About John Linn
We are a family of 3 from Birmingham, AL and like everyone, we love the beach! We share our condo with visitors at below market rates to help us pay the bills!
John Linn purchased this Condo in 2002
Why John Linn chose Gulf Shores
This area is tranquil and serene. It's a good place to go to the beach to relax but escape the crowds and drunk or rowdy students.
What makes this Condo unique
Gulf Shores Plantation is on Fort Morgan Road close to several restaurants, and also close enough to the amusements, restaurants, shopping and night life 'in town' that it is all easily accessible with a 10-15 minute drive, but far enough away that you can escape back to our family oriented resort with its wide sandy beaches, and unspoiled dunes and nature. Unlike what has resulted from the over-building and over-crowding 'in town' in 'Gulf Shores proper', Orange beach, and West beach. It's like the beach was when I was a kid. Just a great place where the kids are safe, there is no through-traffic, or 'girls/boys gone wild'.

Really enjoyed our stay...again!
This is the second year we have stayed at this condo. The owner is great to deal with and responds promptly to any questions. Location and views are perfect. Will be renting again!
We are always thrilled to hear such great reviews and comments.! Thank you so much for choosing us and please call on us again any time.
I’d stay there again.
A little older than other condos I’ve stayed in, but I’d stay there again. Very affordable for the location. Plenty of room on the beach.
We loved the condo. It was very clean and has an amazing view of the ocean. There are 7 pools on the property- 1 of which is indoor and great for when you need a break from the sun. Building has a laundromat and exercise room.
The condo is about 15 min from city of Gulf Shores. We liked the distance to avoid the crowds. There are a few local mini-groceries/liquor stores nearby, but Dollar General is 12 minutes away and Walmart 15 min, so stock up on your way out. There is a restaurant on site. We didn’t eat there but got several drinks (which were very good- orange/banana mimosa-yum) and the food smelled good.
The beach was minutes away and beautiful. White sand and even a few sea turtle nests. The property has bridge walks to the beach to protect the sand dunes and there are benches built into the side so you can sit and look out.
We really loved our stay and recommend the condo. Would recommend to bring your own pillows (these were thin) and to bring spices (salt, pepper, etc) and coffee/coffee filters as these were not part of the kitchen stocking.
Thank you so much for the review! It is so good to know you enjoyed your stay. Also it is always good to know things are Still going well this deep into the rental season! Always our pleasure. Please call on us any time!
Great Vacation Get Away!
Everything was great! We really enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend staying at this condo. The only thing I would advise is to bring your own pillows. Everything else was perfect. Best view in the building and resort and close to all the pools and actions.
Nice place if you like remote
This was a good place for a family vacation. About 15 minutes from Gulf Shores proper. No crowded at the beach really at all. Water was clearer than Atlantic Coast beaches. Sand was white, but soft and hard to take a cart on. Walkway through the dunes was nice.
Positives: Great view from balcony, right in beach, complex was nice with lots of pool options and a restaurant on site (we didn’t visit though). It was probably the cleanest VRBO properties we’ve stayed in. Elevators were fast and not usually crowded to get to and from 8th floor. Very reasonably priced for the size and amenities. Owner responded quickly to my questions.
Neutral: 15 min away from most activities other than the beach.
Negatives: Master bedroom mattress needs replacing. Very soft with no support. You don’t control your own AC, it’s radio controlled from elsewhere! Warnings about setting it too cold or it might freeze up and you’ll pay the bill. Hint: If your AC can’t cool below 70 without freezing up the AC needs maintenance or it is under sized and needs replacing, don’t blame the humidity of the beach! You couldn’t count on certain pools being open. One pool was really good, but closed 1/2 the time. Another with a kiddie pool was closed 3/4 of the time. Kind of a bummer for my youngest child. You have to pay $20 to park at the resort. When lI booked the the ad said you had to register with the resort. Kind of a surprise fee, I don’t like surprises like that. It was still a very reasonably priced place though.
Overall we liked the place and would come back, if we wanted the remote feel again. Owner was responsive and did what he could.
