Looking for a beautiful, private, lakefront cabin with walkout basement to relax in the beautiful outdoors of N Wisconsin? Our family built and has enjoyed our family cabin, on beautiful Leader Lake, since 1975, and now we would like to share it with you! Located in Wascott, WI, just 45 minutes from Duluth, MN and a two and a half hour drive from the twin cities, our cabin is the perfect place for families or a couples retreat, to enjoy your year round vacation.

We absolutely loved our Labor Day weekend at this cabin. This was a perfect, quiet getaway for ourselves & two young kids. The view is beautiful, lake is quiet & cabin had everything we needed & more. We were also near restaurants, coffee shop & convenience stores. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful quiet lake. Easy access to waterfront. The only issues I had were having trouble finding the key box outside and having to walk downstairs to the bathroom. We enjoyed our stay and would go back.

We had a great time at the lake house. The kids couldn't get enough of the lake and all the activities that came with it. The cabin was very clean. The kitchen was stocked with all the utensils and gadgets you would need to cook. They also had fishing poles and sand toys to use. Pack some DVDs. They had about a dozen to choose from there. The Wi-Fi can be hit or miss. But we were outside too much to notice.

Still Wonderful!

This was our second year staying at Leader Lake and everything is just as we remember- outstanding! (see our reivew July 2024). We spent nearly all our time in and on the lake. It is great for swimming and paddling and very clean (so is the cabin). Everything is private and tranquil: the cabin, the yard and lakefront. The area is very friendly and enjoyable. A true Northwoods lake and a very positive experience had by three generations. Great hosts! Highly recommend

Fun and beautiful!

This nice cabin is set back in a very quiet, relaxing, and peaceful community of cabins. The host was very kind and even gave recommendations on things to do near by in the surrounding area. Loons were present which was enjoyed by all. We spent so much time down in the water, a few of us got a little more sun than we could handle- sign of a lot of fun and relaxing on the lake!

Let us check in as soon as we arrived had our key ready for us place was super clean the dock was super nice by the water the paddle boat and boogie board and kayaks where super fun and great hosts

2 lakes and Loons!

It was the perfect place for old camp cabin mates to share time together. Amenities were great. One bathroom so you need to plan a little… location was so great!!

Wonderful!

What an excellent vacation! Were looking for a quiet, sandy lake with a gradual depth for our 5 year old to enjoy, but one where adults could enjoy swimming as well. We wanted to do a lot of kayaking, stand up paddle boarding too. This place is as described and we enjoyed it to the fullest. The lake is very clean, as is the cabin, which had everything we needed. We really enjoyed grilling and having dinner on the deck outside overlooking the lake and watching the bald eagle fly by. We normally pick a new cabin and lake every summer, but think this one will see us return next year. Highly recommend!

Peaceful getaway

This cabin was a beautiful relaxing getaway for our family. We had 4 kids with us from ages 12-2 and all enjoyed the lake in different ways. Our 2 year old loved playing in the sand and the older kids loved to swim and use the many kayaks, canoes and paddleboat. The lake is a great size that we could keep an eye on them but still plenty of room to explore. Very peaceful and neighbors on the lake were very friendly. The cabin is very clean and Tim is a wonderful host and very responsive on questions. The cabin itself has a beautiful story and we loved staying there!

peaceful stay

I am not sure I would have stayed here after reading the 2 star review from a few days ago, however, I am glad we did! Just to be clear there is a handrail on the stars. There was a exterminator there when we arrived, saw only 2 ants during the 7 days. The place was very clean, even given that the yard is very sandy. Grill lite with the long nose lighter very easily and it too was clean and had grill tools to keep it that way after you use it. Beds were a bit soft, but this a log cabin in the north woods not a Hilton. Plenty of boats to play with. Fishing was hit or miss, but then again, I didn't spend a ton of time checking out the whole lake. It was nice to have 2 separate areas to watch TV. Saw deer in the yard almost every night. Would return.

Never here again

1. No rails on stairs to basement. He claimed there was one when another consumer questioned this. Legally, get rails. Wife hurt arm slipping when no rail. 2. Claimed King, queen and double. NOT! Queen in very tight room, double and an old fashioned large twin. Not fit for 2 adults. 3. Basement smelled horrible! We all coughed and choked when down there. One Bedroom was down there. Moist and was there mold? 4. So dirty! Rugs were filthy!!!! Not vaccummed recently. Had to sweep all the floors and stairs upon arrival. Horrible dirty! 5. New grill??. NOT! 2 of 4 burner ignitions worked. Very rusty! Hot and cold spots. We know how to light grill, he dismissed previous complaint person not know how. We know how. Insulting! Your grill was horrible. 5.Take your trash with you? What? In 25 years have never had this. We drove several hours with stinky garbage in car. Also had to make room for it in car. DISGUSTING! 6. Maybe take care of HUGE black ants that were all over the the cabin floor.

