Rental Info:
Booking calendar: 12 month in advance (e.g. you cannot book Aug 2025 if current date is June 2024).
Summer rentals are weekly FRIDAY to FRIDAY (required 7 nights). We have loved this option when vacationing ourselves - less traffic and a full weekend back at home after/before a great vacation.

Special Rates:
Memorial Day / Labor Day weekend - 3 night min.
Winter Holidays: Thanksgiving, XMAS, New Years - 4 night min.

REQUIRED: We require a copy of primary renter's drivers license, as well as the names and ages of guests staying in our home. Must be at least 25 to rent, no exceptions.

Long overdue family reunion

We had a wonderful week. The kitchen was very well equipped, check in and response from owners was great. The ping pong table, kayaks, canoe and paddle boards were very fun for all ages. We particularly loved the boat house!

This was our 3rd year here and already booked for next year! Such a nice relaxing vacation located in a great spot on the lake. Dan was so accomodating to our needs and cannot appreciate it enough. Looking forward to next year! If you have a chance and like Mexican I highly recommend the r Mexican restaurant less than 5 minutes from the house. The best margaritas and delicious food

Great Family Stay

House was clean, boat dock was a great size for fishing and the boat as well as for the kids to swim. The layout of rooms was great to give adults separation for some quiet time! The owners were very responsive and super friendly. Would definitely stay again! Just make sure you have a broom handy to sweep off all the spiderwebs!

Family vacation.

Beautiful home in an excellent location. No traffic on the water being in a cove and our grandchildren enjoyed all the water sports safely. We loved it so much our young grandchildren can't wait to go back.

Another fabulous stay!

My fourth stay at Sunshine Cove and we still love it! We rented a boat for most of our time there and as we looked at other houses on the lake we kept saying over and over how ideal "our" dock was in comparison to the others we saw. Already looking to book again :)

Wonderful Lake House

We enjoyed another wonderful stay at Sunshine Cove, Lake Anna! Megan and Dan are excellent hosts and were easy to communicate with any questions or information about the home. The home is well appointed and very comfortable for our family thanksgiving. Excellent location with a great dock area and beautiful views of the lake! I highly recommend Sunshine Cove if you're looking to stay on Lake Anna!

Great Hosts

We had a great time at the property. The house is a great fit for our family. The hosts are very responsive and message back very promptly if you were to have any questions. We have so much fun at the dock swimming and using paddleboards. There is the boat rental very close by also if you are looking into renting a boat. The sandy beach area is great for our kids that are in the 6-9 year old range. We had a great stay!

Great Multi Family Stay on the Lake in Fall

Three families with 5 kiddos enjoyed all this waterfront property had to offer. Two of the brave ones even jumped in the lake! The ninja line and sand pit were hits! Parents enjoyed being able to relax on the deck and watch kiddos from above. I bet this house is amazing in the summer months!

Fabulous Holiday Weekend Getaway

We had a wonderful time at Sunshine Cove. The property was wonderful - clean, well-stocked, comfortable, nicely decorated and a good layout for multiple families. We spent the majority of our time at the dock swimming, floating, kayaking, fishing and watching football. I would highly recommend, and we will be back for sure. Thanks for hosting us Dan & Megan.

Amazing location and boathouse!

The house was laid out perfectly. Lots of indoor and outdoor space. The boathouse was roomy and allowed us to have 2 boats and 2 jet skis for the week. We spent everyday there…swimming, kayaking, and just jumping in the water. Nice quite cove but less than a minute to the open lake. House was very clean and suited our family perfectly. Beautiful stay

We live a few hours away from Lake Anna and have never been before so we decided to make a long weekend stay and we’re not disappointed! The house was spacious for our family of seven and had plenty of things to do. We weren’t able to enjoy the dock too much as the weather was cold but we did get to try a little fishing and hang out on the dock. We had a blast playing each other in ping pong and sitting by the fireplace. We plan on returning in the summer!

Spring break

Had a wonderful time with kids and grandkids over spring break (they're teachers). Weather was unseasonably warm this time of year so we really got to enjoy the boathouse and kayaks. The owners have all the bells and whistles outside. Thought of all the details ... which our Type A family fully appreciated. Everyone loved it!

Great house on the lake

This was our 4th time staying at this house. It is the perfect house for our family. Walk down to the lake is an easy walk for my 80 year old parents. The new steps to climb out of the lake was a great improvement. They are more like steps instead of the ladder they use to have. House is always clean and has everything we need. Megan and Dan always respond to any questions we have quickly. Already booked for summer of 2024!

Property is well equipped for time on the lake and hosting meals at home. We had some issues with the property regarding cleanliness, broken toilet and some minor broken items. Owner was responsive to all. Based on other places we rented, we found the rules extensive and be prepared for the owner to remind you multiple times of the rules before and during your stay. Also be prepared to give personal details of your guests, to make your own beds, clean the floors, pack all linens and towels for the cleaners and coordinate directly with housecleaner. For us, it took away from the holiday experience.

Life at the lake

Lovely property and home. We enjoyed lounging on the dock and with an 8 mo old baby with us it was a nice protected area for him to crawl around. We adults especially liked the bar and fridge to keep our snacks and beverages in. We only wish the rack holding the water vessels wouldn’t have been on the beach. We have four grandchildren who wanted to play in the sand and that was in the way. We loved the screened in porch and the rec room in the basement. If we would have known how private it was we would have brought the kid’s bikes. The only complaint we would have is the barking dog next door and the bugs on the outside of the patio door. Other than that, and the couple days of rain ☔️ 😩 we had a wonderful time!!!!

We are from Northern Virginia and have been traveling to Lake Anna (LKA) with our family since 2015. We were not familiar with the lake at first, but we have grown to love all that it offers. We continue to enjoy it more and more each time we come here to get away from the hustle and bustle of DC. There is so much to do on the lake, whether its paddleboarding, kayaking, wakesurfing, waterskiing, fishing for bass (striped, small mouth and large mouth), catfish, sunnies and more. Additionally, there are plenty of dining and great wineries, breweries, distilleries and even a cidery popping up around the lake. We have created amazing memories of the few times we have been to LKA and look forward to the ones we will make in the future. We are happy to be able to share our home away from home with you and hope you enjoy the area as much as we do! Happy memories. - Megan and Dan

Why they chose this property

After traveling to LKA a few times on family vacation and talking to several friends and neighbors who either owned property themselves or knew someone who did, they all felt the same that the lake is awesome and "Life is better at the lake". We had been looking for several years and felt that this property and the location really spoke to us, so much so that we had to take the next step with property ownership and the ability to share this home with you. We are looking forward to having our kids enjoy all that it has to offer as well.

What makes this property unique

The boathouse is what really stood out to us. The ability to relax all day and be on the lake really made a difference. The property is also on a cove in a no wake zone that would allow our kids and anyone for that matter, the safety of swimming right around there without jet skis or boats whizzing by. There is also privacy with this lot as it is lined with developed trees on either side, allowing for some solitude. Then, the amenities in the home with the impressive upgrades and everything we ever needed (turn-key) really made this a choice we could not pass on.
