Espectacular Ocean Beach y pista de tenis

Impresionantes vistas, pista de tenis, playa de arena privada. Un campamento tradicional de Maine para unas vacaciones familiares extraordinarias. Esta casa de campo única se encuentra en lo alto de la colina de Rockledge que domina el océano y la desembocadura del río Kennebec. Siéntese en la terraza o en el interior junto a los ventanales y déjese seducir por el paisaje espectacular. Camina por la playa de arena suave que se extiende por millas. Esta casa de campo fue construida por el padre del propietario hace más de cincuenta años y ha sido cuidadosamente mantenida y modernizada por la familia. Cocina totalmente equipada, recientemente renovada, con estufa, refrigerador y microondas, vajilla y utensilios de cocina. Un baño y medio con ducha. Dormitorio principal con cama queen size. Dos acogedoras habitaciones con literas individuales. Todas las sábanas (excepto toallas de playa) siempre. Sala de estar y porche de sol. Servicio telefónico local. Televisión por cable. Servicio de internet WiFi de alta velocidad.
Tenis: disfrute del tenis con vista al mar y la brisa en la única cancha de tenis de Popham. Este es un tribunal privado. Su uso es exclusivo. No está disponible para los inquilinos en otras casas de campo.

I've been staying at Popham Beach since I was a kid (so, ahem, about 50 years now) and this is by far the best, coziest, still-feels-like-old-Maine cottage I've ever stayed in. It's a privilege to stay in a place that's such a gem and family-owned. I very much look forward to returning and so do my (adult) kids!

Great cottage on Popham

The cottage is in a great location, just steps from the beach. Sue and Joe are fantastic owners that responded to any issues we had. We did have an issue with ants in the cottage but Sue took care of it as quickly as possible. Would love to stay again!

Slice of Heaven on Earth

This was my second year staying at this lovely cottage along the shoreline of Popham Beach, our family's special place to gather for over 40 years. The cottage and amenities are perfect for enjoying the beach, lazy mornings on the deck playing board games and reading. Plenty of nooks and crannies inside for peaceful moments all with an amazing view of the ocean. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with me once again.

Walk to the beach!

This location is excellent. It was so nice to be able to walk to the beach without needing to pack a car to get there. There are lots of stairs, some steep, but our 2, 6, and 7 year olds had no issuue. We had a great time and would come again. Popham is a beautiful place.

Beautiful and convenient

We had a wonderful week at the Rockledge cottage. Most of the rooms have amazing views of the ocean, and it’s a very short walk to the beach. The kitchen has been recently renovated and has everything needed. The tennis court was a nice bonus. We would love to return next summer!

Slice of Heaven on Earth

Lulled to sleep by the sounds of the ocean, lured to the waters as the sun rose and glistened over the water. Charming and cozy cottage nestled on the hill surrounded by greenery. Excellent communication with owners who quickly answered questions prior to and during stay. Beds were comfortable and lots of nooks and crannies for reading and playing board games. Amazing deck and views. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

It IS a Spectacular Spot

The incredible location and unique ecology--dunes and pitch pines!--make this a very special spot. There were many times we were alone on the vast expanse of sand. Bonus: "Rockledge" is the perfect stroll by dirt road or beach to the recently updated Spinney's restaurant & store (with ice cream counter), close to Fort Popham. It's fun to watch the seals play in the rapid outflow of the Kennebec River while sitting on the Spinney's patio or walking to Fort Popham with ice cream in hand. We also saw striper jumping more than once! There are some things to understand about beach rules/customs and also how the house is situated--it has a great view, but if you're outside you're on the lovely deck or you're taking the dune path to the beach. There's not much of an in-between, but the rocky ledge is what gives you the great vantage on the ocean and islands. The house itself is cool and quirky. It can be surprisingly hard to find places that haven't been stripped of their soul in pursuit of some trend, so we appreciated the history and character here. We'd prefer a more modern mattress and a dryer would be a great addition for wet/foggy days. The kitchen is a bit small if you have more than one cook, but if you have to make those kind of tradeoffs for a memorable spot, we are happy to do that for a week. It was all a feast for the senses and imagination.

Location is unbeatable

Popham beach is our happy place. We loved being so close to the ocean. We enjoyed the cottage and would love to return someday. It did take us a bit to adjust. The deck is very nice and even though the cottage is rustic, the kitchen and bathroom seemed to both have been recently updated. We spent many hours sitting on the beach and walking. Side note: There are ticks leading in the grass to the water.... please be cautious of this. I think we were there during their peak peskiness. With that said, I have and would recommend this spot to anyone that loves Maine and the ocean.

Popham splendor in full view

Our family vacations every summer in Popham and have done so for more than 15 years. We’ve tried a variety of rental properties over the years and have now found a new favorite. The location, setting, and uniqueness, coupled with the sights, sounds, and sand of Popham all add up to an unbeatable experience. The cottage is located at the end of a dirt road and nestled just behind the dunes, giving it a really nice exclusive feeling. Though the structure itself is not new, it has clearly been maintained very well, is clean, and has the charm and character we appreciate in a classic Maine beachside cottage. Access might be a challenge for some, as there are a few flights of stairs to climb for entry. A few other noteworthy things: * Nearly every room has an ocean view! * The owners keep the gardens on the property popping with flowers. * There’s a water hose at the top deck you can use to spray the sand off your feet before going into the cottage - very nice! * The kids loved the bunk room, reading nook, and day beds. * Plenty of beach chairs and water toys available; bring your tennis gear! * Can’t beat coffee and breakfast on the deck every morning with those views! We’re looking forward to another chance to stay here in the future!

Beautiful Week at Rockledge

Our family enjoyed our stay at Rockledge very much. We were able to enjoy all that the cottage had to offer, including the wonderful deck we spent our evenings on. The cottage is rustic but had everything you would need to enjoy your stay. We had plenty of towels, pots, pans and essentials. It's location to the beach can't be beat, we spent everyday making memories in the sand and surf. We would highly recommend to any family looking to get away from it all and enjoy the peace and serenity of the ocean waves.

Family of four, repeat renters

We've rented this cottage many times. It is a great cottage. It is located on the best part of Popham beach, with unobstructed views (and sounds) of the ocean from almost every window. It is equipped with everything you would really need, and it is very comfortable and private. The perfect spot for a family beach vacation.

Staying at the Rockledge house on Popham Beach was a wonderful experience. He house itself is magical, and the beach is in the front yard. It doesn’t get any better.

Can't beat the location!

We absolutely loved the location!, I learned to Striper fish and you can't beat the low tide experiences with the kids. If you are looking for the hustle and bustle of Old Orchard this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a peaceful experience with your family and the ocean then this is the place!

This is my family cottage where I spent every summer of my childhood. I live next door now in the summer. This is a traditional Maine "camp." Not luxurious but very cozy and great for a family with children. Reading nook under the eaves.
Fully equipped kitchen. Linens provided.

Spectacular views and access to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Undeveloped. The beach is flat and great for walking up to 3 miles, to islands at low tide, to a local restaurant, Fort Popham and Fort Baldwin.
Parking is limited to two cars.
The beach is often empty. Plenty of room for softball or football or soccer.

The only tennis court at Popham. The cottage was built by my father, room by room, into the side of Rockledge Hill. Lots of privacy, overlooking the ocean.