Beautiful Lake and canin

We truly enjoyed our stay! It was perfect for our family of six. The lake was great for swimming and fishing and we really enjoyed using the paddle boards and kayaks. The cabin was very cozy and clean. We also enjoyed our campfires! Perfect little get away! What a blessing, thanks!

Leader Lake visit

The lake and beach is beautiful. Our grandkids visited for 4 days and they spent hours playing around in the sand. Grand kids were able to see the numerous deer in the neighborhood. The cottage itself was well supplied. The drawback to the cottage is having the bathroom in the basement. There is no handrail on the basement steps, which makes traveling to the basement a bit of a safety issue. Overall though it is a very nice cottage in a good location

Lake Life

Beautiful location. Very relaxing being steps from the lake. Loved taking the kayaks and paddle boards out. Lots of wildlife: turkeys, cranes, deer, even saw a black bear cub. Husband took the canoe out and caught a few fish. Checked out a few State Parks in surrounding areas with amazing waterfalls! Cabin was comfortable for accommodating 6 adults. Most amenities were provided. Make sure to pack beach towels as they are not provided and also measuring cups, if cooking. Although we checked the electrical panel, we were unable to get the electrical outlets working in the bathroom. Did not call owner, we just moved mirror to another room with working outlet. Great, relaxing, getaway!

Cabin stay

The property is very well kept, clean, and well stocked. Our group of three adults and four young children had a wonderful time, playing with the many boats/water crafts available. The beach and dock were great. The little one had played with sand toys, and the older ones splashed and swam for hours. The property is close to a fun restaurant, and we enjoyed their walleye fish fry. A gas station/general store was convenient for misc supplies. There were a variety of futons and beds available, and we used them all. The adults bought two day fishing licenses and the older children had a ball catching and releasing blue gills, caught off one of the canoes. We bought some box fans to keep the upper bedrooms cool enough at night, but the basement has nice ceiling fans. It was a wonderful family time and we are thankful for the lovely venue and grateful to the host, who was very attentive and helpful. Thank you again, Tim!

For a Great Family Vacation, Follow the Leader (lake)

The Cabin was everything and more than was promised, there were more accessories included with the cabin than we had time in the week to use. The Setup was great and provided us with all the comforts we could have asked for. We will definitely try this Cabin again!!

Great Cabin, Great Lake

My family had a great time at this cabin. Cabin was clean and had space for everyone to be comfortable. A very quiet lake, there are many different boats to use on the water, 2 person kayak was excellent with our 5 yr old. My kids caught a lot of fish right off the dock. Owner was very responsive with questions that came up. Overall a great vacation. A few more bathroom towel hooks and some empty cabinet space in the kitchen would be a nice convenience.

A perfect family getaway!!

This property could not have been better for our family. The cabin is in a beautiful, quiet wooded area and has excellent privacy. The cabin was clean and in excellent condition and had all the supplies we needed. The deck is large and has multiple tables and chairs and a brand new gas grill. The cabin has steps down to the lake which is beautiful. The water is clear and the bottom is sand which makes for excellent swimming. Traffic on the lake was minimal so it was very quiet and relaxing. We got a ton of fish including northerns, crappies, largemouth bass, perch and blue gill. One of the best things about the cabin is the selection of watercraft. There were approximately ten craft to use including single kayaks, double kayaks, a peddle boat, two paddle boards, a canoe, etc. There are also a ton of paddles and life jackets to use. The firepit is also amazing and we enjoyed many nights there. It overlooks the lake and there was plenty of firewood for us to use. The cabin is near a small town with a nice grocery store and only an hour from Duluth which is a nice day trip. All in all this is a fantastic property and probably the best VRBO I have ever stayed at. The owner is also incredibly nice and very responsive. If you are looking for a quiet family retreat in a beautiful setting, this cabin is for you.

4th of July Stay

Great property. We were fortunate to get such great lake access on Fourth of July weekend. The cabin and property you were exactly as stated in the listing. Clean, home and kitchen, conveniences, and greet water toys that we use every one of them. And, my son caught a 20+ inch walleye off a rowboat.
