Lovely Stay in a Wonderful Location
A five minute walk from a picturesque beach and harbour, this home may look small from the outside but contains large rooms furnished with comfort in mind. Light and bright, the home features a good bathroom and bedrooms upstairs overlooking the golf course and mountains. With £20 spent on basic utensils such as toilet brushes, knives and a cheese grater, this would be the perfect holiday home for any family.
Nice house in good location on the Marina
The property is a pleasant two-bedroom house in the Marina area of Conwy; about 2 minutes to the boats and about 15 minutes walk to the historic centre of Conwy. There are nice views from the front of the house towards Conwy Mountain, whereas the patio unfortunately faces the blank wall of the neighbouring house.
The house is nicely and tastefully furnished, but it just has a somewhat unloved air. There are a few blown lights in the back bedroom and a broken window handle in the front bedroom which could easily be fixed (the broken window handle also means that you cannot shut out the buzz from the A55). The house was reasonably clean, but there was no toilet paper in the bathroom, some trash (from previous visitors?) in the kitchen bin, the fridge could have done with a wipe-down, and the heating / hot water controller was not set to the correct time. Nothing major, for sure, but why not fix it?
Getting in touch with the owner was not easy at first, as either an email had got lost or not been sent until I got in touch with the Home Away customer service two days before our arrival. Once I had received the owner's mobile number, we communicated by text messages, which worked fine. The "App" which Home Away pushes you to download was useless for this property, so just give it a miss, and the Customer Service, while friendly on the whole, is a clunky affair.
Beautiful setting, great little cottage.
After staying at a horrible little cottage in Dartmouth, we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived in Conwy. This lovely little chateau, just a few short steps from the beach, are exactly what we needed. The home was clean and well equipped. We felt at home right away. Conwy is a lovely place which only enhanced our stay. I have nothing bad to say and we were completely satisfied with our accommodation. Anyone who stays should take the time to walk to the top of Mt Conwy to enjoy the beautiful views, wild horses, and the remains of a Bronze Age stone fort at the summit.
A broken, dirty house !
We arrived at the property and the front door was broken ! We called Karen straight away who came round and said the property management company were aware of this. (Not our problem!) She was friendly and said she'd get them to fix the door asap, as well as the French windows out to the (unkept / broken garden furniture) yard which she couldn't open. Karen contacted us to say the doors would be fixed Thurs (we were leaving Friday!) and she came and taped up the door herself (not adequate!). Thursday came and the property management company didn't... so we had a broken front and back door the whole of our 4 night stay. The knob to the lock on the front door also fell off ! I've never stayed anywhere where so much was broken- both toilet seats, the latch on the bedroom window, the majority of ceiling spotlights, the side table handle etc. The place was also filthy - the master bed old and yellow, with only a thin sheet and no base layer - ew! It clearly hadn't been cleaned properly in months. There was no bath mat or bin in the bathroom and the kitchen was very poorly equipped - no peeler, bread knife, table mats. I couldn't wait to leave and it really spoilt our Easter break. Karen, sack your property management company and take ownership for their poor services - it reflects badly on you. To top it all my 5 year old got locked in the downstairs loo as the lock's so stiff!
Excellent base for exploring North Wales
The cottage is very easy to find and superbly located a minute off the A55. The facilities within the cottage are fine well equipped kitchen, could do with some table mats and coasters as it's such a nice dining table. The front door window clearly needs repair over the winter but it didn't present any problems for us. The marina and views of Deganwy and the Great Orme is seconds away. The bed in the back bedroom is very low down which again didn't bother me but was a bit tricky for my husband. A small wardrobe or chest of draws in the front room would be of benefit if you were staying for a whole week. Conwy was lovely with all the facilities you need. Also Penryhn Castle (National Trust) is a fabulously intact castle with plenty to do for the kids.
