed our stay at this cottage

  • 4 of 5

We found the cottage to be very easy to find, very clean, very tidy. Access to the dock and lake were great! Enjoyed frequenting local diner for breakfast and local brew pub for an evening beer. Would love to stay again

Cute little cottage that was laid back and relaxing.

  • 4 of 5

Would have given this 5 stars except the bedrooms are on the smaller side that only allow for double beds. Everything else was great.

Perfect cottage for 2-3 people! Clean, nice lakefront property.

This was our first time staying at Lola Lakeside cottage. We have however, stayed at another Chautauqua Lake cottage owned by friends for the last 15 years. However, that cottage was not available this year so we booked Lola Lakeside. My husband and two sons ( aged 22, 19) went as well. From my perspective, I thought the cottage was clean, and quaint. I am only 5ft.1 in. so the lower ceiling and windows in some spots did not bother me. I loved the location and I walked into Bemus every morning. I enjoyed reading by the lake ( on the days the water didn't smell )in the lounge chair provided and the four of us played a Frisbee game in the yard. Parking was also great. My husband and sons however, are tall, 6ft.+ and they felt that the cottage was smaller than what they would like. They had to bend down to walk in the door and in order to look out the window you have to be sitting on the couch. We took our kayaks but unfortunately we were not able to use them because there was not easy access to getting in the water. The water itself was another issue, it smelled really bad and looked even worse. My son said he would NOT be happy if he fell out of the kayak in to the water. From what I understand, there is an algae problem. Because of the lack of things to do my husband and boys golfed every day. Which was great but also an added expense we hadn't planned on.

I highly recommend Lola Lakeside for a couple or a family of 3. My husband and I slept on a queen air mattress as there are only full-sized beds in each of the bedrooms and it would have been difficult for our sons to share. They each had their own bed. Before heading to Chautauqua Lake again though I would inquire about the algae problem/smell before I made vacation plans. :(

Owner's Response: Glad that you enjoyed the cottage. Unfortunately, the blue-green algae is a growing challenge for lakes and beaches all over the world. Luckily it is not a constant problem on our lake as we have several local organizations working to keep it healthy.
