This was absolutely perfect for my wedding weekend! We were getting married at a venue about 20-30 minutes away from the cabin and was able to sleep all of our wedding party and their spouses/significant others comfortably, including 4 bridesmaids who are pregnant! We were able to gather and celebrate in such a beautiful place with a beautiful view. We cannot recommend this place enough!
Our girls team had a wonderful stay here! Loved the view, the accommodations, and everything was perfect! Owners were super responsive and very helpful, even late at night one night when we needed help. Would love to stay again sometime!

Thank you again for choosing The Treetop Terrace! We hope you return soon!
The Women’s Wine Hiking Society of NC group did a weekend stay and chose this cabin for our location. Everything was as stated and we had an excellent trip. We especially loved having a large enough table for all of us to gather for our meal! The views were amazing! We loved that it was close to West Jefferson and Old Barn Winery.
Easily the best view on the mountain in the state. The Large house and was perfect for our family of 14 gathering for a wedding. Plenty of space, rooms and bathrooms and amenities galore.
We decided to take our Youth Group on a Fall Retreat and found this location online. The mentors and students loved the cabin and all the amenities. This is the first time we decided to rent a cabin vs going to another facility and it did not disappoint! The students loved it so much they want to go again in the future. The property owners were very responsive to all questions and accommodating to our needs. Highly recommend if you're looking for a place to get away!
The view from the deck was spectacular and perfect for coffee in the morning and a drink in the evening. We hosted a wedding party of 18 in the cabin and it fit us all nicely. The kitchen is open and great for meal prep and serving and the rest of the rooms are spread out so everyone can find a space to hangout. The game room and hot tub were a great addition. The driveway is a little steep but the well-lit entrance off the main road made it easily navigable. The host was kind and very responsive.
View and views and more views with plenty of room!
We stayed at Bear Feet Retreat for my husband's Birthday this past weekend! We have a very large family with my husbands brother and sisters. They all brought their spouses and kids and we also had mom with us! We were a house full but we had plenty of space and never felt crowded! Everyone had a comfy place to lay their head at night. My husband and I come to the West Jefferson area often and always like to have a good mountain view. I can say this view beat any rental we have stayed in before. We started out the day with a sunrise view of the mountains from the hot tub and ended it with the adults having a drink on the beautiful deck. We sang kareoke in the large kitchen and even had a dance party for the kids. There ws plenty of space for everyone to eat and gather. We were beyond pleased and I could go on forever with all of the wonderful amenities. Also the owners were responsive through the VRBO app whenever I had a question.
Thank you for helping our family make lasting memories!

Ladies Outing
Was not prepared for a restroom not to be accessible upstairs to the sleeping loft. Older ladies did not feel comfortable navigating stairs in the middle of the night.
We had to leave and go purchase toilet paper and paper towels. There also not any dishcloths for the kitchen area. It was difficult to manage three days with one towel per person and no place to hang towels to dry. I would suggest more bath towels on hand for guest staying more than a day.
Cabin was spacious and view breathtaking. However, parking and turning around was a difficult task with several vehicles with as many guest we had. It was hard to miss the cabin signage on the right of the drive while managing a very sharp turn when backing out. I recommend giving more images of drive/parking for guest to judge before making a reservation. We managed but it was not east.
We would rent again and reduce out guest count by three so everyone could have middle of the night access to a restroom. Additional sleeping loft is not do'able for our situation and age of guests.
Our family came together at this fantastic location for a mini family reunion. From young children, to teenagers, to grandparents, and all those in between, everyone loved it. It was especially nice to have separate sleeping areas on 3 separate floors. The kitchen was huge and perfect for our large family. It was nice to have a large dining table so we could all eat together. We enjoyed using the grill as well. The kids and teenagers especially enjoyed the game room. It was refreshing to have the hot tub to relax in after a long day of riding bikes on the Virginia Creeper Trail. Memories made around the fire pit. And the views..... oh the views, breathtaking! The ride up to the house was incredible, with scenic mountains and Christmas tree farms. But the view from the house itself was picturesque. I think the best compliment I can express is that no one wanted to be on electronics. The house was accommodating for time together as a large family, yet there were enough separate areas that we could break away if needed. It was so peaceful and quiet outside. Many of us found ourselves getting up early just to enjoy a cup of coffee with those amazing views and peace. We felt removed from chaos, yet stores and activities were within a short distance. We had a small issue with the upstairs shower leaking into the master closet, but overall, an incredible experience! Would 100% stay here again and recommend to anyone!

