I'm not a Gershwin fanatic, but I loved being An American in Paris! Venice, and in Lake Havasu! Atop the list of my best-days-ever are all those I've spent traveling; either abroad or here in the States. I've visited at least one place I've never been before, every year since 1992. Some years that's been with my husband & sons, sometimes with my parents & sisters and sometimes with dear friends, but ALWAYS in search of what's out there that's different! And... you know what?...They Can't Take That Away From Me!
Shelly purchased this House in 2012
Why Shelly chose Pella
'Pella' means 'City of Refuge' and visitors to The Bailey House will find exactly that; a calming, refreshing kind of solitude, set just off the bustle of the street. If it's Solice for the Soul you seek, choose from one of 25 churches inside the city limits. If it's retail therapy you need, explore the specialty shops that line the streets. There's a lake for watersports, river bluffs for nature hiking, and Bald Eagle sightings, bikes trails to bike, jog, walk or cross-country ski, a bowling alley, swimpark, movie theater, ethnic and American eateries; ALL inside walking distance or a 5 minute car ride. I'm born and raised a 'Pella-can' and Dorothy, there's no place like home!
What makes this House unique
The Bailey House, set just a few yards off the Pella town square, puts no less than four Dutch bakeries and meat markets within smelling distance! Visitors won't fight crowds or lines anywhere unless it's the annual Pella Tulip Time festival, in which case you're still in luck because The Bailey House's prime location provides free parking for the Volks Parades and centrally located between all the poffertjes, vetbollen and pork-chop-on-a-stick stands!
