Our family stay at Retreats on Hudson – Driftwood this past weekend was perfect! We chose this Folly Beach property for its floor plans, price, and convenient location near restaurants. From the initial communication from the Luxury Simplified team through the check-out, we were able to comfortably relax in this well-appointed house. The location was amazing—just steps away from the beach and close to all the best local restaurants. The accommodation was first-rate, clean, and thoughtfully outfitted for comfort, privacy, and family. The amenities exceeded our expectations from an initial coffee stock to the well-equipped kitchen and the relaxing outdoor spaces. There was plenty of room indoors and outdoors for our group to gather, play card and board games, and enjoying meals and happy-hour together after a day on the run. We could not have asked for a better place to enjoy Folly Beach as a family, and we look forward to coming back. I highly recommend Retreats on Hudson – Driftwood property and the team from Luxury Simplified Retreats.

Great place for a big family!

Our family and children loved the house! Great location! Short (5 minute) walk to the beach, just a short 2 minute walk to downtown to local restaurants, shops and ice cream. The pool was the perfect size to hang out and let the kids play. Having a private pool at the house was a game changer with kids.

Folly Beach trip

A lovely beach house very close to the water and although it is near a lot of businesses and a couple of pubs - the house was insulated well and we slept very well. There were 9 of us and we had plenty of room. Walking distance to everything !

All aspects of this house were great. Location was excellent in regards to the beach, Center St bars and restaurants and quick off the island to get to the bigger grocery stores. Pool was perfect size for our family. Great stay

One of the Best Stays Ever

We all arrived after two days of snow and ice to a wonderful experience. The home had more than enough space for the entire family. The bedrooms were equipped with televisions in every room with streaming capabilities and the beds were very comfortable. The host stayed in constant contact and was able to answer each and every question promptly. We highly recommend this home and the host.

The property was in good condition. We really enjoyed the four en suite bed and bathrooms. The location is Soso. It sits right behind Folly‘s retail area. The beach is close. All in all it was was a good visit.

The home is large, the decks are splendid for relaxing, the pool is clean and at the perfect temperature, the proximity to the beach was close enough to walk, and we cooked with great amenities inside and out with the BBQ.

Perfect location whether it’s with family or friends

Great location with a surf town vibe. walking distance to everything. Restaurants, coffee shop, public beach, small grocery store, shops and more. No. Need for a car if you are staying local. House was clean just as seen in photos beautifully decorated with comfortable beds and tvs in every bedroom. Definitely will plan my next family vacation there even though I went with a group of friends. .

Great FRAMILY Vacation

In short - the location was just perfect, we could walk to everything. Plenty of parking space for 3 cars and a golf cart comfortably. The house has a perfect layout so you're not on top of each other. Having the pool on the main level was perfection - we've rented other homes that you had to walk down a sizeable flight of stairs to get to the pool area, and this was such a great perk! Kept everyone all together when it was time to socialize! Highly recommend, the concierge was amazing to deal with. Will definitely book here again.

Really fun location

The house is darling. Loved the location being downtown; close to everything. Bedrooms huge. Awesome bathrooms. Great beds. Kitchen stocked nicely. Great alley straight to the beach in literally minutes. Probably the only thing I didn't love was the alley behind the pool that got some foot traffic at night. And the trash trucks are loud in the morning with all the beer cans from the bar next door.

Pool was a great addition. Close to dt and beach. If you want the pool heated you have to ask. There were only 6 forks and no tea kettle. So we bought one and left it. And we saw a few cockroaches. But that the south.

Family Vacation

This property is awesome for an older family vacation. It is located right in the center of Folly Beach with easy access to the bars, restaurants, and beach. The property is beautiful and the pool was essential for the humidity during August. Our one gripe was the check in process. We asked for an early check in and it was not available. We totally understand that early check in is not always available. No email was sent to us during the day of the check in explaining the check in process and we didn’t actually receive any information until 4:30pm 1/2 hour past the normal check in. We feel the interaction with the property manager could have been better on the first day. All in all still a great find and would recommend

5-Star Potential

Hannah was super-responsive … but many of the items we inquired about should have been handled prior to our check-in: correct number of beach towels, full set of sheets for pull-out couch, disassembled fire alarm needed to be put back, dishwasher tipped when the bottom rack was pulled out, cupboard had some dirty plates, gutters were over-flowing (we cleaned those over the pool!), broken bottle glass on the driveway where the dog went out, one of the showers didn’t have hot water, fitted sheets were no longer "fitted" and didn't stay in place … loose door-handles noted last fall are still loose. It seems that between utilizing a check-list for amenities and communicating with their cleaning team that most of these should have been caught by them and not us. The house was clean … I took off one star for maintenance issues; seems that there were too many issues for the beginning of a season. We utilize VRBO frequently and this was one of the worst in terms of maintenance considering the price point. The lengthy list of "rules" was off-putting and gave a false sense that they were more organized in their commitments. The location of the property is indeed great, but it creates a terrible view off the side porch. Would benefit by putting up a fence a few feet taller. There is a lot of music going on in the surrounding neighborhood but it didn’t bother us; none of the music could be heard from the inside. Pool was great – we used it throughout the day, every day! Check-in process was confusing … one note said they would meet us there, another note said they would give us the log-in to the key-pad at exactly 4pm at the time of check-in … communication was not aligned between the emails and text messages. The cleaning person was still there when we checked in at 4pm, which wasn’t a big deal, except that she was rushed and potentially that’s why not everything was done. Everyone we encountered from the property company & maintenance personnel were super nice.