Wet and wet
We had torrential rain during our stay. We are from the coast and are very familiar with wind driven rain during a hurricane. I gave the homeowner the benefit of the doubt that he certainly had no control over the leaks until the next morning when we went outside and saw all of the patchwork repairs and wood rot on the outside of the house. Rain was leaking in over five places in the home. Downstairs through the ceiling, through the window, upstairs through the walls dripping over the light switches and puddling on the floor. Contacted homeowner and he sent someone out to try to fix the problem. The problem was beyond what he could fix. One of our suitcases was filled with water, we spent our time on Friday putting dry towels in windows trying to safe the property-only then we had to wash/dry towels to have towels to use. He offered us an early checkout on Saturday but that was the only day we were able to enjoy the outside, he refunded the cleaning deposit, had a dehumidifier delivered but no compensation for our time spent trying to save the interior of the home. Never again!

Thank you so much for pointing out that the mountains were experiencing wind driven sideways rain. Coastal homes are made for that but log cabins are not. Thank you also for letting our future guests know that we acted fast and sent maintenance and cleaning crews immediately for the leak we had. Thank you again for pointing out that we also bought a brand new humidifier and refunded your entire cleaning fee since you were demanding compensation threatening us with a review “we won’t want to read.” We had just went through hurricane Ian with absolutely no leaks but the tropical storm sideways rain for a long period of time was a lot for the cabin to handle. Unfortunately many homes in Ashe county had the same issue including one of our other properties… only that guest still had an amazing time, left us a 5 star review and didn’t let a little leak ruin their stay. We have already had several happy guests since your stay. We have been host for many years and have hundreds of reviews on our many platforms and never ever had a 2 star review. I think others can discern for themselves.
This was a beautiful property, spacious and very clean! It was the perfect place to have a family gathering to celebrate Thanksgiving with plenty of things to do in the cabin. Hot tub, pool table, ping pong table and many different board games! The fire place outside the cabin has a beautiful view of the mountains and perfect set up for having a cozy fire. I hope it stay again in the future!
We had a great time at the cabin. We took a group of 13 girl scouts. We enjoyed the views, game room, and hot tub. The owner was very helpful when I had to contact them. A great place to stay. Wish we could have stayed longer!
We loved our stay at Bear Feet Retreat! It is a lovely property with amazing views. It is secluded but only a 10 minute drive into town for a small town vibe that include restaurant/breweries. We would definitely recommend it!
I took 15 App State students here for a 3-day training retreat. Monica and John are wonderful owners. They allowed me to do two walk-thru's: two months and then a few days prior to our stay.
The house has everything that's listed. The students loved the fire pit and outdoor hot tub. The layout was perfect for our needs. Sorry, John, but I think we beat your Galaga high score.
I have no criticisms, but I do have a few suggestions. Fifteen college students for 3 nights requires a few things. For large groups, stock up on a more toilet paper. I had brought an additional 10 rolls and that did the trick. Make sure the house cleaners leave dish soap and trash bags. Perhaps create a check list. I twice had to run out for basic supplies.
Monica and Joh have not had the house long. I suggest gradually adding more kitchen supplies. I brought my own blender and extra cooking and and tools; they came in handy. Again, these things take time to build. Some of the kitchen cooking supplies used for mixing are made from synthetic materials. They bend and that makes it tough for stirring pasta in the pot when cooking for 15 people. Perhaps get more wood and/or metal cooking tools.
Our overall our experience was 100% positive. It's a charming home and I expect to return with my students next year.
Thank you for a lovely time. The location was perfect!

We are so disappointed that Bonnie chose to leave us a 3star review. We went over and beyond to make sure ALL her requests were met and her MANY questions were answered. She asked for early check in, 4 hours early, which we granted free of charge. She requested extra towels for her whole group, which we granted, free of charge. We actually personally went to the cabin the day of her arrival to make sure everything was perfect because she had asked so many questions and hadcomplained about a previous beach trip her group did. The day of her departure she told us “the girls loved it”. No complaints but still left us a 3 star review. Hopefully she will be more graceful with future hosts.
