LOVE THE TRADEWINDS ISLAND GRAND

Issue with reservation but great property

We cut our stay short and just got a hotel room at the same property as the vrbo was not able to accommodate all the nights we reserved, which was stressful. We found out the day before we were supposed to check in, which left us scrambling.

There were four units at this hotel That were available at the time I was booking. It would’ve been nice to know More about the individual unit, what floor the unit was on, if it was handicapped accessible, and if it had a balcony

Great family vacation. ALL the staff was extremely friendly! Very well run. Children and adults will not be board. Make sure to download their APP to see activities offered and food options. All food and drinks were delicious. Love that you get a free beach cabana per room a little extra for an additional one. This place is VERY old and is in the process of getting remodeled. None of that disturbed our vacation. Live music was great a little too loud for all of us but still enjoyable. Payed for jet ski rental and parasailing which my son in law and teenager son really enjoyed. You can tell management cares about the staff since they all are so happy. Really enjoyed the two hot tubs at the end of the night. Rum Fish grill was delicious. S’mores at night for children with live music was such a great vibe. Lively resort for all ages. The pool entertainment for the children and adults in the day was fantastic and people had so much fun. I have paid a lot of $ at resorts but you can’t find this kind of magically run staff anywhere but here or Disney. Once it’s updated it’s going to be stunning in the meantime enjoy what this place offers. I do not recommend booking this resort through a VERBO on this site like I did. The owners are breaking their contract by renting it to anyone other than family or friends. After talking to staff through TradeWinds vacation rentals I was very worried they would turn us away once checking in which they have done to others

Fantastic & Great place.. DISASTROUS communication.RRP & VRBO.. READ ALL THE COMMENTS!!

Excellent services at this facility! Very clean & friendly. The hotel staff was superb! Disastrous time with the on line communication with VRBO & the management company Rental Resort Pros (RRP) .Not sure if I was scammed until the very last minute to check in! Many emails sent between RRP & VRBO with NO response! Finally a VRBO rep was able to somewhat assist us & still no guarantee we had a place to stay for our vacation! I did receive a "case number" from VRBO for reference. Then saw that case was closed before we arrived! VERY disappointed in VRBO renting to an "unreliable owner" who ghosted us & everyone else. Personally, I've been using VRBO services for over 40 years & never had this situation. Would personally like to discuss this situation with VRBO in future. I NEVER EVER want this undue stress in my life again!! I should have read the comments! I was one of the "lucky" ones who actually had a room.. only to move to another room 2 days after my vacation started! Why?? no one understands. Maybe RRP does- or the "GHOST OWNER". The actual hotel at TRADEWINDS was very understanding & so patient & friendly. Next time.. TRADEWINDS will get my money- NOT RRP (if this a real company!) I checked the website of RRP.. one big red X and then it was off the internet! WATCH OUT>>> BE CAREFUL!!! DON'T DO IT!!!!!

The resort is all about kids. There is no beach or pool side service for drinks so plan ahead. We did see some people bring small coolers onto the beach so they could enjoy the day without having to move up and down. We were in the owners building, Breckenridge because of booking through VRBO so that I thought was a plus. However, we booked an ocean view and 2 days before our arrival, we were told that they wouldn’t be able to give us an ocean view so we would have to be moved to a boulevard view with a 25% refund. The boulevard view was the rooftop of the building which was NOT pretty at all. However, you’re hardly in your room so we just dealt with it. The way this works is that the owners are selling their time but this company can only book 48 hours prior to check in so in reality, you’re getting what’s available. That is what it at least seemed like to me. Upon check in, they will try to get you to sit through a 90 minute tour and “vacation club” presentation and offer you free stuff and the lady was pretty pushy but I told her that I would discuss it and we would call her if we decide. So just be aware of that. The resort is nice. Beach is huge. Pools are not that big for the number of people but it seemed to work. Adult pool is nice and relaxing. Live music on some nights. We liked Island Grand and our kids thoroughly enjoyed it. We did walk over to Rumfish but it seems like everything happens at Island Grand. I will recommend taking the “Freebie” (app that gives you a free ride on a golf cart….like Uber) down to Pass A Grille and taking the shuttle to Shell Key Island. Totally worth it! Pack some snacks or lunch and spend the day in Pass A Grille and She’ll Key! Paradise Grill on Pass A Grille beach has great food! Gorgeous and calm beach and very quaint! Shell Key is a reserve and super awesome. My daughter and I found 9 total sand dollars!!! Overall, everyone enjoyed Island Grand and St. Pete’s Beach!

One day before I was to check in I received a text from resort pros telling me that the gulf front room I had reserved and paid for was not available.the reason given was that they could not communicate with the owner. He stated that there was nothing he could do and I had to settle for a parking lot view. He also offered 10% refund. The money does not matter I wanted the view for my anniversary. He would not let me talk to anyone else and said I had to accept his offer. At this point I could not find anywhere else to stay so to keep from not having anything I took offer, he did call back and offered 25% off after an afternoon of arguing while driving to Tampa. The money was not what I wanted and he seemed to think that that was all that mattered. I have used VIBO many times but will not again!

Resort Rental Pros is TERRIBLE!!

After overlooking us and having to downgrade our condo, then not reserving the last night of my reservation, I spent the first 3 days of my vacation trying to communicate with them and the front desk to make sure I had a room for my last night. I was told by Resort Rental Pros that I would receive an email showing the 25% refund i would be receiving for the room, and have not received that, nor my 25% refund. I will certainly never book through them again. The actual property was nice and the front desk staff was accommodating. The managers were not as efficient, as they told me for 3 days that someone would call me and nobody ever did.

The hotel was very nice. I went to a couple other hotels on the strip and this one was more updated and cleaner. Also a more relaxing atmosphere. Not super partying like some of the other hotels on the beach. I would definitely recommend staying here. They have a lot of cool amentities.

Beautiful resort! Lots of stuff to do without leaving the property. This is a special needs friendly resort which we didn’t know until we got there. If you have a child that elopes, mention it to them at the front desk. We received a kit with a door alarm and temporary tattoos. We will definitely be back!
