About the property

Mountain Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 3), Spectacular Mountain Views.

"Our philosophy, indeed our purpose at Treetop Mountain Vista, is to eliminate the barriers that may keep us from fully enjoying the natural beauty that surrounds us".

Please do not leave this site without going to the "Owner information" and scrolling to the bottom of that area for "Guestbook comments from the owner". Here you will find nearly 500 entries made by guests over the years. These are personal comments that will warm your heart as well as give you plenty of ideas for your visit to our wonderful mountains. I frequently enjoy paging through these as if they were entries in a cabin diary. Which they are 💜 Thank you, Nancy

Known for its inspiring views, privacy and serene atmosphere, our cabin is the perfect getaway for the romantic at heart. Our Cozy and inviting home features a King Bed (stunning view can be seen from bed), Beautiful Wood Burning Stove, Reading Nook with a variety of books, Love Seat, and Flat Screen TV with a satellite program. Also a fully equipped kitchen to prepare your favorite meals, Hot Tub and gas grill on the totally private deck, which is partially covered for outdoor dining even in a gentle rain. If you time your trip right you may even witness a full moon coming up over the mountains and sailing across the sky! The bathroom provides a Ceramic Tile Walk In Shower, Old Amish Cabinet and a Copper Bowl Sink. Bonus room with a twin bed for that extra person adjoins the bathroom. We now have a fire pit with everything you need to enjoy a relaxing campfire. Just bring the marshmallows and hot dogs!

Our cabin, nestled within tall trees, abundant wildlife and stunning views, provides an authentic mountain experience of getting back to nature and a promise of being dazzled by the environment that surrounds you! **Note about the photo of the star filled sky: This was taken by a professional photographer who was staying here. If you photography buffs are interested in how he did this, here it is in his own words, and keep in mind it was taken in early April... [I noticed the stars from bed--very early in the morning--and found that the driveway gave me the best vantage point. I wasn't looking for a clear vantage point to the skies, since I really wanted the trees to provide some context and foreground interest. The two trees in the driveway were perfect. We don't get skies like that in North Jersey, where we only see a handful of stars. My camera was on a tripod, 15 second exposure with an f2 wide-angle lens. Time was about 1:45 minutes before sunrise.]

Despite the wonderful location, Treetop Mountain Vista is easily accessible with any kind of vehicle and is only a quarter mile from the main road. We are only minutes away from Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Mt. Pisgah, the Biltmore Estate and the Asheville Outlets Mall. Enjoy many varied activities as you explore white water rafting, kayaking, hiking, the Pisgah National Forest, fly fishing, hot air ballooning, mountain biking, climbing, community theater and the "Land of Waterfalls" in nearby Transylvania County. Take in Asheville for our world class restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, antique, vintage clothing and craft shops, parks, Pack Square, quirky tours and let's not forget the abundance of micro-breweries. Plenty of time for day trips?...check out the nearby mountain towns of Waynesville, Black Mountain, Brevard, Flat Rock and Chimney Rock. Or you may choose to bring your supplies, never leave the property and just enjoy relaxing or exploring the mountain behind the cabin. Many guests do just that!!! (Dogs especially love it because they can run off leash!)

Kick your imagination into high gear and continue your journey now by strolling through the hundreds of guest comments entered over the years, (find this in the "Owner Information" and scroll to the bottom of that section).

About Nancy

I grew up in Northern Wisconsin, surrounded by lush forests and an abundance of natural lakes, so I have a true appreciation of nature. In 1972 I moved to Florida to experience a different kind of life, lots of sun, warm weather and gorgeous beaches. But still I had a dream, and that was to live in the mountains and be able to walk out on my deck and enjoy an amazing view. I eventually moved to Western North Carolina and never looked back, because life in these mountains is everything I ever hoped it would be and more. When I moved into my cabin, which has an amazing mountain view without even having to get out of bed, I realized that dream. The first morning took my breath away as I opened my eyes and the first rays of sunlight hit Mt. Pisgah. Later I moved into a different location here in the area and it has been one of my greatest joys in life, to provide this remarkable experience for others. The cabin is located right outside of Asheville. I take a personal interest in seeing to it that everything is perfect for each new guest to arrive. Thank You, Nancy

