Come unwind in our Northwoods Getaway, a luxurious 3500 square foot log cabin nestled in a grove of whispering pines and white birch. The beautiful Minong Flowage is only steps away from your front door, just waiting for you to enjoy its great fishing (noted for its northern, walleye, bass, and pan fish) boating, water recreation and beautiful sunsets seen from either deck overlooking the shoreline.

The Totagatic Lodge is also perfectly located, within a half-hour from three casinos, ten golf courses, nearby rivers for tubing, canoing and kayaking, cross country skiing, horseback riding, go-carts, and great opportunities for day trips to Hayward, Cable, Spooner, Shell Lake, Couderay, and Duluth, Minnesota just to name a few.

In addition, the Totagatic Lodge provides a canoe, a 14ft Lund fishing boat with oars and a paddle boat, all included with the rental fee. About Norma Peterson

Hi, my name is Bruce Peterson. My wife, Norma, my sister, Renae and her husband Mark, and our 9 children altogether, bought the Totagatic Lodge in 1999! Unfortunetely, our dear brother-in-law passed in 2000 and it was decided to rent out the Totagatic Lodge to other families during the times we were not able to be there. We love being able to share this wonderful vacation retreat.

Norma Peterson purchased this cabin in 1999

Why Norma Peterson chose Northwest

We chose the Totagatic Lodge first, because of the area. We are just far enough away from downtown Hayward to enjoy the beauty of the lake and surrounding woods with out too much hustle and bustle and traffic. The Totagatic Lodge is beautiful inside and out and we enjoy the privacy on a large lot with beautiful lake shore. The Minong Flowage is one of the larger lakes in the area with small "Canadian like" islands dotting the lake, that are sandy and great to shore up to for a swim. The fishing is good, both summer and winter. Great snowmobile trails surround the area. There are also, several places on the lake you can boat to for food or refreshments.

What makes this cabin unique

The Totagatic Lodge offers privacy. A large lot with wooded borders. But yet, we are 25 minutes from downtown Hayward, an hour from Duluth, minutes to many great golf courses and so much more. We love the spaciousness of the Totagatic Lodge. There is plenty of room for the whole family to be together in comfort whether in the great room, kitchen and dining area or on the large deck. The Minong Flowage offers a bigger lake for boating, fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking, and water sports, in the summer. We enjoy ice fishing, boot hockey, snowmobiling and cross country skiing, in the winter. We love it and think you will feel the same after staying at the Totagatic Lodge!

Great family vacation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Totagatic Lodge for a week in June. We had 13 people and we were very comfortable. The Lodge is modern, clean, spacious, well appointed and it has gorgeous views. The sunsets were a highlight of our trip. Owners are kind and accommodating. Fun day trips nearby. Just an all around great place to take an extended family on vacation. Thanks for the lovely week! Highly recommended!!!

Fantastic vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our entire family and extended family went to the Totagatic Lodge for a week in August. We had 12 people and the accommodations were perfect. From the view from the balcony, amenities in the lodge, pontoon, lake, restaurants/bars on the lake, scenery, etc., it was an amazing trip. We would definitely go back and highly recommend the Totagatic Lodge to families or groups that want to get away to a wonderful and welcoming place.

Family paradise

  • 5 of 5

This place was fantastic, to our cabin home to the lake water. Everything was as expected if not more. Kids loved swimming off the dock and the pontoon rides around the flowage and especially docking at the island beach. We fished with not the greatest luck, but still fun. We utilized the kayaks, the canoe, and most of all the pontoon and fire ring outside. Inside the pool table was used daily, along with the screen porch and fooseball table. Can't say enough of this place and it's location, beauty in the sunsets and the woods. Brother in- laws also where fortunate enough to see a black bear cub run across the road. I recommend this place.

Fall color Book club getaway

Thank you, We had a great time! The cabin is a home, it has everything you could want. Beautiful view of the lake from the floor to ceiling windows and vaulted loft family room. Very spacious and well appointed. More than one sitting area if you felt like getting away from the group to read or rest. Large kitchen with large island and dining table, easy to prepare meals and gather. Travelled with 8 women and we each had out own bed, which was ideal. We drove over to stone lake for the Cranberry Festival with about 20,000 other people ;-), but it was a fun afternoon. Listened to the Loons at night and good trails for walking during the day. Easy drive from the cities. Owner Norma was responsive and helpful answering all our questions prior to arriving. Would recommend, and hope to return to enjoy in the summer.

Great Place for a Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time at Totagatic Lodge!!! It is the perfect place for a 6 person - 12 person group. The view of the lake is absolutely stunning! The beds were comfortable, the flow of the living room to patio is perfect, and the Rave trampoline and pontoon are a blast. There is one or two bald eagle families on the lake, which we saw daily. If you're planning to rent the pontoon, there are a couple of bars and/or restaurants on the lake to boat over to (be forewarned - they are not always open on Monday and Tuesday. I learned the hard way). The owners are very nice, accommodating, and easy to work with. I would recommend the place to anyone, and will hopefully be back next year!

We had a great week! Thanks!

  • 5 of 5

These owners were kind enough to let us sleep 17 in their lodge. With futons and sofa sleepers, we were fine...although one more bathroom would have been nice! ;) We loved the huge kitchen/dining area where we could all be seated at once...a huge plus. We also loved the pontoon boat. We fished from it, took sunset cruises, pulled kids on tubes, and took swimmers out to the "Sandy Island"...a beautiful boat. Great trips each day, lots of fishing (caught large panfish...and plenty of them), whiffle ball in the backyard, plenty of space for us all around the campfire pit, Rave water trampoline was a blast for all kids, and we really appreciated the canoe, 2 kayaks, and paddle boat...used them all a lot. The lake is beautiful: bald eagles, loons calling, and the sunset each night is to die for...a perfect location! There was hardly any traffic on the lake during the week. One family with the smaller kids took a trip into Hayward for the petting zoo and liked it very much. The dads golfed at the Big Fish Golf Club (a Pete Dye design...very nice)...great deal for golf on Tuesdays and Wednesdays all summer. Can't say enough about the deck space too...easy to seat a dozen comfortably for that tremendous view. You have to go to Pogo's Restaurant and Bar...great pizza! Finally, the owners were super...always checking in, answering our needs, giving us hints. This is a gorgeous home that you should visit! Thanks for a great family get together!