Nancy purchased this cabin in 1999

Why Nancy chose Smoky Mountains

I have lived in the Asheville area now for 19 years. I find it to be one of the most wonderful and unique places imaginable. I wouldn't live anywhere else for anything. Something for everyone I always say! For nature lovers we have the Pisgah National Forest and the Smoky Mountains with unlimited hiking and bicycling trails, lots of waterfalls and one of the most diverse ecological areas in the world with over 100,000 species of plants and animals. Not only are the natural surroundings diverse but so are the people with their attendant cultural interests. And speaking of culture, Asheville is a haven for artisans with numerous galleries and festivals to show off their talents. If you love music, you've come to the right place. Not only do we have numerous concerts in the area all the time but we also have Friday night drumming during warmer months in Pritchard Park and Shindig on the Green in the summer, both free to the public. You will frequently hear a lone musician or a combo providing music in front of the cafes, Fine Arts Theater or Malaprops Bookstore. And speaking of downtown Asheville, it is impossible to walk down any street, anytime of day, any day of the week, any time of year and not find lots of people abuzz with activity. It is just a lively and invigorating town. And Asheville has some of the very best cafes and coffee houses you will find anywhere. Have I convinced you that I love it here? If so, or even if not, come and find out for yourself why Asheville is listed in numerous magazines and books as one of the top places to live or visit in the entire world!

What makes this cabin unique

Treetop Mountain Vista is a single cabin off to itself to provide longed for privacy. No one will bother you as you enjoy the hot tub for two high up on the deck. Part of the deck is covered for dining outside, which you can still enjoy even in a peaceful rain. The hot tub sits in the open so you can thoroughly enjoy the night sky. The comfy king bed provides a bird's-eye view of Mt. Pisgah as you awaken in the morning or just taking a breather anytime of the day. Everything is provided for your experience of rustic beauty with more than just a touch of luxury. The view from nearly every window is inspiring. You are right at Mt. Pisgah and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The cabin is surrounded by trees, and you'll be watching the view over the treetops(hence the name TREETOP MOUNTAIN VISTA). Behind the cabin is more mountain to explore. But right up highway 151 and the Blue Ridge Parkway are plenty of places to hike or ride your mountain bike. It's an exceptional location! Yet not at all far from Asheville, Waynesville, The Biltmore Estate, The North Carolina Arboretum and too much more to mention here.

Best Cabin Stay EVER!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed in a few cabins, but nothing compares to this one!!! Very nice and clean and fully stocked with anything you could possibly need! All the makings for campfires, the grill was super clean, herbs and spices and oils! They even had coffee!!! There was nice little informational notes about how to use all the devices around the cabin. The pool table was a very nice surprise!!! But the best thing above all else was the privacy!!! More times than I can count have we looked at places that claimed to be private, well this cabin is!!! It's at the very end of the drive and up on a little hill with a magnificent view of the mountains. Also, even though it's in a very private place it's still, believe it or not, only 15 minutes from grocery and fast food places. It's the best getaway my wife and I have had yet and 5 stars does NOT do it justice.

Great retreat for two

  • 5 of 5

My adult daughter and I recently visited for a few days for a girl's retreat. The cabin was just perfect. The decor was charming, with whimsical details. It was exceptionally clean, and was supplied with everything we needed. The view from the porch was wonderful! We especially enjoyed it when having morning breakfast, and while relaxing in the hot tub in the evening. We felt like we were in a secluded tree house, a real getaway! We had no cell service, but there was a landline and WiFi. We were close enough to Asheville to enjoy shopping, sightseeing ,and restaurants during the day. We also enjoyed one of the many hiking trails in the area. I think the highlight of the trip were the times spent together at the cabin. It exceeded our expectations! I only wish we could have stayed longer!

Charming tree-top hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Airy, light-filled and with a well-equipped kitchen. We particularly loved the views, and being able to dine outside on the deck. The Blue Ridge Parkway is nearby and was ideal for hiking. It must be particularly delightful in the Fall.

Owner's Response: Thank you for this lovely review! Actually fall is particularly delightful at the cabin and my very favorite time is early November when there is still plenty of color and the leaves falling like rain feels mystical. Best Wishes, Nancy

Perfect private retreat

This was everything I was hoping for our get-a-way! Views were amazing! Cabin was charming! The hot tub and pool table were icing on the cake! You're far enough away to feel alone, but close enough to enjoy local activities! Can't wait to go back!

Charming, secluded and beautiful

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here overnight in mid-July and are already hoping to come back soon. What a beautiful place! We loved the privacy and the many options we had of things to do. We didn't even get to all of it. The cabin is perfect for a couples getaway, and even works if traveling with kids. Our six month old slept in the second bedroom both nights and was very comfortable. Highly recommended, would give it six stars if I could!
